Sunday is the Feast of Corpus Christi, or Body and Blood of Christ. St. Francis de Sales had a tremendous love of the Holy Eucharist.
He once said,
I will tell you about one of (my great thoughts) which came to me on the octave day of Corpus Christi when I was carrying the Blessed Sacrament at the last procession. … I was adoring him whom I was carrying, and my heart knew that he was the true Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. O holy and divine Lamb, I said, how poor and needy I was without you! Alas, I have no other clothing but your poor wool to cover my misery before the face of your Father. And here is what Isaiah said about this thought, that Our Lord in his passion was as a lamb before his shearer and did not open his mouth. And what is that divine fleece if not the merit, if not the example, if not the mystery of the cross?
