The theme for this month could be: bring Back the Supernatural in our lives!
Ven. Marie of the Sacred Heart Bernaud, VHM, writes:
“Another year has ended! Where do they go, these joyful or sad parts of our lives? A question full of melancholy! If the uncertainties of the future should cause us some terror what about those in the past that are gone? We will meet again on the threshold of eternity.
But the future remains, promising some many years, others a few months! For all there remains enough to gain heaven. Whether God gives us a lot or a little time, offer him a SUPERNATURAL SPIRIT! In effect, even if we have a prestigious life in the eyes of men, if we neglect to supernaturalize our actions, our time, as valuable as it seems to us, is lost.
Let our thoughts be supernatural. When Christians face the last day, and all the secrets of our hearts are revealed, let us not blush with shame, that our thoughts, outside of our prayers, were no better than honest unbelievers. How many souls are lost through too many material concerns, facing earth rather than filled with the holy thoughts of heaven?
In our conversations , how often do we show that we are Christians ? Are we ashamed of our state ? We speak so little of our baptism , the grace of God and the sacraments , Jesus , Sacred Heart , the Church of Mary, our hope of heaven , holy things … Even in our families, we dare not speak of it, as if it were absolutely foreign to us! “Who has not the spirit of Jesus Christ does not belong “ said St. Paul. Well let’s be supernatural in our actions, our words, our thoughts!
Of course, there are those who are do so in prayer, the Eucharist, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament … but we need to get the supernatural within the program of our days . If work is required of us , we can supernaturalize it by being obedient and by pious thoughts. It will be pleasing to God and meritorious for heaven. Our days are filled with earthly cares but we can all supernaturalize : ” Whatever you do , whether you eat, whatever you drink , do all to the glory of God. ” St Paul said again.
Let us be supernatural in our intentions. Behind our self-esteem and personal interests , behind our unfruitful works , behind routine , establish our thoughts in the supernatural order and have care not to stop before sleep finally comes to close our eyes. “
