The powerful occasion of Pentecost was amazing, but we see in the Visitation that Elizabeth already experienced her own kind of Pentecost. How can Pentecost and the Visitation serve us a reminder that God wants to work in the life of every individual and in the whole Church? When Mary came to Elizabeth, Elizabeth asked, “Who am I…?” We can look at this event analogously with what happens to us at baptism. Our Lady (Mediatrix of all Grace) brings the grace of her Son to us through the waters of baptism.

We are then filled with the same Holy Spirit. What can Elizabeth teach us about how to live our baptismal promises?”Hence I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control. Do not be ashamed then of testifying to our Lord” (2Timothy 1:6-8). By being confirmed, we made a promise that we would preach the Gospel.

How can we practice the holy boldness to joyfully be witnesses of Jesus to the world?
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25). It is not enough to have received the Holy Spirit, we must also be people transformed by the Spirit. How can focusing on our growth in virtue and holiness be better than condemning the world in its sins?

MSusanMarie (guest): Have you given much thought to the Holy Spirt’s role in the Visitation Gospel passage?

May 24 2015, 7:19 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): I always feel Visitandines have a wonderful hope in the Holy Spirit based on this Gospel

May 24 2015, 7:19 PM

Dawn L: I am praying to understand the reflection you posed…to not limit Gods activity to a solitary event

May 24 2015, 7:19 PM

Lisa C: I have been reading Treatise on the Love of God, as you know, and St. FdS said that St. John, had no sin, I wonder whether that is why he had the HS in him before he was born

May 24 2015, 7:19 PM

Lisa C: recognizing Jesus

015, 7:20 PM

Lisa C: I thought that only Jesus and Blessed Mother had that sin free state as humans

May 24 2015, 7:20 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Hi Anne! I presumed St John was purified wjhen the Spirit entered him and he leaped for joy

15, 7:20 PM

Lisa C: Yes015, 7:21 PM

Lisa C: More proof of how pre born babies are just like everyone else

May 24 2015, 7:21 PM

Anne M: Hi everyone

0 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Hi Anne! I presumed St John was purified wjhen the Spirit entered him and he leaped for joy

May 24 2015, 7:20 PM

Lisa C: Yes

Lisa C: Interesting how he did not have to be baptized and confirmed to have that grace

May 24 2015, 7:21 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): This passage proves life in the womb

May 24 2015, 7:22 PM

Dawn L: ah! yes it does Mother!

May 24 2015, 7:22 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): He died before the sacraments were instituted I think except the fact he himself baptized with water

May 24 2015, 7:22 PM

Dawn L: have not thought of this

May 24 2015, 7:22 PM

Carol Ann: Hi Everyone!

7:23 PM

Anne M: Jesus, with Mary’s help, carried the Holy Spirit to start His work. At Pentecost, Mary was present when He sent the Holy Spirit the Apostles and Disciples (us) to carry it on.

Lisa C: Did the HS come to anyone before pentacost? I guess he came to St. J and St. E, but how

May 24 2015, 7:24 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Hi Carol Anne! yes He came to Mary and overshadowed her

May 24 2015, 7:24 PM

Lisa C: I guess Blessed Mother and Jesus brought the HS

May 24 2015, 7:24 PM

Dawn L: the prophets were inspired by the Holy Spirit…

May 24 2015, 7:24 PM

Carol Ann: The HS spoke to the ancient prophets too, didn’t He?

May 24 2015, 7:24 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): So there is not a solitary event but several

May 24 2015, 7:24 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): That is true Carol. Can we find an ex in OT?

May 24 2015, 7:24 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): or Dawn?

, 7:25 PM

Carol Ann: Isaiah, Jeremiah, God speaking in a still, small voice

May 24 2015, 7:25 PM

Dawn L: yes

May 24 2015, 7:25 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Ah!

e (guest): Ah!

