What does it mean that we are given life by Christ’s death? Why was it by death? Why didn’t God just “zap” our sins away?
What does it mean to “die with Christ”?
What does it mean to live with Christ?
We often talk about the death of Jesus Christ, but how do we communicate in our modern world that this is not morbid or dark?

Dawn (Guest): Hi Sr Susan! Im glad you are back also

Jun 17, 7:21 PM

VisitationSiste: Hi Dawn!

Jun 17, 7:21 PM

VisitationSiste: 3 weeks away was the longest ever but our big events are over

Jun 17, 7:22 PM

VisitationSiste: How did it go these past weeks?

Jun 17, 7:22 PM

Dawn (Guest): Holy events, Sacred Heart?

Jun 17, 7:23 PM

Dawn (Guest): Well, I think we had some good discussions but not always on topic

Jun 17, 7:23 PM

Dawn (Guest): But worthy to attend

Jun 17, 7:23 PM

VisitationSiste: But it helps to get to know one another so it is ok from time to time don’t you think?

Jun 17, 7:24 PM

Dawn (Guest): I do agree. the Holy Spirit just led us along

Jun 17, 7:25 PM

Dawn (Guest): It seems as tho many are on summer sabbatical, that is wonderful too

Jun 17, 7:26 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes – Brian is not here tonite he said- we could take a break for the summer but I would rather not

Jun 17, 7:26 PM

Dawn (Guest): Ruth had a retreat. no one knows about Judy or Lisa. Carol Ann has been here!

Jun 17, 7:28 PM

VisitationSiste: Hi Jane!

Jun 17, 7:29 PM

Dawn (Guest): Hi Jane, welcome

Jun 17, 7:30 PM

Jane (Guest): Hi Have missed you all. Just was not able to join in the last several weeks.

Jun 17, 7:30 PM

Jane (Guest): God bless you all

Jun 17, 7:30 PM

VisitationSiste: I was out too for 3 Sundays but should be stable now

Jun 17, 7:30 PM

Dawn (Guest): more things going on in summer for sure

Jun 17, 7:32 PM

VisitationSiste: and we are back to the Treatise which is a solid work

Jun 17, 7:32 PM

Dawn (Guest): ah, but it is not summer yet. we have had rain quite windy hail

Jun 17, 7:32 PM

Jane (Guest): h

Jun 17, 7:32 PM

Jane (Guest): This month of the Sacred Heart is so powerful for me.

Jun 17, 7:32 PM

Jane (Guest): Please excuse prior typo

Jun 17, 7:33 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes and we had a powerful novena for 9 days- a Mass every night- that was June 3rd- one of the Sundays I missed here

Jun 17, 7:33 PM

Jane (Guest): Is there a book you could recommend for a devotion to the Sacred Heart?

Jun 17, 7:34 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes one of the originals by Fr Croisset

Jun 17, 7:34 PM

Jane (Guest): I am reading the Sacred Heart of Jesus by St. John Eudes- is is wonderful

Jun 17, 7:34 PM

VisitationSiste: The Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus: How to Practice the Sacred Heart Devotion

Jun 17, 7:35 PM

Jane (Guest): what do you mean – one of the orginals by Fr. Croisset?

Jun 17, 7:35 PM

VisitationSiste: St John Eudes is excellent- yes

Jun 17, 7:35 PM

VisitationSiste: I mean right after St Margaret Mary’s revelations- this book was written by one of her spiritual confidants

Jun 17, 7:35 PM

Jane (Guest): God put that book by St. Eudes before me

Jun 17, 7:36 PM

Jane (Guest): Is there a title to his book

Jun 17, 7:36 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes- see above: The Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus: How to Practice the Sacred Heart Devotion

Jun 17, 7:37 PM

VisitationSiste: I think Tan Books puts it out

Jun 17, 7:37 PM

Jane (Guest): Just found it on Amazon. Thank you sooooo.

Jun 17, 7:38 PM

VisitationSiste: Great!

Jun 17, 7:38 PM

VisitationSiste: Dawn, are you also drawn to this devotion?

Jun 17, 7:39 PM

VisitationSiste: Maybe it is just 3 of us tonight?

Jun 17, 7:39 PM

VisitationSiste: We can start whenever you want

Jun 17, 7:40 PM

Jane (Guest): The power of 3

Jun 17, 7:40 PM

VisitationSiste: What does it mean that we are given life by Christ’s death? Why was it by death? Why didn’t God just “zap” our sins away?

Jun 17, 7:40 PM

Dawn (Guest): I have been busy doing that which Im called to do right now...seems little time to read.

