• Drowned in the sea of everyday life we can tend to forget about the awesome presence and power of God. Like Peter trapped, sinking in the middle of the sea, how can we refocus our attention upon God and allow Him to bring us to our feet?
  • What can you let go of today (and for the rest of your life) that is holding you back from totally thriving in God’s freedom?
  • Modern-day luxuries and comforts convince us that the “next thing” will be what finally satisfies us. Ironically, the Christian life thrives upon being empty so that we are totally satisfied with God alone. However, God has made us to be in this world. How do we find the balance between our spiritual life and our material/bodily life?
  • You are known by the author of space and time. This God loves you and knows you, and you will not change His mind about it. This God wantyou. God has put wants into our hearts. How can you surrender your “I want” to God so that it can be imbued with His grace and energy? – 7:11 PM

Oct 4 2015, 7:17 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Hi Sr Susan Judy and Lisa ! It’s Brian! God Bless you

Oct 4 2015, 7:18 PM

Lisa C: Yes, I keep seeing it all over!

Oct 4 2015, 7:18 PM

Lisa C: Hi Brian

It seems to me we can begin- what do you think?

Oct 4 2015, 7:20 PM

Lisa C: I think so

Oct 4 2015, 7:22 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): I think what holds me back from thriving in greater freedom is both is self focus at times and not depending more fully on the Holy Spirit

Oct 4 2015, 7:22 PM

Guest4726 (guest): It has been a grueling week after seeing Pope Francis last Sunday in Philedelphia we always take a hit after a great victory for our Lord Jesus Christ it’s part of the battle !

Oct 4 2015, 7:22 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): What was the hit?

PM

Lisa C: When I was reading the chat topic with the excerpt from Sr. Mary of the Sacred Heart Bernaud, I thought you had written it, Mother. It sounded contemporary. Then I saw the credit at the bottom. It is amazing how what is true stays true.

Oct 4 2015, 7:25 PM

Lisa C: Hi Dawn

Oct 4 2015, 7:25 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): But today the Holy Spirit took over- the Pastor asked me to give the reflection at the gathering- all those priests and others apostolic- but the Holy Spirit gave me the strength

Oct 4 2015, 7:25 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes Lisa somehow things don’t change!

Dawn L: Hi SrSusan,and everyone!

Oct 4 2015, 7:27 PM

Judy K: Hi Mother, Lisa, Dawn and Guest 4726 (Brian?)

Oct 4 2015, 7:27 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): So letting go of ones self consciousness certainly helps to grow in freedom

Oct 4 2015, 7:27 PM

Ann: Hello Sister Susan and everyone.

Oct 4 2015, 7:27 PM

Guest4726 (guest): My son Mitch has had close friend for over a year and they have really gotten close and became boyfriend and girlfriend very innocent ! Mom is very strict and she has made them cut off all communication they are both 17 months from college he was weeping for two days !

Oct 4 2015, 7:27 PM

Lisa C: I do not know how anyone can forget God when life is in turmoil. We need Him most then. When life is good and calm then it is time to thank Him.

Oct 4 2015, 7:27 PM

Dawn L: There is much positive energy here today, the Holy Spirit

MSusanMarie (guest): Hi Ann WElcome!

Oct 4 2015, 7:28 PM

Dawn L: Hi Ann.

Oct 4 2015, 7:28 PM

Ann: Thank you, Mother

Oct 4 2015, 7:28 PM

Ann: Hello Dawn

MSusanMarie (guest): aNN THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME HERE?

It’s wonderful to have you join us. Some here are discerning and some not, but we all share spiritually

Oct 4 2015, 7:30 PM

Judy K: Happy to have you with us, Ann!

Oct 4 2015, 7:30 PM

Ann: Great! I look forward to getting to know everyone, and I am always ready to learn

Oct 4 2015, 7:31 PM

Ann: Thank you, Judy. It’s nice to meet you.

