What shape does your cross of charity take? How can you reach out to others the remaining days of Lent?
What is the difference between giving of yourself when it is easy, and giving of yourself when it is difficult? Why do we receive more merit and graces when we give of ourselves when it is most difficult?
How can we “lay down or lives” for our friends, and what does this mean?

SR Susan: I see my “cross of charity” in the areas of freedom rather than duty

Al: really? how is that?

Sister Susan Marie: When a situation is before you and it’s one’s responsibility, a given responsibility, the cross seems clearer than when one needs to volunteer to “lay down one’s life” so to speak

Al: oh yes! That is so true

Sister Susan Marie: We have some very fine novices who do not hesitate to jump up during a meal in thoughtfulness to help an elderly sister. I see that as real charity

Al: giving of time is harder than money for me

Sister Susan Marie: This line really caught my attention:He also spent his entire life even shaping His cross”

Sister Susan Marie: Shaping one’s cross or having it shaped by the Lord

Al: wow that is something to think about

Sister Susan Marie: A “lonely cross” if one loses a friend

Am: like the old adage about each one’s cross is unique and suited for us as individuals

Sister Susan Marie: Yes exactly

Al: the older i get, the truer it becomes

Am: And if you ask for crosses, you will get them!

Sister Susan Marie: Yes like a victim soul, God answers those prayers

Ali: holy cow! i dont think i am brave enough to ask for a cross7:

in fact when i see one coming, i sometimes try to wish it away! LOL

Sister Susan Marie: But when you tell the Lord you will do His Holy Will you might be unknowingly doing it

Am: The victim soul is the ultimate in consoling Jesus, but it is truly easier said than done

Mary Roberta Viano: Hello, Friends and Fellow Cross-Bearers!

Alice Lewis-Eckardt: I like that Sister!

Am: Cross-bearing is the Christian life, but modern society doesn’t understand suffering

Mary Roberta Viano: SFdS points out, “This wisdom (i.e, the folly of the Cross) is wholly contrary to that of the world.” So true!

Mary Roberta Viano: And in the same sermon for Lent he continues,” Perfection of the Cross requires that we endure labors, persecutions and reprehensions for justice’s sake.”