Jun 17, 7:41 PM

VisitationSiste: The Will of God is best, Dawn

Jun 17, 7:41 PM

Dawn (Guest): Thank you

Jun 17, 7:41 PM

Jane (Guest): God’s death brought us the ability, if we love God to live eternal with God the Father through His son via the infusion of the Holy Spirit in our persona while on Earth

Jun 17, 7:42 PM

Jane (Guest): What more can one demonstrate his love but to sacrifce his life for those he loves- Jesus’ life for us

Jun 17, 7:44 PM

Dawn (Guest): sacrificial love, this is living in Christ and he in us

Jun 17, 7:44 PM

Jane (Guest): Zapping away sins would deny us the opportunity to purge our sins via a pure and willing heart full of yearning to rid the wrongs to be a disciple of Christ

Jun 17, 7:44 PM

Jane (Guest): Awesome summary Dawn

Jun 17, 7:45 PM

Dawn (Guest): and dying to our old self happens by grace as does living in him.

Jun 17, 7:45 PM

Dawn (Guest): I think everything is grace!

Jun 17, 7:46 PM

VisitationSiste: So beautiful-and His life-giving death is also a gift He imparts to us to imitate for others, in little ways

Jun 17, 7:46 PM

Jane (Guest): Amen – Mother

Jun 17, 7:46 PM

Dawn (Guest): yes Mother, Amen

Jun 17, 7:48 PM

VisitationSiste: While God does not zap our sins, confession is the closest to that- by total cleansing

Jun 17, 7:48 PM

VisitationSiste: of course with our sorrow and penance

Jun 17, 7:49 PM

VisitationSiste: So we cooperate with that “zap”

Jun 17, 7:49 PM

Jane (Guest): I understood that the only time our sins are cleansed fully is at the Sunday Mass for the Divine Mercy

Jun 17, 7:51 PM

Dawn (Guest): imitating Christ, in John 17, Jesus tells us doing these things SO the world may believe

Jun 17, 7:51 PM

Jane (Guest): Provide you have undertaken all the condition, Mass, praying of the rosary, confession, the Divine Mercy Chaplet and I know I am missing another component

Jun 17, 7:51 PM

VisitationSiste: I did not know that

Jun 17, 7:51 PM

Dawn (Guest): I went ahead....Confession is like a zap but never thought of it in that term

Jun 17, 7:53 PM

Jane (Guest): Pope John Paul put it in place and he died on the even of its effectuation

Jun 17, 7:53 PM

VisitationSiste: I knew the Feast but all the conditions I missed somew

Jun 17, 7:53 PM

Dawn (Guest): I recall something of complete Absolution on Divine Mercy Sunday also

Jun 17, 7:54 PM

VisitationSiste: So in a way, these questions fit in: What does it mean to “die with Christ”?
What does it mean to live with Christ?

Jun 17, 7:54 PM

Dawn (Guest): but not all

Jun 17, 7:55 PM

Jane (Guest): Yes, Complete absolution but the Church is not informing parishioners. So sad, we need people to unite to God

Jun 17, 7:55 PM

Dawn (Guest): do we die with Christ in our Baptism? but also thru purification’s!

Jun 17, 7:56 PM

Jane (Guest): We are cleansed of original sin via baptism so our soul is united to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Jun 17, 7:58 PM

VisitationSiste: I believe we then live with Christ or perhaps Christ lives in us, and more and more, He fills our being

Jun 17, 7:59 PM

Jane (Guest): Totally agree- Mother

Jun 17, 7:59 PM

Dawn (Guest): as we become detached to the world, it for me a process!, the emptiness is filled with Him

Jun 17, 8:01 PM

VisitationSiste: That is why solitude is so special because we begin to “feel” Him filling us

Jun 17, 8:03 PM

Dawn (Guest): Solitude. is it possible to find that even in midst of the world, the busy. perhaps even in those busy moments?

Jun 17, 8:03 PM

VisitationSiste: And when we do not allow Him in every movement of ours, we know it immediately

Jun 17, 8:03 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes I think so I remember one time I left the cloister to go to the post office, a rare thing for me, and I felt more solitude among the crowd there than in the Monastery It was an unusual moment

Jun 17, 8:06 PM

VisitationSiste: Reading Scripture gives us many examples of How Jesus lived but His inner life is not always so detectable without much meditation, or experience

Jun 17, 8:06 PM

Dawn (Guest): I will remember you telling that Mother. that, you in the Cloister, is the light on the hill!