Oct 4 2015, 7:31 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Young peoples hearts are so tender and raw, actually all our hearts are but some of us in giving them to God- He gives us a gift and the hurts are not as deep- at least that’s my experience

:32 PM

Ann: That has been my experience too, Mother. He gives us gifts to cope and move forward. 33 PM

Ann: His Love is amazing, and has helped me through many challenges in my life.

Oct 4 2015, 7:34 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): in my youth emotional attachments held me back from thriving in God;s freedom and nothing would have convinced me I could be free.

PM

Lisa C: How can you be free of emotional attachments?

Oct 4 2015, 7:35 PM

Dawn L: Emotional attachments can feel so powerful at the time

Oct 4 2015, 7:35 PM

Lisa C: Not you specifically, but anyone

Oct 4 2015, 7:35 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Or even last year on retreat I felt I was always running in the Monastery with so many tasks and I prayed about that and one day this year I realized I still have many tasks but the running sensation is gone- more freedom from His grace

M

Guest4726 (guest): Papal Mass was awesome met wonderful people from around the country the people of Philedelphia were soo helpful and I have never seen soo much security the Pope had opportunity to minister to an amazing number of police secret service military and homeland security agents ! PM

Ann: The same thing happened to me, Mother. When I was younger, emotional attachments did hold me back in many ways. Now that I’m older, I have been learning to let go more and more, and He has helped me to be strong, even in some very challenging situations.

Oct 4 2015, 7:36 PM

Dawn L: Ah! Thats wonderful Bris

Oct 4 2015, 7:36 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): I think by spending much time in God’s presence, He frees us emotionally

37 PM

Judy K: Well, here I go with the first question–How do we refocus our attention on God and allow Him to bring us to our feet? The idea of reminders comes to my mind, for example, putting a note on your computer, frige, cell phone, check book (things that you use with some regularity) with a message like “Turn to Him.” PM

Lisa C: I do not understand losing emotional attachment to people whom one loves

Oct 4 2015, 7:37 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Hi Dawn

Oct 4 2015, 7:37 PM

Ann: Yes, I agree. I have experienced that first hand. It was a strength that came from somewhere outside of myself. I knew it was Him taking me by my hand and guiding me, because I know that without Him, I wouldn’t have had the strength.

Oct 4 2015, 7:37 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): In a Monastery there are so many reminders anywhere you turn, a statue, a picture, a Sister in Habit!

Oct 4 2015, 7:38 PM

Dawn L: I stumbled a lot in life, always reaching for love, until I was given the grace to see His Love

:38 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): I think its overattachment He releases one from

Oct 4 2015, 7:38 PM

Lisa C: I think the closer I am to God the stronger my emotional attachments become, because I can see more things I can do for people

Oct 4 2015, 7:39 PM

Judy K: When you a clock chime or a bell ring, turn to Him; if you see a religious picture or crucifix or finger the crucifix around your neck or the religious on your finger, turn to Him. If you awaken during the night, turn to Him. But you have to determine beforehand which ones you will use so that you can develop the habit of doing so.

Oct 4 2015, 7:39 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Unhealthy over attachment, not healthy attachment

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes St Francis de Sales asked us to turn our minds every 15 minutes to God, if we wandered in recollection

:39 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes St Francis de Sales asked us to turn our minds every 15 minutes to God, if we wandered in recollection

Oct 4 2015, 7:40 PM

Dawn L: Clear distinction, Mother

Oct 4 2015, 7:40 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Just seeing Him in everything can help

Oct 4 2015, 7:40 PM

Lisa C: Yes!

, 7:40 PM

Lisa C: He is all over naturePM

Judy K: Maybe we all should get watches with alarms so that we can set them every 15 minutes.

Oct 4 2015, 7:41 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Even when temptation comes our way we can make the sign of the cross to remind us of our Baptism and too focus instantly too God !

Oct 4 2015, 7:41 PM

Lisa C: It is harder for me to always see Him in people

Oct 4 2015, 7:41 PM

Ann: I always wake up an hour or so early, each morning, to pray and contemplate with Him. I sit outside in nature, and open my heart to His message. The beauty in silence touches me so deeply, at times it brings me to happy tears.

