We conclude our “behind the scenes” visit to a Visitation Monastery Chapter Room as Mother Mary de Sales Chappuis gives a final exhortation to her Sisters during Lent.
“During the days of Lent which still remain, we will all become disciples; we will yield to the neighbor on all occasions; we will condescend to her will; we will consult her inclinations to testify the respect, esteem and honor which we owe to her. We will do this to honor the state of humiliation in which the Savior remained at the door of the Judgement Hall. This will enable us to receive the effects of the grace which He then merited for us and which is poured on the soul every time that she humbles herself.
All depends on the Charity of the Savior; it inspires the charity and affection with which we do our good works.
If we wish to be true to God and to ourselves we shall enter this Holy Week with a sincere desire to learn from the Savior how to obey. The Savior was the first to practice obedience, and our Vow derives its value from His obedience. “
