What is it like in a Monastery during Holy Week? How does a Superior prepare her Sisters for this most profound time?

Often, there are “Chapter” meetings, in which the Superior of the community shares spiritual thoughts to inspire the Sisters. This week we take you “behind the scenes” to a Chapter talk by Venerable Mother Mary de Sales Chappuis, VHM, the “good Mother”.

Part 1

“Once more we are to spend the holy week of the Passion with the Savior while He sacrifices Himself for us to His Father. Our special duty must be to occupy ourselves with His passion; to consider it, to study and love it; it must nourish our souls, enlighten and instruct them, it must strengthen our will.

Esteem and love for the Passion should be our bond with the Savior to unite us to God. If during many years we have not known how to draw the fruit that is attached to it, if we have not received and profited by the lights, the knowledge that it brings to the soul, if we have not as our vocation demands done all to honor it, let us now comprehend how great, how precious are the advantages attached to the loving fulfilment of its duties.

The Savior suffered for all and from all. We find abundantly, in the merits of our Savior’s Passion, all the graces, all the means that we need.”