May 24 2015, 7:25 PM

Lisa C: Why did the Apostles need to wait until Jesus left to receive the HS

May 24 2015, 7:26 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): In John’s Gospel they received the Spirit when Jesus breathed on them Easter night and in the Synoptics 10 days after Ascension. So receiving the Spirit in different ways?

:28 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Or for different purposes? TOn pentecost the Spirit came for the whole Church, not just individuals and their mission8 PM

Dawn L: and here…in the OT and New… we can see easily how God’s activity is not limited to a solitary event. and it can be in different ways!

May 24 2015, 7:29 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Exactly!

Carol Ann: It is a great mystery to me how the Spirit works, but I know He does

May 24 2015, 7:29 PM

Debbie (guest): Hello Dawn.

, 7:31 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): It might be good to share some of our experiences of the Holy Spirit- or how we have seen the Spirit work in others:31 PM

Anne M: Same Spirit, different gifts. When Peter went to Cornielius’ home, after teaching the Good News scripture says they kind of automatically received the Spirit, even before Baptism.

May 24 2015, 7:31 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): That’s right!

7:32 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): The first time I was conscious of the Holy Spirit in a new and manifest way was with Fr Dennis Kelleher who would pray over people

May 24 2015, 7:33 PM

Judy K: Last Saturday, I thought that I was supposed to give the formation talk at our Cooperators’meeting. However, I had read the sign up sheet wrong. When the woman who give the talk, it turned out that we had chosen the same topic and some of same aspects to share. I was sure that Mary wanted those things to be brought up at the meeting.

May 24 2015, 7:33 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): I was in the back of a church almost hugging the wall so to speak and a lady next to me said to me I wish Fr would come pray over me for my niece. He was on the altar way in the front

May 24 2015, 7:33 PM

Carol Ann: I see Him lots in retrospect, as I reflect on events, but sometimes I know right away it was Him

May 24 2015, 7:33 PM

Anne M: This woman at our Reparation Masses is from time to time “slain in the Spirit”. It freaked me out at first, I wanted to cal 911

May 24 2015, 7:33 PM

Debbie (guest): I just finished a retreat today and the Holy Spirit seemed to be everywhere. I’m sure that with Peter the Spirit emanated almost physically

May 24 2015, 7:33 PM

Anne M: call

May 24 2015, 7:34 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): She barely had the words out and he came dashing up the aile right to her and prayed- there was no way he could have heard her

MSusanMarie (guest): Did you give the talk at all Judy?

May 24 2015, 7:35 PM

Debbie (guest): Wow..what a powerful testament to his relationship with the Holy Spirit.

May 24 2015, 7:35 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Anne that was the first time that I experienced the gift of slain in the Spirit

May 24 2015, 7:35 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Not personally but I saw the others

May 24 2015, 7:36 PM

Judy K: I was present at a charismatic prayer meeting many years ago. After the meeting, while we having coffee, prayer teams were praying over people for healing. Suddenly, we all felt a great rush of air that nearly knocked us out of our seats. We all said that someone had been touched by the Spirit.

May 24 2015, 7:36 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Fr Kelleher may he rest in peace was very much in touch with the Holy Spirit

May 24 2015, 7:36 PM

Judy K: No, Mother. I put it away and may give it some time next year.

5, 7:37 PM

Dawn L: I have not heard the term slain in the spirit, but I will look it up.

May 24 2015, 7:38 PM

Lisa C: Judy that happened to me once, the rush of wind, when someone prayed for me

5, 7:38 PM

Lisa C: It was actually a force that pushed me back9 PM

Anne M: It’s also called “resting in the Spirit”. People seem to just fall over unconsious, and Father just mostly lets them lay there until they come to.

Carol Ann: It is so humbling to have that happen to oneself

0 PM

Anne M: At a Reparation Mass I stumbled back, but didn’t go unconsious. Also, during a blessing with the Blessed Sacrament on my forehead I felt very weak and felt faint

May 24 2015, 7:40 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): One usually has to yield to it but I am intrigued by the rush of wind you both mentioned.

