How can we align our wills with God’s will of good-pleasure. Saint Francis says that God works in our lives with mercy and justice and that they are “one same most singular goodness and divinity. If they are the same, why do we speak of the two as distinct things? What is the distinction between God’s will and the will of good pleasure? Is there a distinction? Saint Francis says that nothing is done without the will of God, except sin. If sin is against God’s will, how does God’s will happen aamidst all the sin we see in the world?
To take that previous question even deeper: Is there something other than God’s absolute will? If so, what would that be?

Nov 18, 7:33 PM

Jane (Guest): St. Michael, Archangel- lead us this evening in prayer

Nov 18, 7:33 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): Hi Sister Susan and Jane ! God Bless You ! Brian

Nov 18, 7:35 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): Hi Judy ! God Bless You ! Brian

Nov 18, 7:36 PM

Judy (Guest): Sorry I am late. I am trying to find out the difference between Parkinson’s Disease and Parkinsonism. I don’t seem to be able to find on the internet. Anyone here know? Hi Everyone. Can you believe that next Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King! Where has this year gone!!!

Nov 18, 7:37 PM

Jane (Guest): God bless you Judy. I never heard of Parkinsonism- sounds like a disability that mimics Parkinson but is not not Parkinson

Nov 18, 7:38 PM

Judy (Guest): I think you are right, Jane. But I am trying to find what the difference is in symptoms.

Nov 18, 7:38 PM

Jane (Guest): My guess is what it responds to via medicine

Nov 18, 7:39 PM

Judy (Guest): Well, here goes Question 1:To align our wills with God’s will of good pleasure we must at and in all situations accomplish His will, and to do that, we must avoid sin.

Nov 18, 7:39 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): People can get some Parkinson’s symptoms from long term use of some medications

Nov 18, 7:40 PM

Jane (Guest): Sooooo beautiful. Thank you so for being with us despite your heartfelt commitment to your devoted retreat. God bless you

Nov 18, 7:40 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): I will not contribute tonite but just be here in case I need to block things

Nov 18, 7:40 PM

Jane (Guest): This is nothing to worry about. God is with us. We not fear. The love of God and His holy angels guide and protect us.

Nov 18, 7:41 PM

Jane (Guest): Ok. Let’s begin

Nov 18, 7:41 PM

Judy (Guest): I started Question 1 six entries ago.

Nov 18, 7:41 PM

Jane (Guest): Question 1- How can we align our wills with God’s will of good-pleasure. Saint Francis says that God works in our lives with mercy and justice and that they are “one same most singular goodness and divinity. If they are the same, why do we speak of the two as distinct things?

Nov 18, 7:42 PM

Jane (Guest): I believe- God’s mercy is justice.

Nov 18, 7:44 PM

Jane (Guest): He is always available loving us despite our errors but it our decision to be good and we must atone for the wrongs done. The complication seems to be when you are not aware that a wrong has been done and that God’s mercy in His love will forgive us when we are willing and ready and capable of recognizing the wrong, asking for foregiveness and commiting to not do such again

Nov 18, 7:44 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): When we are in true relationship with God we naturally do His will . Our focus is on God and what He wants us to do . Love God and Love Others !

Nov 18, 7:44 PM

Judy (Guest): We speak of God’s mercy and justice separately even though both are one same most singular goodness and divinity because His justice is sharp and bitter to us, the punishments of sin(death, affliction, anguish, labor), are also by His sweet mercy steppimng stones to heaven, means to increase grace and ierits to obtain gloru.

Nov 18, 7:45 PM

Jane (Guest): Brian- your words are so profoundly wise. I agree

Nov 18, 7:45 PM

Judy (Guest): Merits to glory.

Nov 18, 7:46 PM

Jane (Guest): What do you mean by merits to obtain glory

Nov 18, 7:46 PM

Jane (Guest): The glory of God’s love?

Nov 18, 7:46 PM

rUTH (Guest): Hi Everyone. Sorry I’m late.

Nov 18, 7:47 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): Hi Ruth ! God Bless You ! Brian

Nov 18, 7:47 PM

Judy (Guest): St. Francis speaks of death, afflictions, anguish, labors as merits to obtain glory. In other words, our bearing these things enable to merit the glory of eternal life.