Oct 4 2015, 7:41 PM

Dawn L: And in others, some more visabld, but in everyone

Oct 4 2015, 7:42 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Or cell phones? But in the silence of the Monastery we could not do that!

Oct 4 2015, 7:42 PM

Ann: Silence is a beautiful gift.

Lisa C: You could have Sr. Synthia run and ring the bell every 15 minutes

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Silence is part of the basics of contemplation I think

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

Ann: He speaks volumes to me, when I am still.

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

Judy K: Mother, a lot of people use their cell phones frequently during the day. Some also have them instead of land line phones, which I suggest a note on the cell phone.

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

Guest4726 (guest): That’s beautiful Anne !

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

Ann: Yes Mother, I agree.

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Believe it or not I think years ago that’s exactly what was done but for a different reason

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

Ann: Thank you, Guest

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

Ann: Sorry I don’t know your name

Oct 4 2015, 7:43 PM

Lisa C: Was it to make them change what they were doing?

Oct 4 2015, 7:44 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes

PM

Judy K: Silence is truly necessary for contemplation. Without it, there can be no real reflection which leads to contemplation.

Oct 4 2015, 7:44 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): But since we also look at it as the call of the Spouse, one did not forget the Lord

Oct 4 2015, 7:44 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Brian

PM

Judy K: We also to be silent so that we can hear the voice of God speaking within us.

Oct 4 2015, 7:45 PM

Judy K: need to be silent

Oct 4 2015, 7:45 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): What’s interesting Judy in your first response is that in a way it also answers the third question- the combo of the material and the spiritual!

46 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Nice to meet you Anne ! You will love this community !!! Awesome children of God !!!

Oct 4 2015, 7:46 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Chimes, refrig notes, cells, all are material but can aid us in recalling God

Oct 4 2015, 7:46 PM

Ann: Thank you, Brian. I do already. I feel very comfortable here.

7 PM

Lisa C: Material things will fall into place if we pay attention to spiritual things…Mat 6 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Oct 4 2015, 7:48 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): and of course nature which is not a luxury except maybe in NYC- but is still material, God created material- not humanly made- so powerfully brings us into His Presence

Oct 4 2015, 7:48 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Amen Judy ! The busy life battles our quiet time with God !

PM

Guest4726 (guest): Amen Judy ! The busy life battles our quiet time with God !

Oct 4 2015, 7:48 PM

Judy K: In the third question, Mother, I speak of bringing about a unity of the spiritual and material, recognizing the reality that we are a unified geing made of spirit and body. We don’t act us just a spirit or just a body, but as a whole person. We do tend to pay more attention to the material. Using the “reminders ” in the first question, we can pay more attention to the spiritual and that will help to bring about the balance.

Oct 4 2015, 7:49 PM

Lisa C: 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and

Oct 4 2015, 7:49 PM

Judy K: unified being

9 PM

Lisa C: our heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. 015, 7:50 PM

Dawn L: Judy…wonderful reflection. Thank you:51 PM

Guest4726 (guest): I go to local gym at 5:15 am and while excercising I read Gods Wo

Oct 4 2015, 7:51 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes a whole person, made in His image

PM

Lisa C: True contemplation results in a loss of the need for material things. We cannot do it alone. We can begin the process with grace, but we cannot finish it. God has to finish it for us with our consent.

Oct 4 2015, 7:51 PM

Dawn L: Please pardon my typing errors, using phone. Its a challenge

M

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes a whole person, made in His image

Oct 4 2015, 7:51 PM

Lisa C: True contemplation results in a loss of the need for material things. We cannot do it alone. We can begin the process with grace, but we cannot finish it. God has to finish it for us with our consent.

Oct 4 2015, 7:51 PM

Dawn L: Please pardon my typing errors, using phone. Its a challenge

Oct 4 2015, 7:51 PM

Lisa C: It is an active and passive process.

