Towards the beatification of St. Teresa’s sister

Monsignor Jean-Claude Boulanger, Bishop of Bayeux and Lisieux, will officially announce this Saturday, opening of the process towards beatification and canonization of “the servant of God, Sister Françoise-Thérèse,” known as Leonie Martin, sister of St. Therese of Lisieux (also born in Alençon).

Leonie Martin rests in the crypt of the Monastery of the Visitation in Caen, where she was a religious 1899 to 1941.

The announcement will take place during a Mass celebrated at the monastery of the Visitation in Caen, on the occasion of the feast of St. Francis de Sales, patron of the parish home to the monastery, and co-founder of the order of Visitation in 1610 with St. Jane de Chantal.

Leonie Martin was a religious in the Monastery of the Visitation of 1899-1941.

“For many years, people trusted in the prayer of Léonie Martin, coming to her grave in the Monastery of the Visitation where she was a religious from 1899 to 1941. They reflect graces received thanks to her intercession” , says Father Lawrence Berthout, Episcopal Delegate for information.

For the record, the blessed parents of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux and Sister Françoise-Thérèse could be canonized this year.Louis and Zelie Martin were beatified Oct. 19, 2008.This proclamation could come at the time of the conclusion of the Synod of the family from 4 to 25 October 2015.