Nov 18, 7:48 PM

Judy (Guest): Hi Ruth!

Nov 18, 7:48 PM

Jane (Guest): Can someone expound on the “merit of glory”?

Nov 18, 7:49 PM

Judy (Guest): Ruth, I am trying to find out the difference between Parkinson’s Disease and Parkinsonism. I don’t want to take up time from the chat. Can I e-mail you when the chat is over? Please let me know your e-mail address.

Nov 18, 7:52 PM

Jane (Guest): Next question – What is the distinction between God’s will and the will of good pleasure?

Nov 18, 7:52 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): Whatever God presents to us in our lives He will walk us through when we trust God and know that He will carry us through . It helps me to remember what He has already gotten me through . Others are watching us walk through these great difficulties with God and they are learning that they can trust God Too!

Nov 18, 7:53 PM

rUTH (Guest): Sure Judy. Let’s go into private chat afterward and I’ll send my e-mail address that way.

Nov 18, 7:54 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): There is God’ssignified willlike the commandments and then His good pleasure which means He allows things, circumstances to happen

Nov 18, 7:54 PM

Jane (Guest): I think it depends if the will you execute further the will and pleasures of God which is His heavenly guidelines – the 10 commandments and the Beatitudes verses the Earthly pleasures which are not necessarily in alignment with God’s will but are typically based on selfish desires, fulfillment, pride, ego....all of which are not important and in fact, damaging of one’s in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit

Nov 18, 7:55 PM

Judy (Guest): The will of good pleasure is those things which give us pleasure but may not be God’s will for us, but at the same time, are not sinful. For example, pursuing a career in nursing may bring us satisfaction or pleasure but it mightt be God ‘s will that we become a social worker or counselor. They aer both goods and choosing one over the other is not sinful.

Nov 18, 7:55 PM

Jane (Guest): So good pleasures are equivalent to Divine intervention – Mother?

Nov 18, 7:56 PM

Jane (Guest): Thank you Judy- that was a very demonstrative example.

Nov 18, 7:57 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): morelike Divine Providence

Nov 18, 7:58 PM

Jane (Guest): What is the scope of Divine Providence?

Nov 18, 7:58 PM

rUTH (Guest): I found this lesson difficult. Maybe because of the language, some of which was used previously so should make more sense to me now, but I may have forgotten the specific meaning; maybe because in reality it is hard to accept difficulties in life as just punishments.

Nov 18, 7:59 PM

Judy (Guest): I believe that everything is the scope of Divine Providence. God cares about everything in our lives and in His Providence gives all things so that may grow in His love and service.

Nov 18, 7:59 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): I believe that God’s Will is for us to Serve Others no matter what we are doing . We should be together with God assisting Him to remove burdens from others . When we are separated from God and His will we are adding burdens to others and serving ourselves !

Nov 18, 8:00 PM

Jane (Guest): Wow

Nov 18, 8:00 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): So we accept allcircumstances in our lives in the light of His permissive will

Nov 18, 8:01 PM

Jane (Guest): Wow

Nov 18, 8:01 PM

Judy (Guest): Ruth, you are right. This lesson was difficult to read. I had a hard time being able to understand what St. Francis was saying. It took a while and several readings, but I think I finally got it.

Nov 18, 8:02 PM

rUTH (Guest): So Brian, are you saying that it was better for me to be in the senior housing, called DeChantal, than here at home. Because here I am rather isolated, and there, even though I was there to recover from surgery, there were more people around and I became aware of more needs and desires, and was constantly doing things for others.

Nov 18, 8:03 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): Amen Ruth !

Nov 18, 8:03 PM

rUTH (Guest): Judy, you are a spiritual scholar!

Nov 18, 8:03 PM

Jane (Guest): It is always better to be amongst others who love and live Christ than to be in isolation unless, in my opinion, you retreat in isolation as a time to get closer to Christ by eliminating the exterior noise of the world

Nov 18, 8:04 PM

Judy (Guest): I think, Ruth, that while you are recovering from surgery, it is perfectly all right for you to be at home. You can serve the needs of others by praying for them until you are physically able to do so.

