The Museum of the Visitation in Moulins France opens its new exhibit May 17th through December 24, 2014: IN ALL POINTS PERFECT: EMBROIDERED WORKS OF THE VISITATION FROM THE 19TH AND 20TH CENTURIES.

150 works from this period have been selected to illustrate the genius and diversity of professional productions , painted with fine needlework of silk, gold and silver. Vestments , banners and much more will be on display.

Visitors will be dazzled by the brilliance of gold ornaments, charmed by the shimmering embroidered flowers , struck by the natural fleece of lambs, admiring the magnificent scenery, filled with elegant scrolls, arches and golden flowers .

Scenography offers visitors an approach closer to the work , to discover the specificity of the techniques and styles marking the various stages of the decorative arts of this period.
They will also have the chance to discover vestments in a perfect state of preservation, despite their respectable age. The Visitation kept watch in effect to keep them clean and to protect them from light and dust , which is unfortunately rarely the case in the main displays of the cathedral or abbey open to the public.

The Musee de la Visitation is located at 83, rue d’Allier, Moulins, France.