Oct 4 2015, 7:52 PM

Guest4726 (guest): I read Gods Word the entire time

Oct 4 2015, 7:52 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Dawn you hit my funny bone- but maybe I’m just tired- it is good we know and trust one another!

Oct 4 2015, 7:52 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): How do you exercise and read at the same time

PM

Dawn L: I go to gym early mornings. I will tecit

Oct 4 2015, 7:53 PM

Judy K: Mother, I used to do word puzzles which riding a stationery bike. It made the time go faster.

Oct 4 2015, 7:54 PM

Dawn L: Recite rosary. Or hymns. So thats intergrating spiritual material, never thought of it!

Oct 4 2015, 7:54 PM

Judy K: Hi Ruth!

Oct 4 2015, 7:54 PM

Lisa C: Hi Ruth

Oct 4 2015, 7:54 PM

Ann: Hello Ruth

Oct 4 2015, 7:54 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes Lisa that is so- and it gave me a thought about poverty- how the closer we draw to God in prayer- and He becomes our all- we really don’t want or need much

Oct 4 2015, 7:54 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Hi Ruth!

M

Guest4726 (guest): Saturday at mass Father talked about blending being present with The Lord in all our daily activities and being prepared for action when called upon by God !

Oct 4 2015, 7:55 PM

Lisa C: Mother, it is the active and passive night of the soul according to St. John of the Cross

Oct 4 2015, 7:55 PM

Judy K: While receiving physical therapy, I would have to do the treadmill–I would do a meditation which walking away. I have done meditation while getting an MRI too.

MSusanMarie (guest): When you have God you have all and so poverty, chastity and obedience are natural- poverty- we have only God- chastity we have only God, obedience- we have only God and His Wioll for us

Oct 4 2015, 7:56 PM

Ruth (guest): Hi! I now hAVE two copies of Living Jesus Chat on my computer.. The other one was not working. Just Judy K and me on it.

:56 PM

Lisa C: I noticed on deployment how we all went away with just a few duffle bags and lived for a year and did not really need the things we usually have.

Oct 4 2015, 7:57 PM

Judy K: So true, Mother!

PM

Dawn L: The vows of obedience, poverty, chastity….it is possible to somewhat live those in the eorld

Oct 4 2015, 7:57 PM

Dawn L: World.

PM

Guest4726 (guest): Awesome Judy ! I make an effort at appointments to pray for those present in room and staff ! 59 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): On deployment would you say the material or spiritual was more emphasized in a battle zone? Something to think about- facingdeath, the spiritual mite predominate, but death itself means a bodily loss.

Oct 4 2015, 7:59 PM

Dawn L: I lost every material thing I had worked for, and thanked God

Oct 4 2015, 8:00 PM

Lisa C: Emphasized by whom?

Oct 4 2015, 8:00 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Oh Dawn that is a challenge- you had a blessed disposition to doso

Oct 4 2015, 8:00 PM

Judy K: Yes, Dawn, it is. Members of Secular Institutes live in the world and profess the three vows. I have professed chastity, simplicity and obedience as a single woman in the world.

Oct 4 2015, 8:00 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): By anyone

8:00 PM

Lisa C: Hmmm I think it depended on the person

Oct 4 2015, 8:01 PM

Lisa C: I think people were probably the same as they were at home.

01 PM

Dawn L: I have thought of Secular, live in very rural. A

Oct 4 2015, 8:02 PM

Judy K: Were you in the military, Lisa?

Oct 4 2015, 8:02 PM

Dawn L: area. Lately its come to me the possibiliry

Oct 4 2015, 8:02 PM

Ann: Hello Dawn, I know where you’re coming from, because I lost everything I had, about 2 months ago. Now, I just have what is necessary, but I don’t miss the things I let go of. I have been spending as much time as possible, speaking to God and praying for direction. He fills me, and the material things just don’t matter so much anymore, to me. I am sorry to hear about your losses.

Dawn L: Im so sorry!