May 24 2015, 7:40 PM

Lisa C: I think we can pray for the HS to go to ether people

May 24 2015, 7:41 PM

Lisa C: other

7:41 PM

Lisa C: Mother it is not like a wind with dust and leaves blowing, it is like a force

May 24 2015, 7:41 PM

Lisa C: You feel it go through you

May 24 2015, 7:41 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Just like Pentecost today and the Acts of Apostles

42 PM

Carol Ann: I have felt what you are describing too

May 24 2015, 7:42 PM

Lisa C: It actually pushes you though

May 24 2015, 7:42 PM

Ruth (guest): Still catching up. Hi everyone. People “slain in the Spirit” are not unconscious.

:42 PM

Dawn L: hi Ruth :-0

May 24 2015, 7:42 PM

Lisa C: It is not like the gentleness of Jesus it is strong

May 24 2015, 7:42 PM

Anne M: That’s the thing, Mother. My reflex was to try to remain upright. I guess I fought it. I didn’t understand

May 24 2015, 7:42 PM

Debbie (guest): Ruth can you explain it in another way…I don’t understand

43 PM

Judy K: I was addressing the topic of Mary in the life of St. John Bosco and made reference to some of his dreams in which Mary played a great role. I began with the great dream when he was 9 years old and he was shown how he would be working with children in his life. He was told by Jesus that Mary would teach him how to work with them. Another was a dream about an enormous elephant who was attacking the boys in the courtyard. Mary was at the end of the yard with her mantle outstretched. 4 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Mary had a very close relationship with the Holy Spirit, a true Spouse of the Spirit

May 24 2015, 7:44 PM

Ruth (guest): I’ve seen it many times, experienced it personally a few times at prayer meetings — usually healing services.

May 24 2015, 7:44 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): In fact St Maximilian Kolbe was fascinated by the term she called herself to St Bernadettte” I am the Immaculate Conception”

May 24 2015, 7:44 PM

Debbie (guest): Yes…don’t you think next to Jesus she would be closer to the Holy Spirit than anyone. She is His spouse.

May 24 2015, 7:45 PM

Judy K: She was calling to the boys to find shelter beneath her mantle. Many did and the more who did, the larger the mantle became. Some did not, and they were either badly injured or killed. Don Bosco was told that the elephant represented bad talk and foul companions. And so the boys were told to have recourse to Mary in all things.

Lisa C: I pray the rosary everyday for the HS to go to my daughter, at Communion I send Him to her too

May 24 2015, 7:45 PM

Ruth (guest): Debbie, probably anyone except the Father. and Jesus.

May 24 2015, 7:46 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes and often Lisa people are prayed over”in proxy” so to speak for others

May 24 2015, 7:46 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Hi Karen

6 PM

Judy K: I also have rested in the Spirit at prayer meetings. I was totally conscious but just could not, or had no desire to move. I was content to lie there and experience the peace that was filling me. , 7:47 PM

Karen P: Hello all! I was reading what had been shared so far but it only goes back a little ways. I will follow the posts for a bit to get a better understanding of what has been shared so far.

May 24 2015, 7:47 PM

Carol Ann: Has anyone else cried a lot?

May 24 2015, 7:47 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): What a blessing

48 PM

Anne M: I always cry, Carol Ann. Father says the “gift of tears”

May 24 2015, 7:48 PM

Judy K: I was a member of a prayer group for a number of years, and was in the music ministry. Little by little the group was becoming very fundamentalistic in its approach to the Scripture and were attributing everything from hang nails to cancer to Satan. I bowed out.

May 24 2015, 7:48 PM

Carol Ann: I’m glad I’m not the only one!

May 24 2015, 7:48 PM

Dawn L: on Divine Mercy Sunday I sobbed at Mass, and still after.

:49 PM

Dawn L: I could feel Jesus sorrow for the world, my sins, their sins. it was very powerful and purifying

May 24 2015, 7:49 PM

Karen P: Thank you for the missing parts, Mother! I have not had the experiences that many are describing to the degree that others have.

