The  Year of Faith declared by Pope Benedict XVI begins this October 11, 2012.

At that time we will begin  a weekly series on faith as perceived by our Salesian models: St. Francis de Sales, St. Jane de Chantal, St. Margaret Mary, Blessed Louis Brisson and others of our wider Salesian family.

St. Francis de Sales had a poetical approach to his theology of faith as expressed in his Treatise on the Love of God, which we will discover throughout  these weeks.

St. Jane de Chantal actually struggled with temptations against faith but remained deeply committed to it which can serve as a help to those who have similar struggles.

St Margaret Mary’s faith included visions and revelations as she was a chosen instrument of Our Lord in  promoting the love of His Sacred Heart.

Blessed Louis Brisson, newly beatified, Founder of the Oblates of St.Francis de Sales, was called a social apostle at his beatification on Sept 22, as he spoke and worked for a deepening of faith in family and society.

May our Salesian focus on faith help all to grow in a deeper appreciation of this God given gift.