Lisa C: There were a lot of young people and almost all of them believe in nothing. There are also a lot who do, believe, but not to an extent that they talked about God much. I did, but it was because when they said things that really would be offensive to God I tried to talk about things like Natural Law with them

Oct 4 2015, 8:02 PM

Lisa C: Judy I am still in the Army

M

Judy K: Well, I’m an Army brat, born at Fort Gordon Georgia. I call myself the Georgia Peach Army Brat.

Oct 4 2015, 8:03 PM

Lisa C: When someone died the Chaplain was involved and people prayed then because He led prayers

Oct 4 2015, 8:03 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): God allowed both of you Dawn and Ann to face an enormous challenge and you love Him so muc

PM

Dawn L: Sorry for my typing….I felt peace when everything was gone.it was a gift

Oct 4 2015, 8:04 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Amen !!!

Judy K: Hi Sister Mary Roberta!

Oct 4 2015, 8:04 PM

Lisa C: I would always put things on the white board about religious things, relivant to the date and they would often get erased by people. I kept putting them back though

Mary Roberta Viano: Hello!

Oct 4 2015, 8:04 PM

Dawn L: So more and more I trust in Hi.

Oct 4 2015, 8:04 PM

Ann: Yes Mother, my love for Him deepens every day. His love is profound, and has given me the strength to face some very challenging times. I believe that is why I can now hear His call stronger. I don’t have all the material things to clutter my energy.

Oct 4 2015, 8:05 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Hi Sister Mary Roberta !

Ann: Hello Sister Mary Roberta! My name is Ann. This is my first time chatting here.

Mary Roberta Viano: Hello, Ann!

Mary Roberta Viano: We’re having open houses all week for all of our students, so recreation went longer as we geared up.

Oct 4 2015, 8:06 PM

Dawn L: Hi Sr Mary Roberta!

PM

Judy K: The fourth question asks how we can surrender our “I want” to God so that it can be imbued with His grace and energy. We can begin by surrendering our whole lives to Him. Then place our “I wants” into His hands with an act of trust that He will treat it as He sees fit, either supplying or denying it. If our will is in uniformity with His, His denial will be our denial as well. And it is then that we see it filled with His energy and grace.

Oct 4 2015, 8:09 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Ann I encourage you too document or write down your relationship with God you will help many others grow in their Faith in God !!!!

Oct 4 2015, 8:09 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): We mite be up to the next question too

Oct 4 2015, 8:09 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: That’s what I like in my life as a religious sister: the vow of poverty. As we explained to our students, not even the cross we wear is ours. We used to exchange bedrooms every year to keep us detached.

Oct 4 2015, 8:10 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: It’s very freeing1

Oct 4 2015, 8:10 PM

Lisa C: I think it is much more difficult outside a monastery or a war zone to ignore material things

8:10 PM

Lisa C: We are bombarded by them

Oct 4 2015, 8:10 PM

Lisa C: It is clear that we do not need them

Oct 4 2015, 8:11 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: “Ask for nothing, refuse nothing,” as SFdS says.

11 PM

Ruth (guest): What does that mean, “Refuse nothing.”

Oct 4 2015, 8:11 PM

Lisa C: I don’t miss things when I am at the Monastery, or deployed

PM

Mary Roberta Viano: I found that getting rid of the TV was a good way to stop some of the commercial bombardment

PM

Judy K: But we do not need to allow ourselves to be overtaken by them. I find that I do not desire many “things” now. My greatest desire is for the Lord.

Oct 4 2015, 8:12 PM

Ruth (guest): But the monoastery and the army supply all that is needed. In the world, mostly we have to fend for ourselve. Even bringing home enough groceries for the week can be a challenge.

Oct 4 2015, 8:13 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): If something is offered to you, accept it as coming from the hand of God. Even an event, circumstance

Oct 4 2015, 8:13 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Refuse nothing means to be OK with whatever we’re asked to do or do without – so really holy obedience.