May 24 2015, 7:49 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): It’s possible Mary and Elizabeth cried when they greeted each other too!

49 PM

Ruth (guest): I prayed — at one of my first charismatic retreats — over a nun in proxy for her neice who’d been badly injured in a car crash. People tell me that after everyone else had left it was about a half hour that I remained praying with arms outstretched. It would take a book to describe what happened. Needless to say, I learned a lot about the workings of the Holy Spirit on that occassion.

May 24 2015, 7:50 PM

Debbie (guest): I bet they did.

May 24 2015, 7:50 PM

Carol Ann: Anne & Dawn, I am so glad I am not the only one. No one here seemed to know what it was and people were really upset’

51 PM

Debbie (guest): Can you imagine Mary’s comfort and relief that Elizabeth realized and understood her situation without her even having to explain.

Debbie (guest): Can you imagine Mary’s comfort and relief that Elizabeth realized and understood her situation without her even having to explain.

May 24 2015, 7:51 PM

Lisa C: I do not understand praying in proxy?

May 24 2015, 7:51 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): You are standing in for someone else in prayer

May 24 2015, 7:51 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): But physically someone is praying over you

May 24 2015, 7:51 PM

Karen P: I have felt the urge to cry and have felt that the Spirit was with me at mass on various occasions, but not had the other experiences described. I think we feel differently but it is the same Spirit.

May 24 2015, 7:52 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): I don’t know why it is done that way tho

52 PM

Carol Ann: Yes, Mary’s experience was unique and hard to understand. Elizabeth went through something similar and I think would have been a great source of comfort and counsel

Lisa C: Maybe because we are all one in the church

May 24 2015, 7:53 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): When Elizabeth was filled with the Spirit it is as if she prophesied: Elizabeth cried out in a Loud voice- Who am i that the motjer of my Lord should come to me?

May 24 2015, 7:53 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes good point Lisa

May 24 2015, 7:53 PM

Karen P: I have always been amazed that Elizabeth was able to know that Mary was with child and that the child was the Lord. I had not thought about it being a result of the Holy Spirit, but that makes perfect sense!

May 24 2015, 7:53 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Mother

May 24 2015, 7:53 PM

Debbie (guest): Exactly Carol Ann. That’s what I believe. I”m sure they were a comfort to each other.

:53 PM

Judy K: I was moved by the section on Elizabeth’s question “Who am I…” It seemed that the question cannot be separated from the words “that the mother of my Lord should come to me.” Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, asks the humble question. At Baptism, we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Are we any more worthy than Elizabeth? Then we should ask “Who am I that the Lord should fill me with His Spirit.” With this reality, we should live our baptismal promises with a true spirit of umility.

May 24 2015, 7:54 PM

Judy K: Humility.

15, 7:54 PM

Ruth (guest): Debbie, that is such a sweet thought. Yes, when someone understands without a lot of words; it touches the heart. 5 PM

Debbie (guest): Yes….and then I cry. So I would not be surprised if they did not cry in each others arms upon greeting one another.

May 24 2015, 7:55 PM

Karen P: They both would have been the object of much community discussion even if for different reasons, so it must have been wonderful to be able to accept and love each other without needing to have explanations or asking how this happened.

May 24 2015, 7:55 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Judy that is so true- and we were given this gift, most of us, before we knew what it was

7:56 PM

Lisa C: Mother why did you bring up how Blessed Mother named herself to St. Bernadette as the Immaculate Conception

May 24 2015, 7:56 PM

Debbie (guest): That their words may have been said through tears. I always feel the Holy Spirit moves me to tears.

Karen P: Of course, they also both knew it happened through the work of God. But the community of believers around them probably questioned this.

May 24 2015, 7:56 PM

Ruth (guest): I wonder if Mary’s mother, Anne was still alive when Mary was pregnant with Jesus.

May 24 2015, 7:56 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Lisa it was in connection to Mary being the Spouse of the Holy Spirit

May 24 2015, 7:57 PM

Debbie (guest): lol.Karen I’m sure those around them were confounded by the whole thing.

