PART ONE

The story of this Visitation Nun of Rosolini Italy is intimately connected with the life of Mother Carmela Aprile http://visitationspirit.org/2013/08/mother-rosolini-sept-mystic-of-the-month/ and is just as supernaturally amazing!

The child was born March 5, 1915 in the squalor of a dwelling and was given the name Josefa in baptism, a little girl who had two older brothers. As an infant through two years old she was very sick and her mother feared for her life. She prayed to the Sacred Heart, who had already claimed this child as His own, through a mystical inspiration to Mother Carmela Aprile of Rosolini.

At two, little Josefa would run away to the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart in Rosolini, where Mother Carmela was, looking for Jesus. Mother Carmela saw her and picked her up and asked: “Who brought you here?” – And the small one said” Jesus, my beautiful, so “- and made a move to hold her hand and with the other little hand raised meant that Jesus was big and tall. The pious woman understood that it was the child of her mystical inspiration and calling her by the name predestined in the inspiration said, “Serafina you must not go out from the sanctuary.” She was only two and half years old!

The child’s mother had prayed much to the Lord to spare her sick child’s life and felt resigned that this was the answer to prayer. So little “Serafina”came to dwell in this Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart, like our Blessed Mother in the Temple, cared for by Mother Carmela, another woman and in the company of another young girl.

We know with certainty that she received her first Holy Communion at 3 and a half years from the hands of the Bishop of Noto,  Mons. Giuseppe Vizzini. Serafina melted into tears because she wanted to receive Jesus.
The Bishop himself, wanting to comfort her, pretended to give Jesus,  handing her an unconsecrated host. But the little one did not want that , she asked that the tabernacle be opened. Then the prelate thought of putting a piece of bread in the tabernacle in the form of a wafer,  and  seriously pretended to give her Holy Communion. But Serafina refused:” this is the baby food, it is not Jesus.”
Finally, the Bishop agreed :  a secret inspiration which made him adhere to the designs of God.

At the proper age Serafina went to school but she always preferred prayer!
