In 1618 on this day, St Francis assisted at the death of his confessor, Father Phillip of Quoex, who was saintly and visited by his guardian Ange.
The confessor said of St Francis that he resembled St John the Baptist for his purity and St Charles Borromeo for his poverty, humility and zeal.