May 24 2015, 7:57 PM

Judy K: The Scriptures do not tell us if Mary went to Elizabeth by herself or whether she had a traveling companion. If she was alone, she must have had great courage because there so many thieves on the roads in those days. Also, in the early stage of pregnancy, it could not have been an easy trip.

May 24 2015, 7:57 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): St Kolbe went on to “prove” that the Holy Spirit is the true immaculate conception- the love between Father and Son, and Maryinherits this by being Spiouse of the Spirit

May 24 2015, 7:57 PM

Lisa C: But the Immaculate Conception refers to her not having original sin, not the pregnancy

May 24 2015, 7:57 PM

Debbie (guest): Who could possibly understand it

MSusanMarie (guest): That’s right- Lisa I I would have to quote the whole chapter for it to make full sense- I will show it to you sometime! or if you get the book 33 days to morning glory, it is in there

May 24 2015, 7:59 PM

Debbie (guest): So in a sense then Kolbe is saying that The Father and Son’s love created and begat the Holy Spriti?

May 24 2015, 7:59 PM

Anne M: That’s beautiful, Mother.

May 24 2015, 7:59 PM

Karen P: St. Kolbe did share that the Spirit was the Immaculate Conception. I remember reading that in 33 Days to Morning Glory – although his explanation of this and how it was so that He could be the spouse of Mary was a bit complex.

May 24 2015, 7:59 PM

Lisa C: The HS proceeds from them Debbie

May 24 2015, 7:59 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Sort of- it’s not exact either- I would truly have to use his words- any deviation may mean heresy!

00 PM

Debbie (guest): yes I get that…I”m just trying to understand the Immaculate Conception concept as it relates to the Holy Spirit.

May 24 2015, 8:00 PM

Lisa C: If all 3 are one God, I do not think that they could all not have existed from eternity,

8:00 PM

Karen P: Right – and I am not sure I said it correctly – but I know it did make sense in the whole scenario of how things came to be when he explained it. PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Sort of- it’s not exact either- I would truly have to use his words- any deviation may mean heresy!

May 24 2015, 8:00 PM

Debbie (guest): yes I get that…I”m just trying to understand the Immaculate Conception concept as it relates to the Holy Spirit.

May 24 2015, 8:00 PM

Lisa C: If all 3 are one God, I do not think that they could all not have existed from eternity,

May 24 2015, 8:00 PM

Karen P: Right – and I am not sure I said it correctly – but I know it did make sense in the whole scenario of how things came to be when he explained it.

May 24 2015, 8:01 PM

Dawn L: 33 Days to Morning Glory is a wonderful gift to us! think

May 24 2015, 8:01 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Hi Amy!

May 24 2015, 8:01 PM

Debbie (guest): I’ve never heard of this book. What is is?

May 24 2015, 8:01 PM

Lisa C: No part of the Trinity preexisted any other person in it

May 24 2015, 8:01 PM

Debbie (guest): it

May 24 2015, 8:01 PM

Dawn L: Hi Amy

May 24 2015, 8:01 PM

Anne M: And the Spirit providing so much meditation regarding His Spouse. As there’s not much dialog.

May 24 2015, 8:01 PM

Amy Cochran: hi

May 24 2015, 8:02 PM

Amy Cochran: I agree with Lisa. No part of the Trinity preexisted any other person.

33 Days to Morning Glory: A Do-It-Yourself Retreat In Preparation for Marian … – Michael E. Gaitley, MIC –

PM

Karen P: This was a new way for me to think of the Holy Spirit. I think of the Spirit as the comforter and one who will guide us being sent by Christ after He is resurrected. Thinking of the HS as the immaculate conception was a new idea.

