World Day of Consecrated Life - Diocese of Joliet

Join our Living Jesus Chat Room Feb. 3 to talk about Consecrated Life (thanks to Diocese of Joliet for image)

Sunday February 3rd, 2013 is World Day for Consecrated Life!

Over the years, many men and women have chosen to live out their baptismal vocation by professing the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience. They do this by joining a religious congregation, a secular institute, or through private vows.

We pray for these people and ask God to bless our Church with others who will dedicate their lives to God’s service.

St. Francis de Sales acclaimed great admiration for consecrated life and in particular, those who profess the evangelical counsels.

He spoke of this in his work, The Catholic Controversy,Part 2, Chapter 10.

The Church which is now following the voice of her Pastor and Savior, and the track beaten by her ancestors, praises, approves, and greatly esteems the resolution of those who give themselves up to the practice of the Evangelical Counsels, of whom she has a very great number.”
