Think about how deeply profound this reflection is. How should such truth resonate within the Church? How can it help cure a lukewarm soul? Consider how much and how often we long for human affection and companionship, and how easily our hearts feel empty at the absence of a loved one. How can we embrace God in the same way? God is endlessly pursuing us. How can we not just better respond to this, but better understand that we are loved — no matter how sinful and wretched and unlovable we may fee

Nov 10, 12:05 PM

Visitation Sr (Guest): at times?
Why do you think God went through such great lengths to redeem us? Why do you think we are so valued by God?

Guest754Judy (Guest): Well, into the profound reflection. It is indeed profound to consider the fact that the Lord knew each one of us and formed us in our mother’s womb. And then, as He hung on the cross suffering untold agony. He had each one of us in mind, preparing for us everything needful for our salvation. This truth should so resonate in the Church, that is in each and everyone of us, that we would be willing to shout it fro housetops.

Nov 12, 7:33 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Hi Sister Susan many prayers for you on your retreat !!! Hi Dawn and Judy

Nov 12, 7:34 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Hi Dawn and Judy ! God Bless You ! Brian

Nov 12, 7:34 PM

Dawn (Guest): Hi Brian! Peace be with you!

Nov 12, 7:34 PM

Carol Ann: Hi Everyone

Nov 12, 7:35 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Sitting quietly before a crucifix and realizing the great fire that moved our Lord to suffer so, to see His arms outstretched as if to embrace every soul He created, should certainly help to cure a lukewarm soul. It would hopefully catch the fire emanating from the wounded hear of the Savior.

Nov 12, 7:35 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Hi Brian and Carol Ann!

Nov 12, 7:35 PM

Dawn (Guest): Hi Carol Ann! <3

Nov 12, 7:35 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Hi Carol Ann ! God Bless You ! Brian

Nov 12, 7:36 PM

Carol Ann: It is always good to be here!

Nov 12, 7:36 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Oops, that should be wounded heart of the Savior.

Nov 12, 7:37 PM

Carol Ann: I think people don’t believe Jesus loves them that much because no human person has ever really loved them that way

Nov 12, 7:37 PM

Dawn (Guest): a painting with your words

Nov 12, 7:39 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Even though people have not experienced great love from other people, the reality of Jesus’ sufferings should convince anyone of His great love for us. What else could move someone to go through what He suffered for us. Only love.

Nov 12, 7:40 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Jesus has shattered the walls that separated us in this life ! As we Love others even our deepest enemy we are helping God to tear down the walls that surround those that are around us daily !

Nov 12, 7:42 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Paul says that the love of Christ impels us. Surely it is His love that enables us to love others, especially our enemies.

Nov 12, 7:42 PM

Dawn (Guest): a reflection , it was only later I was able to look back in my life and see moments times situations whispers saving loving, his loving always even in my darkest times

Nov 12, 7:43 PM

Carol Ann: Yes, and it looks like i am in different spot again tonight, thinking of all the hurting who cannot see it, and who do not look back and see Him where He acted

Nov 12, 7:44 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Hi Lisa and Ruth!

Nov 12, 7:44 PM

Lisa C: Hi All

Nov 12, 7:44 PM

Carol Ann: Hi Ruth and Lisa

Nov 12, 7:44 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): We wonder why we suffer Soo much sometimes . It is always Soo that others may know God . Always an opportunity to Love others and to point others to Ou Lord Jesus Christ ! Soo they also may be free eternally to serve God !

Nov 12, 7:44 PM

Dawn (Guest): a shattered wall that separated us! words expression <3

Nov 12, 7:44 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): I’ve been having some dark days lately, but I can still recognize the love of the Lord present in my life.

Nov 12, 7:46 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): True Brian. Our own sufferings make it easier for us to identify with the sufferings of others

Nov 12, 7:46 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): You are a bright light for Jesus Judy !!!

Nov 12, 7:46 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Thank you, Brian!

Nov 12, 7:47 PM

Ruth (Guest): Hello Lisa, Carol Ann, Dawn, Judy, and Brian. Glad you all are here.

Nov 12, 7:47 PM

Dawn (Guest): Hi Ruth ! <3

Nov 12, 7:47 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Hi Ruth ! God Bless You ! Brian

Nov 12, 7:48 PM

Carol Ann: Me too, Judy, and when we turn our focus away from our sufferings and onto Christ, we are able to go on.

Nov 12, 7:48 PM

Dawn (Guest): I am glad you are here also Ruth.

Nov 12, 7:48 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Amen Carol Ann !!!

Nov 12, 7:49 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): What a blessing it is to know that no matter how far down we may feel, we still know that the Lord loves us and always will. How comforting!!

Nov 12, 7:51 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): It gets very very tough but Jesus gets us through ! I always like to remember when the enemy goes after me he is leaving someone else alone and God is bringing them closer to Him everyday !

Nov 12, 7:51 PM

Ruth (Guest): And that He gives us an example of how our sufferings can be useful in the economy of Salvation.