Lisa C: We had banners and processions and received medals for each

May 24 2015, 8:06 PM

Judy K: The presence of Jesus within Mary made her go to give witness to Elizabeth, a silent witness of which she was not aware. Question asks how we can practice holy boldness to joyfully be witnesses to Jesus in the world. We must first keep in mind that we have been gifted with the same Spirit Who transformed the apostles from fearful trembling to fearless preachers of the Good News. Our witness can take many forms, from silent to vocal. 1. wearing a cross or crucifix or other religious emblem.

8:07 PM

Judy K: this could present an occasion for evangelization if someone asks about the emblem and why we are wearing it5, 8:07 PM

Amy Cochran: or we could bless ourselves when going by a church7 PM

Karen P: The Spirit gives us the words to share when we evangelize. PM

Lisa C: Anything good we do is the work of the HS not ourselves8 PM

Karen P: Very true, Lisa!

May 24 2015, 8:08 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): And it is good to invoke the Holy Spirit frequently!

May 24 2015, 8:08 PM

Judy K: 3. speaking out against the moral decay around us by letters to legislators and the President, letters to the editors of newspapers, handing out pamphlets explaining Catholic doctrine. praying before an abortion mill,

PM

Ruth (guest): Father, Son and Holy Spirit IS from all eternity. In the OT there are many examples of the work of the Holy Spirit. 09 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Being joyful as the Blessed Mother was in the Visitation scene while we witness10 PM

Judy K: correcting people who do not know correct doctrine (e.g. the difference between the Immaculate Conception and the Virgin Birth), dressing for Mass in a manner that shows our reverence for our Liturgy, :10 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: A joy-filled, Pentecostal HELLO to all! 8:11 PM

Judy K: sending religious Christmas and Easter cards, inviting others to go to Mass, adoration, a novena, Day of Recollection, retreat of a parish mission,

May 24 2015, 8:11 PM

Debbie (guest): Thank you Sister

May 24 2015, 8:11 PM

Judy K: Hi Sister Mary Roberta!

May 24 2015, 8:11 PM

Amy Cochran: Hi Sister

May 24 2015, 8:12 PM

Anne M: Judy, I gave my neighbor a Christmas card with a little fold out 3D Nativity, and he bought me a ham!

May 24 2015, 8:12 PM

Dawn L: HI Sr Mary Roberta!

May 24 2015, 8:12 PM

Judy K: And always keep in mind the saying “Preach the Gospel always;use words when necessary.”

May 24 2015, 8:12 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Our priest today said, just like our blood keeps flowing and enlivening our bodies, just so the Holy Spirit is always flowing to enliven our souls/spirits.

3 PM

Karen P: Hello Sister Mary Roberta! I apologize for leaving early tonight, but I will look forward to the next chat. I will pray for everyone this week, and please do so for me! Have a wonderful Memorial Day and I pray we will all be living joyfully in the Spirit of the Pentecost! Good night!

May 24 2015, 8:13 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: We live physically because of our flowing blood, and we need to LIVE spiritually because of the flowing Spirit.

May 24 2015, 8:13 PM

Judy K: Memories of my confirmation include actually feeling strengthened as I was receiving the sacrament.

Ruth (guest): And maybe Scripture reading, prayer practices, are the Pump to keep the Spirit flowing within.

PM

Carol Ann: Our pastor started with all the different human languages we all speak, and how some speak two or even three. He closed by saying there is another language given by the Spirit that we all speak-the language of love and compassionPM

Debbie (guest): That’s nice Carol Ann. I like that

May 24 2015, 8:15 PM

Carol Ann: Good night Karen

May 24 2015, 8:15 PM

Ruth (guest): Yes, Carol Ann; our pastor said the same.

May 24 2015, 8:15 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Sorry that I’m always late because I can only come after our Compline/Night Prayer, which ended late this evening.

May 24 2015, 8:15 PM

Carol Ann: We have a great pastor here

PM

Lisa C: One cute story about the HS, my daughter was in the choir at church and one of the acolytes was a bit reckless with a candle and lit a chorister’s hair on fire, and my daughter started putting out the fire with her hymnal and we all were joking that the fire was the HS16 PM

Anne M: That’s great, Judy. I was just afraid the Bishop would ask me a question!

