Complacence in God leads towards benevolence towards God. What makes the transition? Wherein lies the difficulty as regards a benevolent love toward God? How can we express it? Do you find your joy in the Lord? It requires concentration on the Lord. – i.e., the benevolent love that leads us to give ourself to Him. How does complacence, or pleasing love, grow into compassion, as the saint mentions? Why is it that to honor God is a very good way to express benevolence towards Him? What have

What have you done to honor the Lord?

Judy (Guest): The best part of the week was attending the closing of a young adult leadership retreat here at the shrine. What a great group of kids and they all thought that the retreat was awesome. Most agreed that the thing that most impressed them was the reconciliation service and the Eucharist Adoration. Bravo!
Mar 11, 7:29 PM

Judy (Guest): Hi Carol Anne. Glad to have you back!

Mar 11, 7:29 PM

VisitationSiste: Wonderful!!!

Mar 11, 7:29 PM

Carol Ann: i forget why i had to miss last week-probably at the shop

Mar 11, 7:30 PM

Jane (Guest): Hi – everyone. That retreat sounds awesome. Good to see the next generation appreciating God and the sacraments

Mar 11, 7:30 PM

Carol Ann: one of the parishes here has 58 in their first Communion retreat!

Mar 11, 7:31 PM

Judy (Guest): This set of chapters was again a little hard to get through, but I persevered and plowed through the questions. They were the toughest so far. Mother do you know how I can shrink the section of the screen where we write our comments? It is too wide and I am having trouble with the writing because it disappears.

Mar 11, 7:32 PM

VisitationSiste: Are you on aregular computer or ipad?

Mar 11, 7:32 PM

Judy (Guest): REgular computer.

Mar 11, 7:32 PM

VisitationSiste: I will have to ask the webmaster because it was made for egular computers- we did not do a mobile version yet

Mar 11, 7:33 PM

VisitationSiste: So it should be ok- but if not- can you do a screen shot for me so I can show him and have him adjust?

Mar 11, 7:33 PM

Judy (Guest): Hoe do I do that?

Mar 11, 7:33 PM

VisitationSiste: I agree these questions and concepts are difficult

Mar 11, 7:34 PM

VisitationSiste: Hit print screen button on your keypad thenpaste onto Word, save it on desktop, then e mail me and attach the Word doc. Unless someone else knows an easier way!

Mar 11, 7:35 PM

VisitationSiste: Anyone else experiencing what Judy is?

Mar 11, 7:36 PM

Carol Ann: yes, the box for typing responses is larger than the chat box and runs underneath the column of links on the right. I am on a laptop

Mar 11, 7:37 PM

VisitationSiste: Wow- do not have that but this is good info to give the webmaster He will figure it out.

Mar 11, 7:38 PM

Jane (Guest): ok – time for class

Mar 11, 7:38 PM

VisitationSiste: Yep!

Mar 11, 7:39 PM

VisitationSiste: I think to understand the first 2 related questions it is good to give an example betwenn humans.

Mar 11, 7:39 PM

Judy (Guest): Well, I will start with the first question. Complacence toward God leads to benevolence toward God when we realize the sovereign god and infinite perfection that is in the Divinity. This moves us to exercise benevolence , an approbation of and perseverance in the complacency we have in Him. m

Mar 11, 7:39 PM

Jane (Guest): Awesome – Judy. Wow!

Mar 11, 7:39 PM

VisitationSiste: At least it helped me a little. If I take pleasure in my friendship with someone (complacency) then I want to do something good for that friend (benevolence)

Mar 11, 7:40 PM

Carol Ann: i had trouble because complacency often has a negative sense of being so used to something we no longer pay attention

Mar 11, 7:41 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes we covered that last week CarolAnne because our definition today is different- for St Francis it was a positive experience of joy

Mar 11, 7:41 PM

Judy (Guest): In other words, we move from complacency to benevolence which leads back to complacence and thence again to benevolence and so on. Complacence to benevolence to compassion to benevolence to complacence to benevolence to compassion.

Mar 11, 7:41 PM

VisitationSiste: Judy you took it to a higher level!!

Mar 11, 7:41 PM

Judy (Guest): How did I do that?

