May 22 2016, 8:00 PM

Dawn L: would this be what some saints have experienced, St Faustina for instance?

May 22 2016, 8:00 PM

Ruth (guest): God — except for Jesus — does not literally have a face. And yet looking into the eyes of someone who is very, very loving, does seem to approximate that “beatific vision” — someone who knows you from the inside and loves you.

May 22 2016, 8:01 PM

Amy Cochran: true, and people describe heaven as seeing your relatives, friends, etc. or is it like the best of times in adoration when one feels the unity with Christ/

May 22 2016, 8:02 PM

Amy Cochran: nice, Ruth, and you are right, but what about the expression someone that no one can look at the face of God and live? and Moses saw God. it’s a big mystery

May 22 2016, 8:03 PM

Ruth (guest): And you love and admire that person. Yes, Amy, I think that Jesus gave us the Eucharist to give us a small foretaste of heaven as well as a means of being nourished on the journey to heaven.

May 22 2016, 8:03 PM

Amy Cochran: when we get to heaven we will not need the Eucharist

May 22 2016, 8:04 PM

Ruth (guest): Moses saw the back of God pass by. And he SPOKE with God as friends speak to one another face-to-face I seem to remember.

May 22 2016, 8:05 PM

Amy Cochran: you are right or when he went up to the mountain, didn’t he talk to God? I guess we can ask him one day

May 22 2016, 8:05 PM

Dawn L: thats correct Ruth, there is the painting of God’s back

May 22 2016, 8:06 PM

Amy Cochran: it’s hard to perceive the term spirit without putting a character to it

May 22 2016, 8:06 PM

Amy Cochran: since God is our Father I imagine my father, and his love

May 22 2016, 8:07 PM

Ruth (guest): Yes, Amy, we celebrate the Eucharist “until He comes again” or “until He comes in Glory.”

May 22 2016, 8:08 PM

Ruth (guest): That’s wonderful, Amy, that your father could become for you an “icon” of the heavenly Father.

May 22 2016, 8:08 PM

Amy Cochran: Didn’t Thomas Aquinas write on this and then one day shut his book and said that’s enough, and then briefly after died. some say he had a view of the beatific vision

May 22 2016, 8:10 PM

Ruth (guest): “All that I have written is as straw” St. Th Aquinas wrote. And the apostles, some of them had a “vision” of Jesus TRANSFIGURED. They wanted to build extra tents and stay there!

May 22 2016, 8:11 PM

Amy Cochran: that’s it, Ruth!!! I knew he said something profound like that. wow

May 22 2016, 8:12 PM

Ruth (guest): That was even though God had already told Th Aquinas that he was pleased with what he had written.

May 22 2016, 8:14 PM

Amy Cochran: at the resurrection of the dead will we recognize our loved ones? I always wondered that, as I only knew my parents as older, not as young people. and some people I could never imagine young

May 22 2016, 8:14 PM

Dawn L: has anyone here read Aquinas great work? I have not, having this belief I would not get it

May 22 2016, 8:15 PM

Amy Cochran: Aquinas is hard…

May 22 2016, 8:15 PM

SrSusan (guest): Sorry I am late I was at 25th Jubilee in the Diocese

May 22 2016, 8:15 PM

Dawn L: that is a good question Amy, if we will see our loved ones

, 8:16 PM

Ruth (guest): There is one place in S Scripture where it says, “And God laughed.” I can’t remember the circumstances . . . what kind of laughter and why, but I think that there must be a lot of good, holy laughter in heaven . . . in spite of all the evil things that are happening here on earth. :18 PM

Amy Cochran: I know dawn, I don’t know what tradition says, but moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus at the transfiguration. how did they know who they were?

Amy Cochran: the holy spirit, I guess?

May 22 2016, 8:19 PM

Ruth (guest): When my father was dying he “dreamt” that he saw a little stream and followed it to it’s source: two of his infant grandsons who had died at birth, peeing in the sand. That is how he knew he was about to “see” them soon. But that is one man’s psychological image of heaven. I suppose we will “see” our relatives if that is what is important to our happiness.

May 22 2016, 8:19 PM

Ruth (guest): Nothing will be missing from our happiness.

May 22 2016, 8:20 PM

Dawn L: did you travel far to the Diocese, Mother? glad you are home and here with us

Ruth (guest): Hello Sr. Susan. Jubilee of sisters after 25 years, or is it 25 years since Brooklyn and Rockville Center diocese split of from the Diocese of New York?

May 22 2016, 8:21 PM

SrSusan (guest): about 35 miles

May 22 2016, 8:22 PM

SrSusan (guest): No- Jubilee for 25, 50, 60 65 70 amd 75! years

May 22 2016, 8:22 PM

Lisa C: Mother, was it your jubilee?

May 22 2016, 8:22 PM

SrSusan (guest): Nuns and brothers

May 22 2016, 8:22 PM

SrSusan (guest): Yes 25 years

May 22 2016, 8:22 PM

Ruth (guest): Congratulations!