May 24 2015, 8:16 PM

Lisa C: No disrespect intended

8 PM

Judy K: How can focusing on our growth in virtue and holiness be better that condemning the world {or individuals} in its sin” Bracked insert mine. The world can become a better place one person at a time. If each person in the world focused on growing in virtue and holiness, ti would be for the good of all. We need to remove the planks from our own eyes so that we can see clearly to remove the speck from our brothers’ eyes.

May 24 2015, 8:18 PM

Ruth (guest): I’m afraid I was not thinking of the Holy Spirit when a woman, impatient to get to use the air pump, “helped” me with a “light” It was a cigarette lighter that set my hair on fire!

M

Mary Roberta Viano: Yes, I always wondered about the “tongues of fire”!

MSusanMarie (guest): Love is like a fire in the heart!

May 24 2015, 8:20 PM

Dawn L: was it literal fire or was this a medaphore

May 24 2015, 8:20 PM

Judy K: Unless we are seriously working on ourselves, we have no business condemning the world. We should imitate Jesus Who did not come to condemn but to save. We cannot help to save another unless we have lived as one who is saved.

May 24 2015, 8:20 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Then we won’t see other’s faults either but their virtues

PM

Ruth (guest): When I was 40, the Lord taught me that long before I consciously sought Him, even my desire to discover the TRUTH was His Gift to me — the Holy Spirit was guiding me on the quest.

May 24 2015, 8:21 PM

Lisa C: So I have wondered about something….how the unity of the church might have to do with the guilt of sin being part of everyone…maybe that is part of how we can suffer for others to help with the burden of sin

PM

Lisa C: That cannot be all of it, because I do not think we are all guilty of all the sin PM

MSusanMarie (guest): But Jesus BECAME sin for us- that is hard to understand

May 24 2015, 8:22 PM

Lisa C: So how do we take on others’ sin

May 24 2015, 8:22 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: I like SFdS on the HS in TLG: “By a wondrous infusion of the Holy spirit’s grace into our hearts He makes our works become His and yet at the same time lets them remain our own.”

2 PM

Judy K: Acts tells us that there appeared tongues of fire which came and rested on each one of them. A metaphore would not have rested on each of them because it would not have been visible. :23 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: I like the thought that I what I do in the Spirit is so much more and better than anything I can do on my own, without the Spirit 23 PM

Lisa C: Yes, sister, sometimes it feels a bit scary that we will be swallowed up by God as we die and let Him work through us, but I know that is not how it is….we do not lose our free will and our consciousness

May 24 2015, 8:23 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Miracles happen with the Holy Spirit

May 24 2015, 8:23 PM

Ruth (guest): And Our Lady enhances all the poor gifts we offer to the Lord.

4 PM

Dawn L: Sr Mary, your often quoting of SFds and TDL….well I have finally received the book and starting to read. he has a very clear and gentle spirit

May 24 2015, 8:24 PM

Judy K: I particularly like the concept of the tongues of fire since we can see that the apostles were really set on fire for the Lord. I pray to be set on fire as well.

, 8:24 PM

Dawn L: so thank you. 2015, 8:24 PM

Debbie (guest): What is a TDL? M

Mary Roberta Viano: That’s what excites our young people so much: That they can do much MORE than they can ever imagine with the Holy Spirit’s help – like being Our Lord’s humble SUPER MEN and WOMEN.

May 24 2015, 8:25 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): TGL maybe? Treatise on the Love of God?

Debbie (guest): ohhh… ok. That makes sense.

May 24 2015, 8:25 PM

Dawn L: maybe wrong. its intro to the Devout Life

May 24 2015, 8:25 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): IDL

, 8:25 PM

Dawn L: thank you!

Judy K: It is so great to see such wonderful tapes of young people at various conferences. They really do seem to be being set on fire for the Lord.