Mar 11, 7:43 PM

VisitationSiste: You thought about it alot, no? and prepared well I imagine

Mar 11, 7:43 PM

VisitationSiste: I used to get confused about these words and concepts so I needed to simplify but I hope still within range of reality

Mar 11, 7:44 PM

Judy (Guest): Yes, I read quite a bit and wrote it all down. I also invoked the Holy Spirit for understanding of what I was reading.

Mar 11, 7:45 PM

Judy (Guest): I also asked the Spirit to give me the ability to communicate what I was answering to the others.

Mar 11, 7:45 PM

VisitationSiste: I think the transition is in the “reaching out” toward God but the difficulty is we can’t make God any better or happier than He already is

Mar 11, 7:46 PM

Judy (Guest): I think that the transition is that realization of the sovereign good and infinite perfection that is in the Divinity.

Mar 11, 7:46 PM

Jane (Guest): True; but it is in our searching and connecting with God that we grow in being more like God in HIs light and love

Mar 11, 7:47 PM

Carol Ann: in the reaching, He changes us

Mar 11, 7:47 PM

Judy (Guest): If we did not have that realization, we would not progress beyond complacence.

Mar 11, 7:48 PM

VisitationSiste: Desire for God grows then?

Mar 11, 7:48 PM

Judy (Guest): I think, Mother, that your mention of the fact that

Mar 11, 7:49 PM

Jane (Guest): Yes – Sister

Mar 11, 7:50 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): Hi Sister Susan , Carol Ann , Judy , and Jane ! God Bless You ! Brian

Mar 11, 7:50 PM

Jane (Guest): Hi Brian.

Mar 11, 7:50 PM

Carol Ann: hi Brian!

Mar 11, 7:51 PM

Judy (Guest): God is neither richer nor greater, mor more content or happy by the benedictions we give Him is really the answer to the second question about the difficulty as regards a benevolent love toward God. God’s happiness , content, greatness and His riches neither are, nor can be any other thing than the Diving infinity fo His goodness. He is wholly sufficient in Himself.

Mar 11, 7:52 PM

Judy (Guest): Divine Infinity.

Mar 11, 7:52 PM

Judy (Guest): HiJane and jBrian!

Mar 11, 7:52 PM

VisitationSiste: Hi Brian! Yes, yet we need to give, so even if God is utter fullness He delights in our gifts I would think

Mar 11, 7:52 PM

Carol Ann: yet, we must turn toward Him in love or we cause Him great grief

Mar 11, 7:54 PM

Judy (Guest): Surely complacence must lead to benevolent love toward G

Mar 11, 7:54 PM

Judy (Guest): od.

Mar 11, 7:55 PM

VisitationSiste: We can give Him our hearts and our love

Mar 11, 7:55 PM

Judy (Guest): The difficulty comes in the fact that we know that no matter how deep our love for God, it does not add anything to His attributes and so we might wonder shy do we give Him our love. The answer is that He desires our love.

Mar 11, 7:56 PM

Jane (Guest): Absolutely; that would bring Him joy

Mar 11, 7:57 PM

Jane (Guest): I dont think we should pause a micro-second from giving God love – no matter how small or how great- He is love

Mar 11, 7:57 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): Just had Kairos Mini-retreat talks were based on Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Wheat and Weeds . Carol Ann the Parable of the Sower shows how we can look away from God when we don’t allow Gods Word to be received into our life . When we hear and receive God’s Word we are facing God and growing with all of Gods People

Mar 11, 7:58 PM

Carol Ann: that’s true Brian. I am used to thinking of it as God is the sower and i am the field

Mar 11, 7:59 PM

Judy (Guest): Do I find my joy in the Lord? When I allow myself to move beyond the more negative aspects of my life and truly focus on the benevolence of the LOrd toward me, I truly do find my joy in the Lord. Sadly, it is too easy to be mired in my own problems rather than to bound over them and rest in the Lord’s benevolent love at all tmes.

Mar 11, 8:00 PM

Carol Ann: i have to remind myself to think bigger than that

Mar 11, 8:01 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): We allow the enemy to steal Gods Word away in effect turning away from God , we can get excited about Gods Word but get offended and turn away from God when persecution or tribulation comes , and we can get caught up in busy life and pursuits that turn us away from God

Mar 11, 8:01 PM

Judy (Guest): Especially at this point in my life when I see myself getting weaker, my legs getting weaker and more wobbly and I feel frightened about what could lie ahead. I do beg your prayers as I seek more medical wisdom on my doncition.