Nov 18, 8:04 PM

rUTH (Guest): It was just the other way around, Judy.

Nov 18, 8:05 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): The language of the Treatise is not easy

Nov 18, 8:05 PM

rUTH (Guest): I was at DeChantal because it seemed it would be easier.

Nov 18, 8:05 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): That’swhy we wait untilTemporary Vows tostudy it

Nov 18, 8:05 PM

Jane (Guest): Where did the questions go at the beginning of this conversation? I dont see them any longer.

Nov 18, 8:05 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): They roll away

Nov 18, 8:06 PM

Jane (Guest): ok Thank you

Nov 18, 8:06 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): God Always wants us to live in community ! Soo we can serve others and they can serve us . Our enemy is a predator who would like us to isolate soo he can attack and try to destroy our relationship with God and others !

Nov 18, 8:06 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): see if you see something that says load earlier messages

Nov 18, 8:06 PM

rUTH (Guest): No heavy lifting, others around to help ME if need be. And it was necessary. I had to go to the ER Saturday night and Leo brought me and brought me back later.

Nov 18, 8:06 PM

Jane (Guest): When does one reach temporary vows?

Nov 18, 8:06 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): After postulancy and novitiate

Nov 18, 8:07 PM

Judy (Guest): I always make a copy of the article for the week with its questions so that I can refer to it and answer the questions prior to the chat.

Nov 18, 8:07 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): About 3 years into living in the monastery

Nov 18, 8:07 PM

Jane (Guest): I am ignorant of the different levels of growth in the spiritual life of the vocation

Nov 18, 8:07 PM

Jane (Guest): Sooooo powerful and beautiful

Nov 18, 8:09 PM

Jane (Guest): FYI- there is no means to search/access the earlier questions on this end once they disappear

Nov 18, 8:09 PM

Judy (Guest): Mother, I am trying to think of a book that Jane could read that would explain Religious Life to her, but I cannot think of one off the top of my head. Can you recommend one?

Nov 18, 8:09 PM

rUTH (Guest): Judy I used to do that. But for about a year now I have not had a printer attached to this computer and just got one set up with the other when it (the computer) started “behaving” irratically.

Nov 18, 8:10 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Off the top no but they are out there

Nov 18, 8:10 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Francis says that God works in our lives with mercy and justice and that they are “one same most singular goodness and divinity. If they are the same, why do we speak of the two as distinct things?3.What is the distinction between God’s will and the will of good pleasure? Is there a distinction?4.Saint Francis says that nothing is done without the will of God, except sin. If sin is against God’s will, how does God’s will happen amidst all the sin we see in the world?5.To take that previous question even de

Nov 18, 8:11 PM

rUTH (Guest): Jane, don’t you get sister’s e-mail. That is where I usually read the selection and questions, although she does publish them here, too.

Nov 18, 8:11 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): that is the newsletter’

Nov 18, 8:11 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): questions are there

Nov 18, 8:11 PM

Jane (Guest): It is so powerful to pause and realize that nothing happens without the will of God – except – sin

Nov 18, 8:11 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): The Confessions of Saint Patrick ! He tells his whole story with God in his own words !!!

Nov 18, 8:12 PM

Judy (Guest): Ruth, I wonder if there is someone”out there” who has a voodoo doll with your name on it.( Not seriously.) It seems that so many negative things are happening to you.

Nov 18, 8:13 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): here is one not basic tho I do not think

Nov 18, 8:13 PM

Judy (Guest): Actually, the Lord must love you very much because it is said that He gives the most suffering to those He loves most.

Nov 18, 8:15 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): I think God is using you Ruth to point others to Christ in Soo many powerful ways !!! Every difficulty has brought you into the presence of someone who does not know God yet !!! Keep Shining for Jesus Ruth !!!

Nov 18, 8:16 PM

Judy (Guest): Hitting Question 4: God’s will happens amidst all the sin we see in the world because there are people who choose to live in accord with God’s will even as there are those who will live in opposition to His will. It is free will that makes this possible.

