For several years we have been updating you about the progress of a film that encompasses a wide spectrum of interest for us as Visitandines: Mother Carmela Aprile( http://visitationspirit.org/2013/08/mother-rosolini-sept-mystic-of-the-month/ ) who was ultimately responsible, through her devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, for the foundation of the Visitation Monastery in Rosolini, Sicily, Italy, is a main subject of an upcoming film “Cor Jesus Mecum Est”
The newest information, from Italy, can be accessed here: http://www.4live.it/2017/03/regista-roberto-l-garay-dalla-argentina-alla-sicilia-cor-jesus-mecum-est/
We paraphrase and translate parts of the above article here:
“The Argentine director Roberto Luis Garay, filmmaker, director, film and television producer and university professor UAI-INCAA (Inter-University) is back in Italy, in Sicily, to continue, since the end of February, the filming of ” Cor Jesus Mecum East “. The film “Cor Jesus Mecum East” is an Argentine- Italian production.
The plot of the film has as its theme the history and the figure of Mother Carmela Aprile but this is then interwoven with other stories of immigration between Argentina and Italy, exploring and telling stories common to many.
Among these contrasts of light and shadow, of goodness and malice, opportunism and sincerity, the figure of Mother Carmela remains the glue that brings together and puts in harmony all the characters involved in the story.
The film will be screened both in Europe and in America, as in all previous works of Director Garay. And so this a story that flies on two wings and two continents, with immigrants finding and remembering their origins and history.
Mother Carmela Aprile is often seen as the soul of Sicily. In the center and heart of the city of Rosolini, the Monastery of the Visitation of Rosolini, more commonly known as the Shrine of the Sacred Heart, truly and intensely represents the beating heart and throbbing of Rosolinesi. This love that has become their identity and belonging, began long ago and connects to the origins of its founder who was Carmela Aprile, born in Rosolini April 25, 1878.
The first film will be screened at the Vatican, and soon after in the city of Rosolini, city of Mother Carmela, after which the feature will travel across the ocean, across many cities.”
Thanks to the holiness of Mother Carmela Aprile, the Sacred Heart of Jesus has become better known and the Visitation Order was enabled to spread its contemplative influence to Rosolini. With the emphasis on immigration in our contemporary world, the film will also be very timely as it explores the experience of emigrants to Argentina, from Italy, and back again.
The deadline for filming is April 2018 and the film is expected to be shown at the Vatican in July 2018.