Nov 12, 7:52 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): RE: Question 2, when we consider the great suffering that the Lord endured for us and the love that motivated that suffering, we should be willling to roun with open arms into the arms of the Lord and embrace Him from the depths of our being. Love such as His seeks love in return and so we should bestow it upon Him willingly and generously.

Nov 12, 7:52 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Run with open arms.

Nov 12, 7:52 PM

Carol Ann: Me and me little pictures! https://www.pinterest.com/pin/549579960754476445/

Nov 12, 7:53 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): We are Jesus’s front line troops we will endure whatever we must even giving up our lives Soo that others will come to Jesus !!!

Nov 12, 7:54 PM

Carol Ann: We can share how we turn to Him and how that changes things for us

Nov 12, 7:55 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): I frequently copy such pictures and put them in a lucite box beneath my TV. I have quite a collection and try to match the picture to the feast of the day.

Nov 12, 7:55 PM

Ruth (Guest): Oh, Brian, I do not want take from you any comfort, but I am afraid that the Evil One has so many sub-honchoes that his keeping busy attacking you will not necessarily give anyone else relief. It’s

Nov 12, 7:56 PM

Carol Ann: Me too, Judy, and I find that they pop into mind at just the right moment–there seems to be a picture that matches every situation that speaks to me

Nov 12, 7:57 PM

Dawn (Guest): some relief in knowing the closer we come to Jesus the more we will be harassed.

Nov 12, 7:58 PM

Ruth (Guest): Enjoying the pictures, Carol Ann; thanks for the link.

Nov 12, 7:58 PM

Carol Ann: then if the harassment gets really bad, we know we are doing something right

Nov 12, 7:59 PM

Dawn (Guest): I saved it Carol Ann…thank you

Nov 12, 7:59 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): The wonderful thing Ruth is when the subhonchos come to Christ ! They lead countless souls to heaven . Look at St Paul and St Augustine and Soo many others including me !!!

Nov 12, 8:00 PM

Carol Ann: Thank you for letting me share a tiny portion of my favorites. I often use these to begin contemplation and then let God take me where He wills

Nov 12, 8:01 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): And how often it seems that those who come to the Lord later on in life are much more devout than many of us who have known Him for years

Nov 12, 8:02 PM

Dawn (Guest): thank you for sharing!

Nov 12, 8:02 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Wow ! Really beautiful Carol Ann!

Nov 12, 8:02 PM

Ruth (Guest): Brian, that is true if we are speaking of HUMANs as “subhonchos”; trouble is, there’s a whole army of FALLEN ANGEL subhonchos who do not convert. But we have Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Father, and all the good angels on our side, so we need never dispair.

Nov 12, 8:04 PM

Dawn (Guest): Amen. and sometimes I recall Therese saying satan is a coward, and remember ing this I smile about it.

Nov 12, 8:04 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Even if we must die for the Lord His Love Endures Forever !!!

Nov 12, 8:04 PM

Ruth (Guest): Carol Ann, that is pretty much what I was doing today, with the amazing stained glass windows in St. Agnes Church, Lake Placid. The artists’ rendering of various biblical scenes assists our own imagination . . .

Nov 12, 8:05 PM

Lisa C: Computer keeps freezing

Nov 12, 8:05 PM

Dawn (Guest): Hi Lisa! cover it with a scarf haha

Nov 12, 8:06 PM

Ruth (Guest): Good reminder Dawn.

Nov 12, 8:06 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Hi Lisa ! God Bless You ! Brian

Nov 12, 8:06 PM

Carol Ann: Yes, Ruth, I think that is the original purpose of all religious art-to teach and to inspire the imagination. Very Ignatian!

Nov 12, 8:06 PM

Carol Ann: That’s funny Dawn

Nov 12, 8:06 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Look out below, My response to question 3 is a long one. In order to truly understand that we are loved by God in spite of our sinfulness, wretchedness, and unloveableness, we again need to reflect seriously and at some length, about the sufferings of Jesus, not as a whole, but each individual suffering beginning with Judas’ betrayal and Peter’s denial of Him, as well as His deep agony in the Garden,

Dawn (Guest): Icon art….does anyone here pray with Icon writing? I see alot of it but do not understand much so I continue to look at it and save it

Nov 12, 8:08 PM

Dawn (Guest): Lisa are you here with us?

Nov 12, 8:09 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Ruth it is really important to share this artwork with the youth today they are Soo visually hypervigilant ! This artwork could shatter the enemies control on them with such powerful images of God’s Love !!!

Nov 12, 8:09 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): the pain of every lash He received in the scourging, the pain of every thorn that pierced His head, the stinging pain of the slaps He received, the pain of being mocked and condemned to die, the pain in His shoulder and His feet as He walked from Jerusalem to Calvary

Nov 12, 8:09 PM

Carol Ann: I do from time to time, it is more of an Eastern Church practice though

Nov 12, 8:09 PM

Ruth (Guest): Dawn, I meant, of course about Satan being a Coward. But maybe an unplug and re-start would work better for the computer. The fan failing can cause a major freeze up which isn’t much different from a mother board burn out! Oh, the language we use!

