220px-Maria_CrostarosaToday Saturday June 18, 2016 Ven. Maria Celeste Costarosa, Foundress of the Redemptoristines,  has been beatified.

The Visitation Sisters join with the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer in giving thanks for this honor.

Blessed Marie Celeste, for a short time in her life, followed the Rule of the Visitation Order, which has always been a point of interest for us. We also celebrate how God led her to found a new contemplative congregation in the Church!

Important moments in the life of the new Blessed:

Born: October 31, 1695
Died: September 14, 1755

1696: Born October 31 in Naples, Italy.
1719: Professed Religious Vows
1723: October, Bishop closes the convent
1724: Maria Celeste and her sisters Ursula and Joan settle in Scala, Italy; living the rule of the Visitation
1724: April 25, revelation to found a new order of Nuns.
1731: May 13 (Pentecost Sunday) the nuns adopt the rule of The Order of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorisitines)
1732: November 9, The Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer is founded.
1738: Celeste and Ursula go to Foggia. Joan enters a different convent.
1755: September 14, Celeste dies. St. Gerard Majella (a Redemptorist) said to a brother: “ I have just seen the soul of Mother Maria Celeste take flight for heaven.”
