The relics of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, seer of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, arrived in Mexico and will tour the country for the next two months.
The relics came to the Visitation Monastery of Mexico City. In the Mexican capital she will visit several parishes and religious communities until July 2. Then she will visit other dioceses in the country until September 4.
The relics consist of two bones – a clavicle and a rib of the saint – as well as a piece of uncorrupted brain and a golden rose given by St. John Paul II.
For Mother Ana Teresa Estrada, Superior of the Monastery of the Visitation in Mexico City, the arrival of the relics in the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, especially a few days before the 70th anniversary of the convent – July 2 – produced a huge joy.
In statements to ACI Prensa, the Visitation nun stressed that “it is a great honor to have this wonderful sister who comes to celebrate this anniversary with us.”
The relics are accompanied ” with holy hours and with our prayer,” she said, noting that “we have it here in our choir. From 6 in the morning we are in prayer with her for all our holy order and for Mexico too. ”
The relics were requested precisely by Mother Ana Teresa, with the endorsement of the Archbishop Primate of Mexico, Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes.
For its part, the Archconfraternity of the Honor Guard of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in charge of the logistics of the transfer of the relics, said that Cardinal Aguiar Retes gave his permission to tour the Mexican capital, “and we invite the different parishes of the Archdiocese, if they wanted to receive Saint Margaret. ”
“We are receiving requests every day. The calendar is not yet closed, but during the remainder of June and practically all July, Saint Margaret will make a pilgrimage to the Archdiocese of Mexico, “he said.
“Later they will make a pilgrimage through the dioceses of the republic. Some bishops, some archbishops have been requesting them, “they told ACI Prensa.
Thus, it is already confirmed that the relics of the French saint will visit León, Celaya, Morelia and Aguascalientes, where there are monasteries of the Visitation.
“There are some bishops who, although they do not have monasteries of the Visitation, have been asking for it,” they said, as in Tamaulipas, Guerrero, Morelos. They would be confirmed in Puebla, Chiapas and Veracruz.
Mother Ana Teresa stressed that “we wanted the relics to arrive a little before our anniversary, because in this month especially the Heart of Jesus pours out his graces on the world and our Visitation, to which he asked us to always be faithful to this devotion , spirituality and worship. ”
The religious stressed that they pray a lot and ask for the intercession of Santa Margaret Mary Alacoque “because there is need for peace in Mexico..”.
“God has wanted to come to reign in the world, because He is our Lord, our Creator, our King, who wants to govern our life for good, for earthly happiness and eternal happiness,” she said.
