On Saturday July 30th Mrs. Alicia Vernazzani, an Alum of the Visitation Academy in Brooklyn, had the rare privilege of an appointment to visit the Visitation Sisters in the Vatican, with her husband and two young children.

The visit was “beyond words”, Alicia said. Sharing many interesting topics with the Sisters behind the grille,( ” the poor Sister could hardly get two fingers across to share her affection”, Alicia commented)what really captured Alicia’s heart was “the bond of love that they shared so openly and joyfully”. This reality is what Alicia said will stay with her the most.

She and her family prayed evening prayer with the Sisters, separated of course by the enclosure grille.

The Sisters are from a variety of Visitation Monasteries in Spain and will remain in the Vatican Monastery throughout 2011 and 2012, when another contemplative community will arrive to continue the mission of praying for the Holy Father and the work of the Church.

The Mother Superior encouraged the young generation to voice their opinions about our Church, for she felt that the Vatican will listen to their voice.

A relationship has sprung up between a Visitation Academy Alum and these cloistered Sisters in the Vatican which promises to continue to bear fruit.
