St. Therese of Lisieux sister, Leonie Martin, from the Caen Monastery of the Visitation, whose beatification began will have a restored chapel which should reopen by the end of October for remains to be venerated.
The Sisters of the Visitation in Caen are appealing for donations to restore part of the chapel of the monastery at Caen just behind the Abbaye aux Hommes.
This chapel will host, in January 2017, Léonie Martin, one of the sisters of St. Therese of Lisieux, and therefore daughter of Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin, canonized in autumn 2015.
Sister Francoise Therese (Leonie Martin) took the religious habit at the Monastery of the Visitation.
A few weeks after launching the beatification process, Leonie Martin’s remains were exhumed on April 25, 2015. “The body of our sister appeared mummified and in perfect preservation”, explains the Visitation sisters.
In January 2017, the grave of Leonie Martin will be transferred to the monastery chapel to be “available for the veneration of pilgrims.”
But work was necessary to allow it.
