On May 1st we celebrated the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. St. Joseph serves as a model for all workers and an intercessor as well.

Fr. Kevin Nadolski, OSFS, illustrates this with his article on St. Joseph, when he states, ” fidelity is the essence of sainthood. Joseph, in his simple work as a husband, father, and carpenter within the household of Mary and Jesus, shows us this. Furthermore, all of our work—regardless of its nature—is easily sanctified by the goodness and humanity that completes it.”

St. Francis de Sales also taught us about the spiritual nature of work when he exhorted in his Introduction to the Devout Life, that all are called to holiness, and each in the way proper to his vocation, ie. a skilled workman should be devout, but not spend the whole day in Church like a monk!

On Sunday May 11th we invite all workers, employed, unemployed or underemployed, to consider your status in the light of your spiritual life and share how you practice your spirituality amidst your daily responsibilities. Join us for a chat at the Living Jesus Chat Room!
