The film-in-progress, “Cor Jesus Mecum Est “by Roberto Luis Garay will be shooting in Rosolini Italy, September 28th, the same day of the grand celebration of the Sacred Heart there.
This is so important to the Order of the Visitation because part of the film centers on Mother Carmela Aprile, whose mission was eventually entrusted to the Visitation Sisters and whose monastery has had charge of the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart in that City and remains closely associated with it.
Mr. Roberto Garay, born in Argentina April 27, 1961 is well known in South America, but also in Hollywood his name is appreciated and sought after. Last year 2013 his “Ida y vuelta” won the award for best TV drama for Argentina, which was broadcast on the channel Cablevision. Passion and professionalism characterize his commitment to the world of television and cinema.
Now September 28, 2014 he will be back in Italy with his first shooting for the film “Cor Jesus Mecum East” in collaboration with INCAA (Institute Cine Argentino) and the Institute LIGHT- Cinecittà. The film in its narration is intertwined with the true story of Mother Carmela Aprile, the nun who is in the heart of Rosolinesi and the Sicilians, even those who are scattered around the world. Mother Carmela is a mother figure in a way that is sincere, intense and authentic. The decision to begin filming on the day of September 28 is not random, because this is the day in which they honor and celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to whom Mother Carmela gave all of herself.
On this day the painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is released from the Sanctuary, where it remains kept throughout the year and this will also be the right opportunity to start shooting on the life of religion. The film was shot partly in Argentina and partly in Italy, as has Mr Garay’s previous works. It promises to be successful because the narrative turns out to be very timely and rotates round the two continents, America and Europe, and in particular Argentina and Italy.
The plot of the film has as its theme the story and the figure of Mother Carmela Aprile, but then this is intertwined with other stories of immigration in Argentina and Italy, exploring and narrating stories common to many problems related to money, affections, of contrasts and traditions.
The film will then be screened both in Europe and in America, as in all the previous work of director Garay. So this is a story that flies on two wings and two continents, one in the past and the other directed to the present to search for and remember their origins and history. Mother Carmela April is the soul of Sicily.
In the center and in the heart of the city of Rosolini, the Cathedral Church of St. Joseph refers to and relates spontaneously to the Monastery of the Vistation Rosolini, more commonly known as the Shrine of the Sacred Heart,. It is connected to the origins of its Founder who was Mother Carmela Aprile, born in Rosolini 25 April 1878
In 1907 Mother Carmela bought the actual image of the Sacred Heart and the sacrifice of that purchase is still alive and powerful because this is really the point of origin of the heart of the identity of Rosolinesi who continue to love and venerate the image.
Faith becomes the unifying element in the history of this film, under the impulse of an old urban legend of Sicilian origin which says: “If someone leans against the door and focuses, and listens carefully … one can hear the voice of those times when Mother Carmela Aprile and Maria Rosa were the protagonists of the history of the Sacred Heart Shrine in person and the angels gave them the assignment to build it up. ”