Oct 4 2015, 8:13 PM

Ann: Thank you, Brian. I have started writing several books. That will definitely be one of them. I am not published yet, but He has helped me through many trials in my life. He has nudged me for some time now and I decided that I need to turn my ear to Him alone now, because I know that He has a profound plan for my life. He got my attention by having been there for me and being my strength when I had none, and now, my love for Him is so profound, I am leaning closer, to hear what He is whispering to me.

8:13 PM

Lisa C: Ruth, they supply what we need, but we have so much more than we need in the world

PM

Judy K: My postulant mistress took those words of St. F d S as her motto. 14 PM

Guest4726 (guest): While we are out in the world it it’s a battlefield for souls also we are like Gods special forces we blend in and impact each environment we are in for Christ with prayer support from our prayer warriors i!!!

Oct 4 2015, 8:14 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: One priest-friend said, if you haven’t used something you own for a year, get rid of it. Be ruthless (pardon, Ruth!).

Oct 4 2015, 8:15 PM

Ann: Yes, exactly! Prayer warriors. I like that!

Oct 4 2015, 8:15 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Is like perfect indifference in a way, ask for nothing refuse nothing

Mary Roberta Viano: SFdS also says: “Perfection does not consist in not seeing the world, but in not relishing and savoring it…a perfect life is the perfection of charity.”

Oct 4 2015, 8:17 PM

Dawn L: Yes, Brian! We really need to support each other! Its a spiritual warzone

Oct 4 2015, 8:17 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): It’s a liberty

Oct 4 2015, 8:17 PM

Judy K: Yes, Brian, the world is a really a battlefield for souls and we can see that more and more every day what with abortion, same sex marriage, contraception, cohabitation, things that were never condoned by anyone, but now seem to be condoned by most people, or so it seems

Oct 4 2015, 8:17 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Without so many THINGS, we can focus on what’s really important: our relationship with Our Lord and with one another.

Oct 4 2015, 8:17 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Seeks neither a specific result nor rejects what actually is, wanting what God wants

PM

Judy K: And that brings us back to having wills that are in perfect uniformity with God’s, which is what you have just described, Mother.

Oct 4 2015, 8:19 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: “The providence of God is wiser than ours,” is another saying of SFdS. He will give us what we need.

Oct 4 2015, 8:20 PM

Guest4726 (guest): It is a great time for us to shine for our Lord Jesus Christ !!! People see us shine in this darkness and they begin to be drawn to Jesus !!!!

Oct 4 2015, 8:20 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes Judy- a tremendous battlefield and a battlefield in a cloud fought by many with cloudy vision. We need to see clearly and lead people out of the cloud- and pray for grace for them

Mary Roberta Viano: Pope Francis’s visit was a ray of light, guiding us out of the cloud!

Oct 4 2015, 8:21 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Our joy here is to encourage one another in our separate places- yes you are so right Sister- the sun shone all the time, literally when Pope Francis was here

Oct 4 2015, 8:21 PM

Ruth (guest): Jesus shows us by his actions — especially his healings — that God wants people to be whole and healthy. So if we are wanting that for ourselves OR for others, wanting it maybe a whole lot more than “what is” especially when we know what is possible with modern medicine — is that not doing/ wanting the Will of God.

Oct 4 2015, 8:21 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: But we focus, as he does, on the Sun/Son of God first of all – and His light for our lives.

PM

Judy K: And the Lord has prepared us to wage these battles by the Sacrament of Confirmation, which when we received it, meant becoming “soldiers of Christ.” So we need the strength of that Sacrament very much now.

Oct 4 2015, 8:22 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): Yes Ruth, we use the gifts He gave us and those He prompts us to discover

PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Yes, I keep thinking of the Oregon college students who were shot because they were Christians. Our young people are having to stand up more and more for their faith in Christ!

Oct 4 2015, 8:23 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Pope Francis set the foundation for a great revival I cannot believe the number of people that have been touched by his close relationship with Jesus !!!! Let’s get out their and bring Jesus to everyone !!!!!