Nov 12, 8:10 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): in reflecting on all of these thing and the crucifixion with its own horrific pain, our comprehension of God’s love for us should increase immeasurable.

Nov 12, 8:10 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Immeasurably.

Nov 12, 8:11 PM

Carol Ann: it fills me with wonder

Nov 12, 8:11 PM

Dawn (Guest): Ruth … funny

Nov 12, 8:11 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Yes Judy and to know that He had the ability to stop all the suffering but He was obediant to His Father and knew it was the only way to save us ! True Love ! We must do the same for others !!!

Nov 12, 8:12 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): And to know that even if we had been the only one on earth, He would have gone through the same suffering for us.

Nov 12, 8:13 PM

Guest3082 (Guest): Amen Judy !!!

Nov 12, 8:14 PM

Dawn (Guest): beautiful reflections! I will prayerfully watch The Passion for this purpose

Nov 12, 8:16 PM

Guest7665 (Guest): Is there a sister here I could speak with?

Nov 12, 8:16 PM

Dawn (Guest): so beautiful….and for todays Gospel ! little children will show us the way

Nov 12, 8:16 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Question 4, the answer to both questions in this question is LOVE. God certainly did not need us. He was sufficient hi His Trinitarian Unity. But His love was so great that He created us to share in the enormous love. And when the first people sinned, He promised a Savior to redeem them. Why? He loved them so. He values us because we are His creatures made in His image and likeness and purchased at the price of His own Son’s blood which increased our value.

Nov 12, 8:18 PM

Ruth (Guest): Yes, Judy. Years ago when I was telling a priest friend about my frustration — not being able to function anywhere near as well as before my fall through a hidden trap door, and multiple injuries, the friend-confessor said, “And four nails through Jesus’s hands and feet must’ve been pretty frustrating, too,” I “got” it and remind myself of this often, and try to “offer up” pains, suffering, frustrations in union with Christ’s redemptive suffering to help make the power of His loving act ever more presen

Nov 12, 8:18 PM

Carol Ann: Sometimes too, we feel so full of love that it explodes out of us

Nov 12, 8:18 PM

Ruth (Guest): t here and now in this broken world.

Nov 12, 8:18 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): As Peter says: “..realizing that you were ransomed from your futile conduct, handed on my your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ as of a spotless unblemished lamb.” 1 Pet. 1:18-19

Nov 12, 8:19 PM

Nov 12, 8:28 PM

Carol Ann: I think we lost our person, and Lisa too. I have been part of this group since about 2012, so I cannot imagine Sundays without it!

Nov 12, 8:28 PM

Guest754Judy (Guest): Let us spend the week ahead contemplating the great love of Jesus for us manifested in His terrible sufferings. Have a blessed week, all.

Nov 12, 8:28 PM

Ruth (Guest): There are some phone numbers on the website; I think calling one of them might get you a response, perhaps not right away, ( I think they have an elderly hard-of-hearing sister at the entrance and telephone switch board, which closes down at 8 PM, but the sisters are very caring. . . just dealing with a fairly rigid schedule and very outdated phone “system.”

Nov 12, 8:35 PM

Dawn (Guest): you as well Carol Ann, Ruth Brian and Lisa if you are able to read this. God bless and thank you Jesus for calling us together with you

Nov 12, 8:39 PM

Ruth (Guest): (Exodus 32)

Nov 12, 8:41 PM

Ruth (Guest): What I wrote before that disappeared: Wow! Carol Ann, THIS WEEK (behold the face of Christ). No one can see the face of God and live.

Nov 12, 8:41 PM

Carol Ann: That’s true, but He can give us glimpses if He chooses and protect us from that part

Nov 12, 8:42 PM

Ruth (Guest): Sorry, Carol Ann; I think I know what you mean. Behold AND BE, for others, the face of Christ.

Nov 12, 8:42 PM

Carol Ann: well, now , that works too!

Nov 12, 8:43 PM

Ruth (Guest): Yes, and from those glimpses we are strengthened for the rest of the journey.

Nov 12, 8:45 PM

Carol Ann: Yes, the glimpses are given by Him, for His reasons, and are not to be sought after as the ultimate end of prayer. but they are treasures to store up and ponder in our hearts

Nov 12, 8:45 PM

Dawn (Guest): edifying thoughts to bid goodnight, in my prayers ~

Nov 12, 8:49 PM

Ruth (Guest): Carol Ann, Thank you for all the little “gifts” of inspiring pictures. The Snoopy one reminds me, that when I was an Extension Lay Volunteer, with others leading retreats for high school seniors, we did a lot with “Peanuts” cartoons.

Nov 12, 8:55 PM

Carol Ann: They are often overtly Christian in theme, even while being playful, ah the good old days when art was art

Nov 12, 8:56 PM

Ruth (Guest): Good night, Carol Ann and Judy. Have a blessed week. “See” you next Sunday, God willing. Oh, I MAY be traveling. My brother, Richard will be turning 84 on Thanksgiving weekend.
