In August 1891, Sister Marie of the Sacred Heart invited the Guards of Honor to be faithful and consistent with God’s Will. Vacation time lends itself to this kind of spiritual deepening. See the tips that our founder gave to help us in our thinking:
Fidelity to the duties of state:
“It does not matter whether we are rich or poor, learned or ignorant, honored or despised as long as we are what God wants us to be ! A Seraph, a blade of grass like a cedar, glorify the Lord in their own way, provided they meet and hold the position that Providence has assigned them.
Absorb well this thought: whatever our duties of state, our position on the social ladder, it is in their faithful fulfillment that will determine our degree of glory in heaven.
It is written: “Woe to the man who does the work of God negligently. “This work is one of our perfection! this we must do well . You want to love, glorify, console the Heart of Jesus Well, do what you do, fill your task with courage, supernaturalize your smallest acts, have in all the desire to please Him and do His will and be at peace! When the routine creates monotony and weariness and alas, disgust, fight bravely and we will win.
Similarly, hunting illusions, temptations that make us think that we would be better elsewhere than the place we occupy is the best way to neglect our duties of state!
Do not seek holiness outside the path where Providence has placed us. Focus all your efforts on duty to fulfill in a spirit of filial and loving submission, God’s will! We will achieve the purpose for which God created us, which is to know, to love, to serve and thereby gain eternal life. ” Oh, it does not take much to be holy since it suffices to do the will of God! ‘‘ said St. Francis de Sales.
Nothing is more simple and nothing is better because it is the only path that leads to holiness. “(Sr Marie of the Sacred Heart Bernaud)
