Enjoy these Salesian highlights of last night’s chat!

Visitation Sister: The daily life itself of the Visitation is similar to other monastic orders to a large degree but it’s the interior way of living the life that has the special characteristics

Guest:: true!

 Mar 11 2012, 7:30 PM

Visitation Sister : I was thinking of exploring that on line if there was interest- ie,  deeper understanding of the Spiritual Directory that we have .We really have very specific guidelines for living our day- interiorly- and for growing in holiness

Guest: That’s what I want! Growing in holiness!

Visitation Sister: The best place to start, according to the Directory, is asking for grace before every action, exterior and interior Putting one’s hand in God’s Heart and gently taking grace, is the image so to speak

Guest:: Because that brings Jesus to mind all the time, and makes it less likely that you would incur sin

Visitation Sister: The second part of that is to offer any good you might do, thru His grace, back to Him

 Mar 11 2012, 7:33 PM

Guest: Oh, I like that image! And He puts His hands on my heart. Those are His rules-I pray, He fights

Guest: In reparation for those who do not

 Mar 11 2012, 7:34 PM

Visitation Sister: It’s said that if one really follows this closely, one would be walking in sanctity soon, because every action then is full of God- it is perfect

 Mar 11 2012, 7:35 PM

Guest: oooh, the thought is making my heart go pitter-pat

Mar 11 2012, 7:35 PM

Visitation Sister: Yes, reparation to His Heart is definitely part of it

That is very interesting- maybe I should put some of this up for you to read

Mar 11 2012, 7:36 PM

Visitation Sister: It is very engaging

You know St Francis de Sales is the patron saint of journalists- they’re wrtiters!

Mar 11 2012, 8:07 PM

Guest: That’s right…I wonder how he feels about fiction?

Mar 11 2012, 8:07 PM

Visitation Sister: That’s a research question!

Guest: I think I just assigned myself a job!

Mar 11 2012, 8:08 PM

Guest: I know there are sources on line, but I wonder how specific the biographies get

Mar 11 2012, 8:09 PM

Visitation Sister:: He quoted alot of people- I’m trying to think about those who wrote legends and myths

Mar 11 2012, 8:09 PM

Visitation Sister: Fiction per se as we know it- I can’t remember any references

Mar 11 2012, 8:09 PM

Visitation Sister: It would make a great paper. I’d venture to say that St Francis style- filled with examples, are a prelude to a story-telling gene that never developed.  He tells stories but about real life people and situations to illustrate his serious points

Mar 11 2012, 8:16 PM

Guest: Oh, now that’s something I could really study!

Mar 11 2012, 8:16 PM

Visitation Sister: Take any of his works

Mar 11 2012, 8:16 PM

Visitation Sister: It would make another good paper!

Guest: Yes, and “modern” Christian writers fictionalize situations & dilemmas to do the same thingHe tells stories but about real life people and situations to illustrate his serious points.