Jun 17, 8:09 PM

Jane (Guest): So true that being out in the world surrounded by so many one feels alone but with God and not the people around us. I have experienced this several times. I think it because we see the lack of God in other and the presence of God becomes even more recognized for those of us who see and love Him

Jun 17, 8:09 PM

VisitationSiste: The Presence of Jesus is the Light!

Jun 17, 8:09 PM

Jane (Guest): The light of the world; the light of life.

Jun 17, 8:09 PM

Dawn (Guest): I think...when we can be very still, he lets us know of his inner life by coming into us

Jun 17, 8:10 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes I agree

Jun 17, 8:11 PM

Dawn (Guest): when we see the light in others, it is Jesus we see!

Jun 17, 8:11 PM

VisitationSiste: When we talk of the death of Christ, we move soon into His Resurrection, because His hhuman death did not persist too long, but His glorified Body was revealed on Easter

Jun 17, 8:13 PM

Dawn (Guest): how monks and nuns help.... is thru their interior life of prayer this shines a light in the world. it is Jesus light, in them

Jun 17, 8:14 PM

Dawn (Guest): Resurrection

Jun 17, 8:14 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes and I saw that light in a married laywoman and that’s what led me to be a nun!

Jun 17, 8:15 PM

Dawn (Guest): ah! I keep thinking I know...and this is a big distraction thinking I know something. I recall you sharing this the lay woman

Jun 17, 8:16 PM

VisitationSiste: She is now a Daughter of St Francis de Sales

Jun 17, 8:16 PM

Dawn (Guest): Praise be to Jesus Christ

Jun 17, 8:18 PM

VisitationSiste: The Daughters are a very spiritual group of women They are international and one of the chapters meets at our Monastery every month

Jun 17, 8:18 PM

Jane (Guest): It is the prayer of the sister in the Liturgy of the Hours that is so special and powerful to us lay person. Thank you

Jun 17, 8:18 PM

Dawn (Guest): it is a lay group, Mother?

Jun 17, 8:19 PM

Jane (Guest): What a special group – beautiful

Jun 17, 8:20 PM

Jane (Guest): Is the group open to the parents of the students at VA?

Jun 17, 8:20 PM

VisitationSiste: Yes a lay group

Jun 17, 8:21 PM

VisitationSiste: It could be- parents would need to go thru the formation program- it is 2 years long

Jun 17, 8:21 PM

Jane (Guest): sounds amazing

Jun 17, 8:21 PM

Dawn (Guest): beautiful

Jun 17, 8:22 PM

Jane (Guest): Need to perpetuate it through the next generation and thereafter

Jun 17, 8:22 PM

VisitationSiste: It was begun in France in the 1800′s by a priest and a laywoman

Jun 17, 8:23 PM

Jane (Guest): Can the students at VA start the 2 year formation in 7th grade so they return after graduation

Jun 17, 8:24 PM

Jane (Guest): Thank you so for the link

Jun 17, 8:25 PM

VisitationSiste: That I do not know Jane but I will ask my friend- I do not know if there is a group for young people

Jun 17, 8:25 PM

Dawn (Guest): Thank you !

Jun 17, 8:26 PM

Jane (Guest): Would be a beatiful program to send them out into the world as a disciple of Christ and for them to fall back on as their lives evolvee

Jun 17, 8:26 PM

VisitationSiste: They also have “isolated” Daughters- if no group nearby they stay in contact thru other means

Jun 17, 8:26 PM

Jane (Guest): sorry for typo

Jun 17, 8:27 PM

VisitationSiste: Unfortunately our students need to live the basics of their Catholic faith- we are working on Sunday Mass going

Jun 17, 8:28 PM

VisitationSiste: The Sisters deeply encourage but the families are not all supportive so keep praying

Jun 17, 8:28 PM

VisitationSiste: It was a good 3 way discussion tonight and I hope to chat next week!

Jun 17, 8:28 PM

VisitationSiste: Have ablessed week!

Jun 17, 8:28 PM

Jane (Guest): The devotion of the Sacred Heart – especially the first Friday of every month Mass service for the reparation is a very special think

Jun 17, 8:28 PM

Jane (Guest): Sorry for typo

Jun 17, 8:29 PM

Jane (Guest): Have a blessed week

Jun 17, 8:29 PM

Dawn (Guest): alot of good sharing. thank you Mother , God BLess and prayers for the sisters. thank you also for your spiritual help!

Jun 17, 8:29 PM

Jun 17, 8:29 PM

Dawn (Guest): Goodnight! God BLess Jyou Jane

Jun 17, 8:30 PM

VisitationSiste: So glad of you were here!
