This month we celebrate the death of Jesus and celebrate his resurrection. It is important for us  to find a balance between our material life and spiritual life. Sister Marie of the Sacred Heart Bernaud wrote this about it :

” Inner Life : Man is composed of two substances , one material , the other spiritual , therefore, a body and a soul which must necessarily live and coexist , one exterior and one interior . When an equilibrium is established between this life together , we experience a foretaste of eternal bliss . But many obstacles stand against this harmony : agitation, noise, even natural activity, eagerness, anxiety, desire to see , know , hear,  etc … All are opposed to contemplation of the inner life and thus union with God .

Another obstacle is the legitimate concerns themselves ( living, dressing, eating … ) . They absorb so many Christians  with too much ardor for their temporal affairs while neglecting those of their sanctification !
We must therefore fight to take a moderate but certainly conscientious care of world affairs in order to keep the best of its forces to raise our soul to a higher life where we expect our Lord.  God judges all things with wisdom,  all things in moderation , with patience and calm.  We  do not act with haste , nor by impulsivity , on the contrary, under the impulse of faith , love of duty, all is in great serenity . It brings joy without dissipation, without pain, work unflinchingly. We  look like a big tranquil lake which reflects the whole firmament.
If we Honor Guards already live like this, nothing will be simpler, more familiar , comfortable and efficient for our inner life when every day it takes precedence over our outer life . This is the safest means of our sanctification and the assurance of our salvation ! In the beautiful areas of the inner life bloom all the virtues of the heart to feed our souls ! “