May 24 2015, 8:27 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: I like to imagine us all flexing our “love muscles” and getting them stronger as we open ourselves to the Spirit’s strength.

:28 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: and it great that Our Holy Fathers, our Popes, are the ones who are their idols – now Pope Francis, who will be here in the US in 3 months1

May 24 2015, 8:28 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Just like Mary and Elizabeth- both filled with the Holy Spirit

May 24 2015, 8:28 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): May we be like that for each other!

May 24 2015, 8:29 PM

Debbie (guest): yes. And truly what good can I do without the Holy Spirit?

May 24 2015, 8:29 PM

Judy K: Tonight I would like to just sit in silence, read the Pentecost story again, and than just be, opening to the action of the Spirit in my life, to be open to being set on fire.

May 24 2015, 8:29 PM

Dawn L: are any of you going to attend ?…I am hoping for many young people to be able to go

May 24 2015, 8:29 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Look out Philly and DC when Pope Francis helps open us to the Spirit’s inspirations while he’s with us in September!

May 24 2015, 8:30 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Popes homily: The world needs men and women who are not closed in on themselves, but filled with the Holy Spirit. Closing oneself off from the Holy Spirit means not only a lack of freedom; it is a sin. There are many ways one can close oneself off to the Holy Spirit: by selfishness for one’s own gain; by rigid legalism – seen in the attitude of the doctors of the law to whom Jesus referred as “hypocrites”; by neglect of what Jesus taught; by living the Christian life not as service to others but in the pu

May 24 2015, 8:30 PM

Ruth (guest): I had a friend with a special healing ministry — a French Concentration Camp survivor. She was so full of the Holy Spirit that even when she was dying there was clearly JOY in her eyes, and even at her wake, after we prayed an Our Father holding hands, spontaneously everyone went “WHEEEEEEEEEEEE” as she often did in joy.

May 24 2015, 8:30 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: When you think about our saint-martyrs, like now Blessed Oscar Romero, who were willing to die, rather than deny Our Lord – wow!

May 24 2015, 8:30 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): in the pursuit of personal interests; and in so many other ways. The world needs the courage, hope, faith and perseverance of Christ’s followers. The world needs the fruits of the Holy Spirit: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

8:31 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): If we can attend we will.

May 24 2015, 8:31 PM

Lisa C: Do you know the dates in Sept?

May 24 2015, 8:32 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Good idea Judy- let’s reread the Pentecost event once more tonight

May 24 2015, 8:32 PM

Judy K: Sister Mary Roberta, I really fear the possiblity that we might be called to make that same kind of sacrifice if ISIS or one of those factions comes to the US.

May 24 2015, 8:32 PM

Debbie (guest): This week in retreat the Lord just kept teaching me…through the HOly Spirit to love and trust and abandon myself to His Will…then I will manifest those fruits. Through my abandonment of “personal agenda.”

May 24 2015, 8:32 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: so true, Judy…

PM

Debbie (guest): This week in retreat the Lord just kept teaching me…through the HOly Spirit to love and trust and abandon myself to His Will…then I will manifest those fruits. Through my abandonment of “personal agenda.”

May 24 2015, 8:32 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: so true, Judy…

May 24 2015, 8:33 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Mid Sept I think I don;r know exactly do you Sister?

May 24 2015, 8:33 PM

Dawn L: I will join with you reading Pentecost tonight!

May 24 2015, 8:33 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: No, I don’t know the exact dates. A Google search would probably bring them to light.

May 24 2015, 8:33 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): May the Holy Spirit fill each one of us tonight and every day!

May 24 2015, 8:33 PM

Lisa C: I think you have to have tickets, when Pope Benedict and Pope JP II came you needed them

May 24 2015, 8:33 PM

Judy K: Sept. 19th seems to be ringing in my brain.

May 24 2015, 8:33 PM

Debbie (guest): That’s what I thought Judy

May 24 2015, 8:34 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Good nite and blessings- need to leave now

May 24 2015, 8:34 PM

Debbie (guest): Good night.
