The three year monastic residence of the Visitation Sisters in the Vatican’s Mater Ecclesiae Monastery has drawn to  a close.

L’Osservatore Romano interviewed the Superior, Mother Maria Begona  Sanchos Herreros, about this experience, publishing the article in the November 7, 2012 issue of the paper.

Mother Maria Begona used the biblical image of Aaron and Hur upholding Moses in battle as a symbol of their prayer life in the Vatican from 2009-2012.

It was a powerful experience to be near in proximity to the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI, praying for him and the Church; living in community, they were always conscious of their role.

Their fondest memory is meeting with the Pope and feeling his deep interest in them amidst his many commitments.

Throughout the years many people came to visit them and asked for prayers; laity, religious, Bishops and Cardinals. They were filled with joy to be at the Vatican.
