Spiritual Directory of St. Francis de Sales
Learn to accept that God can withdraw His felt nearness from us. The most difficult thing He requires of his friends is the renunciation, the demand not to despair of His eternal goodness, even when we feel forsaken by Him.
“Father, into your hands I commend My spirit.”( Luke 23:46)
When we have said this, what remains but to take the last breath and to die of love? We no longer live, but Christ lives in us.