SrSusan (guest): Thank you

May 22 2016, 8:23 PM

Dawn L: 25 yrs, that is wonderful!

May 22 2016, 8:23 PM

Dawn L: and someone 75 yrs?!

May 22 2016, 8:24 PM

SrSusan (guest): 7 for 75 years!

May 22 2016, 8:24 PM

SrSusan (guest): only 10 for 25 years

May 22 2016, 8:24 PM

SrSusan (guest): the most was 60 years- I did not count- so many!

May 22 2016, 8:24 PM

Ruth (guest): We’ve been trying to “picture” what heaven will be like — the unimaginable — what God has prepared for those who love him.

, SrSusan (guest): Bliss beyond imagining

:25 PM

Ruth (guest): Wow!

May 22 2016, 8:25 PM

SrSusan (guest): Heaven- we will be within the Trinity

May 22 2016, 8:26 PM

Lisa C: There are choirs of angels in heaven singing, but there is no time. How is there music without time?

May 22 2016, 8:26 PM

Ruth (guest): Sisters must have a healthy life style to live long enough to celebrate their 60th and 75th jubilees.

May 22 2016, 8:26 PM

SrSusan (guest): One eternal sound?

at it will be like with no timeā€¦.perfection with no change?

May 22 2016, 8:26 PM

Ruth (guest): Lisa, you make me laugh! Good laughter.

May 22 2016, 8:26 PM

SrSusan (guest): like the Trinity- one God, 3 persons; one sound, many notes????

2016, 8:27 PM

Lisa C: Ruth, I cannot help thinking this way. 16, 8:27 PM

Ruth (guest): You are so logical. 27 PM

Ruth (guest): You need not help it. It is delightful.

May 22 2016, 8:27 PM

Dawn L: within the Trinity , embraced

, 8:28 PM

Ruth (guest): As long as it doesn’t get you “stuck” in the questions. 2 2016, 8:28 PM

Lisa C: No, I do not get stuck

May 22 2016, 8:28 PM

Dawn L: I have never thought of this

2016, 8:28 PM

Lisa C: It makes me realize that we cannot understand what it is like016, 8:30 PM

SrSusan (guest): Let God surprise us- which He will anyway6, 8:30 PM

Ruth (guest): When I was a child and my mother read me the story of Rapunzel, whom the wicked witch locked in a tower, but to visit her the witch had to climb up Rapunzel’s long braids, I asked, “If the witch couldn’t get into the tower without climbing Rapunzel’s long hair, than how did the witch put Rapunzel in the tower in the first place?”

May 22 2016, 8:31 PM

SrSusan (guest): The happiest moment of your life- intensified eternally- a glance at what heaven might be like

Lisa C: Sr. Margaret Mary told us that when we got to heaven we would know and see everything like God does.

May 22 2016, 8:32 PM

Dawn L: funny, Ruth

, 8:32 PM

Lisa C: She still is

May 22 2016, 8:32 PM

Ruth (guest): Logic is useful but it falls apart — in some ways — when it dances with LOVE, MERCY, REDEMPTION.

, 8:33 PM

Lisa C: Child logic of mine: God knows how many heartbeats I will have. If I run and my heart speeds up I will die sooner. Then I realized I can run, because God knows how many times I will run. 34 PM

Dawn L: holy humor in here today!

May 22 2016, 8:34 PM

Ruth (guest): I delight in letting a Mystery remain a Mystery.

ay 22 2016, 8:35 PM

SrSusan (guest): Judy returns next week. I will be at our Sacred Heart Novena Mass next week- should we do a chat anyway- you all do fine !!

May 22 2016, 8:35 PM

Ruth (guest): Yes, Dawn, you were thinking like a mathematician and a theologian as a child.

May 22 2016, 8:36 PM

SrSusan (guest): Our Novena runs at 730 P from May 26 to June 3

May 22 2016, 8:36 PM

Ruth (guest): But, as I’m sure you now know, not like a physician. Your heart gets stronger; you live longer, when you exercise regularly. God knows, but the equation changes.

May 22 2016, 8:36 PM

Ruth (guest):

May 22 2016, 8:37 PM

Dawn L:

May 22 2016, 8:37 PM

SrSusan (guest): We have a Sister emergency=have to go= someone is locked out.

May 22 2016, 8:39 PM

Dawn L: next week, next meditation 9... is this correct? It is The Choice of Paradise. should we meet in chat?

May 22 2016, 8:41 PM

Ruth (guest): Yes, Dawn, I think so. But I may not be “with” you. I have my total knee replacement on Thursday, May 26th. My PCP recommends that I stay in the hospital as long as the insurance will allow – probably because I live alone and it’ll be a challenge.

May 22 2016, 8:42 PM

Ruth (guest): Good night Any and Dawn. Have a wonderful week.

May 22 2016, 8:42 PM
