Next week two important Feasts will be celebrated: The Feast of St. Michael the Archangel, Sept. 29th  and the Feast of the Guardian Angels, October 2.

Angels have always been revered in the Visitation Monasteries.

The devotion to these blessed Celestial Spirits has been fueled by the example offered by the life of our Founder. St. Francis de Sales had great devotion to his guardian angel, and also to that of his friends and his enemies.
When he left the diocese for a trip he entrusted it with special care to  the Angel, and never failed to greet those of kingdoms, provinces and parishes where he entered. Often he invoked in the confessional the Guardian Angel of the penitents.

Very devoted to the the Angels was the young Sister Mary Elizabeth Ginguene of the Monastery of Rennes, hailing from a noble family of Brittany. She conversed in spirit every day with the Angels and she divided  her year in novenas so that every day she was  in communication with a chorus of those blessed spirits.
The life of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque also showed evidence of communication with angels, especially once in the courtyard where they surrounded her for hours.
Mother Mary Teresa Razzini of contemporary times,  deceased January 6, 1940, was another Visitandine very devoted to angels. She reminded her spiritual daughters in correcting them for a fault,” Oh, what an ugly thing to do so in the presence of the Guardian Angel ! ” Or at other times of need she would say, “And do not you have your guardian angel?”. To well prepare for the recitation of the Office in choir, she suggested that the sisters  call  the angels, because “It ‘s the Spirits of heaven -she says – that help the virgins to praise God with fervor.”
The monasteries of the Visitation have  numerous statues depicting the angels, reminding us of their constant presence.

You are invited to chat with us Sun Sept 28 on your experience of angels in your life.