Nov 18, 8:16 PM

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): I AM GOING NOW bACK TO RETREAT THANKS AND BLESSINGS

Nov 18, 8:16 PM

Judy (Guest): REst in the peace of Jesus, Mother.

Nov 18, 8:17 PM

rUTH (Guest): Thank you, Sister.

Nov 18, 8:17 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): God Bless You Sister Susan please keep Kairos Sisters who just finished retreat this afternoon in Prayer !!!

rUTH (Guest): We will pray for you, too.

Nov 18, 8:18 PM

Jane (Guest): God bless you

Nov 18, 8:19 PM

Judy (Guest): Last of all, Question 5: Yes, there is something other than God’s absolute will. It is called His permissive will. In permissive will, He allows certain things to happen that are perhaps unpleasant or even tragic, but from these vents come great graces and blessings.

Nov 18, 8:20 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): God likes to show us and others very clearly what life is like together with Him and what life is like with out Him . Then He gives us a choice ! Our enemy tries to put us in some prison where he hopes we will never choose God .

Nov 18, 8:21 PM

Judy (Guest): War, for example, is a terrible thing. It causes tremendous loss of life and destruction of property. But it may, in the long run, free people from the tyrrany of a brutal dictator who has ruled the nation for a number of years.

Nov 18, 8:23 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): North and South Korea ! West Germany and East Germany !

Nov 18, 8:24 PM

Judy (Guest): North Korea is still ruled by an authoritarian leader. It is not a truly free country yet.

Nov 18, 8:25 PM

rUTH (Guest): It may, too, produce martyrs. As in Syria now, for example.

Nov 18, 8:26 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): It is amazing how the Men and Women of God have persevered Through soo much persecution to Bring us Gods Love in Soo many incredible Ways !!!!

Nov 18, 8:26 PM

Judy (Guest): God will prevail!!

Nov 18, 8:27 PM

Jane (Guest): This is such a profoundly beautiful circle of God’s love that is shared each Sunday. God bless you all.

Nov 18, 8:27 PM

rUTH (Guest): Today I saw a beautiful statue in Assumption Church: Mary the Mother of God holding the small child Jesus.

Nov 18, 8:27 PM

Jane (Guest): Yes- God is good – all the time; and all the time – God is good and so God prevails

Nov 18, 8:28 PM

Jane (Guest): Love is beautiful; it is the absence of fear. Love is God and God is love

Nov 18, 8:28 PM

Judy (Guest): May Mary, our Mother, hold each of us, her children,in her loving arms and keep us safe under her mantle.

Nov 18, 8:29 PM

Jane (Guest): I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving.

Nov 18, 8:29 PM

Jane (Guest): Thank you Judy. Amen

Nov 18, 8:29 PM

rUTH (Guest): I think it was a copy of a Remenschneider. And the organist told me it was “Bavarian. It had been in the home of the former leader of song, who died of breast cancer. The husband, I thought, was good to her, but the organist said she was persecuted for her Catholic Faith.

Nov 18, 8:29 PM

Judy (Guest): Yes, Happy and Grateful Thanksgiving to all of you!

Nov 18, 8:29 PM

Dawn (Guest): dropping by at last minute to say hello, read some what I can see. God bless you all. in my prayers, and a Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Nov 18, 8:30 PM

Nov 18, 8:30 PM

Judy (Guest): And to you too, Dawn!

Nov 18, 8:30 PM

Jane (Guest): Good night and God bless.

Nov 18, 8:31 PM

rUTH (Guest): And Riemenschneider as a consequence of his taking sides in the farmer’s uprising was imprisoned and had his hands cut off. A gifted sculptor of beautiful altar pieces!

Nov 18, 8:35 PM

rUTH (Guest): Today after Assumption, though over-tired, I went to St. B’s for Mass and to teach k=1. The happiest thing I heard today (besides the Word of God) came out of the mouth of a 1st grader: Asked,What are YOU thankful for? one child talked about his i-pad, his big brother . . . another replied simply,God!

Nov 18, 8:36 PM

Guest7476 (Guest): Ruth I will never forget the Holocost Museum and the display of all the shoes of those who went to horrific death . Also hearing the survivors stories and the amazing lives they were able to live with God after losing their entire families !