Mar 11, 8:01 PM

Judy (Guest): Condition.

Mar 11, 8:02 PM

Carol Ann: i will pray Judy. Will you also pray for another Judy I know?

Mar 11, 8:02 PM

Judy (Guest): Sure, be happy to do so.

Mar 11, 8:02 PM

VisitationSiste: You have our prayer support Judy, of all the Sisters too

Mar 11, 8:02 PM

Judy (Guest): Thank you, Mother!!!

Mar 11, 8:03 PM

VisitationSiste: Finding joy in the Lord, esp before the Blessed Sacrament, when all of life fades except for LIFE! His Life

Mar 11, 8:03 PM

Carol Ann: yes, in those timeless moments when it’s just us

Mar 11, 8:04 PM

Judy (Guest): Time before the Blessed Sacrament is Heaven on earth. To be alone withHim is so precious and beautiful. I wish I could do it more, but getting there is difficult for me, financially and physically.

Mar 11, 8:05 PM

Carol Ann: would your pastor let you have a home chapel?

Mar 11, 8:05 PM

Jane (Guest): I agree – Adoration- is transformative

Mar 11, 8:05 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): We must focus on the opportunities in the midst of suffering ! Thankfulness to God allows our view to be broad and able to see opportunities God has for ud. When we focus on our disabilities our view becomes very narrow and we miss out on opportunities God has for us

Mar 11, 8:05 PM

Judy (Guest): I don’t think so.

Mar 11, 8:06 PM

Judy (Guest): I do know that my own disabilities make me more sensitive to the disabilities of others and more sympathetic toward then.

Mar 11, 8:07 PM

VisitationSiste: That’s compassion

Mar 11, 8:07 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): My Father-in law despite Alzheimers

Mar 11, 8:08 PM

Judy (Guest): Brian, you are a very wise man!

Mar 11, 8:09 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): You are a very very wise Lady Judy you see things we all miss you are a great encouragement to me !!!

Mar 11, 8:09 PM

Judy (Guest): Thank you Brian.

Mar 11, 8:11 PM

Judy (Guest): Question 4: Complacence leading us to a benevolent love of God in turn leads to compassion for we cannot think of out Savior without recallint His intense and horrific sufferings and we are then led back to a more intense benevolent love.

Mar 11, 8:12 PM

VisitationSiste: Benevolence is close to compassion because it is already a desire to do good to the other.

Mar 11, 8:13 PM

Judy (Guest): And that benevolent love must be accompanied by deep gratitude for all that the Lord has done for us.

Mar 11, 8:14 PM

Carol Ann: when we learn that gratitude, the focus shifts off of ourselves and onto God, and then we can really see other people

Mar 11, 8:14 PM

Judy (Guest): Amen, Carol Ann!!

Mar 11, 8:14 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): My Father in law despite despite Alzheimer’s very limited ability to walk at 88 years old continues to work 5 Days a week at cash register at the gas station he has worked 60 years . He just keeps making adjustments as he has had to over the years . God has given him grace to keep going despite all obstacles . In the 1979s he was hit by drunk driver ast 90 miles on his way to work . He is a living Muracle !!

Mar 11, 8:15 PM

Judy (Guest): What an example to all of us on how to keep on going in spite of great difficulties.

Mar 11, 8:16 PM

Carol Ann: and how “quality of life” as they say is not limited by hardship

Mar 11, 8:16 PM

Jane (Guest): Your father in law is a living example of how God has plans for each of our lives. I am confident his commitment to living life is a message to many who interact this him. God bless him.

Mar 11, 8:17 PM

Judy (Guest): And now to hit the last question before time runs out, on honoring God. Since we can do nothing to increase God

Mar 11, 8:17 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): Thanks Jane he is such an inspiration to all of us just keep

Mar 11, 8:17 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): Trusting God !!!!

Mar 11, 8:18 PM

Jane (Guest): Amen

Mar 11, 8:19 PM

VisitationSiste: Honoring God gives Him Glory! We give glory to God when we unite our wills with His, when we praisse Him, when we do all for Him

Mar 11, 8:21 PM

Judy (Guest): God’s richness, greatness, contentment or happiness, then to praise Him is bthe fat the greatest way in which we can express our benevolent love fHim. What have I done to honor the Lord? I hope that my prayerful recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours, with its Psalms and other prayers of praise, give Him the glory He deserves. Also, holy Mass is itself a singular act of thanksgivingiving and r

Mar 11, 8:21 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): We are unprofitable servants of God . We just have to keep doing what we know He wants us to do big or smalll it’s all important to God and His desire is to save everyone . Every act of Obediance is assisting God in saving others !