Oct 4 2015, 8:23 PM

Judy K: And, Mother, when we use those gifts that we have been given, we may very well find other gifts that we never knew we had.

:24 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Quite a number of our girls got a hug or kiss or handshake from Pope Francis, and they says it has changed their lives!

Oct 4 2015, 8:25 PM

Judy K: It is easy to see Jesus in Pope Francis because he acts as Jesus would. WWJD? Look at Pope Francis!

M

Guest4726 (guest): I believe Judy said months ago that she felt many in our own country would lose their lives for Christ ! No greater Love !!!

Oct 4 2015, 8:26 PM

Ruth (guest): And Jesus left us HIMSELF — materially — HIS BODY and BLOOD — to change us into being more like HIMSELF

PM

Dawn L: Imitation of Christ…Pope Francis

Oct 4 2015, 8:27 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: But, as to our gifts, SFdS says: “God does not wish us to employ such as cannot easily be had, and He does wish us to employ those that are at hand.”

Oct 4 2015, 8:27 PM

Ann: I only got to see Pope Francis on television, but his energy is so beautiful and powerful, it touched me to tears, even at that distance. Just beautiful!

PM

Mary Roberta Viano: So, I use my abilities/gifts to do what needs to be done right around me, without looking abroad.

Oct 4 2015, 8:28 PM

Ruth (guest): Pope Francis was chosen by the Holy Spirit to lead the Church — and the world — in this day and age.

PM

Judy K: It’s funny. Before the Holy Father came, I hate to admit that I felt rather ambivalent about his visit. But when I saw him disembarking from the plane, my eyes filled with tears and I got all choked up. I was so impressed with his words and his actions toward the people.

Oct 4 2015, 8:29 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: I esp. liked Pope Francis’s stressing of the little, loving gestures, which make us holy – the Salesian “little virtues” and St. Therese of the Child Jesus’s Little Way.

PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Mother B. wants each sister at recreation tomorrow evening to explain her reaction to Pope Francis during the week he was here – should be inspiring! 1 PM

Guest4726 (guest): Remember the obedience of Pope Benedict to step down ! Great Humility and Obedience that allowed God to bring Pope Francis forward !!! Praise God !!!

Oct 4 2015, 8:31 PM

MSusanMarie (guest): That’s a great idea!

Oct 4 2015, 8:31 PM

Ruth (guest): Some say he chose the name Francis for StFdS; others for StFof Assisi. Probably both.

Oct 4 2015, 8:31 PM

Ann: That sounds very inspiring, Sister Mary Roberta!

, 8:31 PM

Mary Roberta Viano: e.g., all the things he doesn’t have, like red, leather shoes and a big car and apartment, etc.

Oct 4 2015, 8:31 PM

Lisa C: It would be nice to write it all down and have a memory book

Oct 4 2015, 8:31 PM

Judy K: Pope Francis speaks of the necessity of priests having the scent of the sheep about them. I think that we should have the scent of our shepherd about us, for we have we have his scent, we will surely have the scent of the Good Shepherd as well.

PM

Mary Roberta Viano: Well, SFdS was named for St. Francis of Assisi, so both are included in the Pope’s name.

M

MSusanMarie (guest): I am going to leave you all now- but you are in my prayers!

Oct 4 2015, 8:33 PM

Judy K: How blessed we are to be members of the Church! What a great family we have! And this little group is a microcosm of the larger family. How blessed we are to be part of it too. Good night, Mother! Good night everyone. Let us find those ways to remind us to get in touch with the Lord.

Oct 4 2015, 8:35 PM

Ann: A blessed week to you all.

Oct 4 2015, 8:36 PM

Guest4726 (guest): The Crucifix used at Papal Mass had been restored from one of churches in Philidephia that had closed ! A member of that church sat in front of me at mass she was soo filled with joy to see it. Shining for the whole world to see let’s shine for Jesus soo the whole world can see Him !!!!

Oct 4 2015, 8:38 PM