Mar 11, 8:21 PM

Judy (Guest): Singular act of thanksgiving and praise and so I give honor to Him in the Mass.

Mar 11, 8:21 PM

Carol Ann: if i turn away from an impatient act, i am giving Him glory

Mar 11, 8:22 PM

Jane (Guest): What do you mean Carol Ann?

Mar 11, 8:22 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): Amen Judy and Carol Ann !

Mar 11, 8:22 PM

Judy (Guest): I hope that I also give honor to Him by the quality of my life which I try to live in union with His will and which I desire to live for Him and Him alone.

Mar 11, 8:23 PM

Jane (Guest): Beautiful Judy

Mar 11, 8:23 PM

Carol Ann: well, when I’m driving say, and the person in front of me is not going as fast as some one else might, or they can’t find their driveway, etc, instead of getting impatient i tell myself that my brother or sister is having a hard time and needs my help. then I ask God to bless them

Mar 11, 8:24 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): Fruit of the Spirit Patience . When we allow the Holy Spirit to stop that fiery dart of impatience that is a victory for God !

Mar 11, 8:24 PM

Jane (Guest): Totally agree with you Carol Anne. Thank you

Mar 11, 8:25 PM

Judy (Guest): You are showing compassion toward that person, Carol Ann.

Mar 11, 8:26 PM

Carol Ann: it can be hard, with all that time pressure. everything is much slower as we are still cleaning up from the disaster and convoys of dump trucks seem to be everywhere

Mar 11, 8:26 PM

Judy (Guest): And remembering that whatever we do for our brothers and sisters, we do for the Lord, you are showing compassion for the Lord, too.

Mar 11, 8:27 PM

VisitationSiste: We honor God by honoring His presence in others

Mar 11, 8:27 PM

Jane (Guest): Excellent point – Mother

Mar 11, 8:28 PM

Judy (Guest): I can see His presence in each and every one of you and I am grateful for your presence in my life. You are a gift from the Lord.

Mar 11, 8:28 PM

Carol Ann: you are to us too!

Mar 11, 8:28 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): Keep Shining Carol Ann in the Darkness you are bringing Hope to others !

Mar 11, 8:28 PM

VisitationSiste: We are grateful to each other- so loyal to sharing!!

Mar 11, 8:29 PM

Judy (Guest): I think that we are grateful to have the opportunity to share our faith with others who are like-minded.

Mar 11, 8:30 PM

Carol Ann: yes, we are each unique, in different ways, and it can be hard to find people who understand what we are trying to do

Mar 11, 8:31 PM

VisitationSiste: We may be from all over the country but our spirits are united in the Lord. Have a blessed 4th week of Lent!

Mar 11, 8:31 PM

Jane (Guest): It is truly a gift from God that has brought us together of these wonderous Sunday exchanges in which we all grow from sharing with like heart souls. I am so grateful. Thank you Mother for leading us.

Mar 11, 8:31 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): You are all such precious servants of our Lord Jesus Christ it has been a great Joy to be apart of such a great group ! Thank You Jesus for bringing us all together !

Mar 11, 8:31 PM

Judy (Guest): And so another chat is coming to an end. Let us all grow in that benevolence and compassion that issue from complacence and pour ourselves out to the Lord.

Mar 11, 8:31 PM

Jane (Guest): Amen

Mar 11, 8:32 PM

Carol Ann: i pray that we each have a blessed week, and that we remain in God no matter what

Mar 11, 8:32 PM

Jane (Guest): Thank you everyone; have a blessed week!

Mar 11, 8:32 PM

Judy (Guest): Have a blessed week, everyone!

Mar 11, 8:32 PM

Judy (Guest): Looks as if we are all on the same page here!

Mar 11, 8:32 PM

Carol Ann: i think we are

Mar 11, 8:32 PM

Guest6278 (Guest): Amen ! Have a Wonderful Week ! Keep Shing for Our Lord Jesus !!! Brian
