Saint Francis connects this to the
reflection that we read for last week. Where do you see the connection between
these two?
In everyday life, what does this look like between
being held by God and walking hand-in-hand along side him?
What can Jesus’ surrender to Mary teach us about
surrendering to God’s will?
What’s the difference between the care of willing and
choosing the effects of God’s good pleasure versus praising and thanking the
good pleasure for such effects?

May 18, 10:11 AM
VisitationSiste: Moderator Sr Susan is traveling- may be late for chat!
May 19, 7:30 PM
Ruth (Guest): BRB
May 19, 7:30 PM
Dawn (Guest): Hello everyone !
May 19, 7:35 PM
Lisa C: Hi
May 19, 7:36 PM
Dawn (Guest): Hi Lisa
May 19, 7:37 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Hi Dawn , Lisa , Ruth , and Alice ! God Bless You ! Brian
May 19, 7:39 PM
Alice (Guest): Hello everyone.
May 19, 7:39 PM
Dawn (Guest): hi Brian! Alice Ruth and again Lisa
May 19, 7:39 PM
Lisa C: Hello everyone
May 19, 7:42 PM
Dawn (Guest): are we waiting for Sr Susan, oh and Ruth
May 19, 7:43 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Sometimes we go through such Great Trauma that I feel at these times we are being held by God . Other times we are walking hand in hand and He is teaching us and guiding us to do His Will !
May 19, 7:45 PM
Dawn (Guest): thank you Brian. this fits with the days we are in
May 19, 7:46 PM
Lisa C: I think God’s will will be done no matter what so it is easier to be carried than to try to fight against it. However, sometimes it feels like when something difficult might be about to happen it is ok to say, “Ok, if that’s what you want, but I hope it is not what you want.” Kind of like Jesus in the Garden asking if the cup could pass if it would be His will, but agreeing if it has to be done.
May 19, 7:48 PM
Ruth (Guest): Hi everyone. I’m back. With my eyeglasses. And have reviewed what you’ve just written.
May 19, 7:49 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): God seems to be reaching out to everyone with great urgency through the great trials that Soo many are going through . We could be on the verge of many coming to Christ !!!
May 19, 7:50 PM
Lisa C: So many Martyrs needed to help atone for what is going on
May 19, 7:50 PM
Ruth (Guest): Brian, it sure doesn’t feel like it considering the state of “politics” and the “culture.”
May 19, 7:51 PM
Lisa C: The Church is undergoing great trials now
May 19, 7:52 PM
Ruth (Guest): Yes, Lisa, as gruesome as that is, the Hope for the Church probably lies squarely with the witness of the present-day martyrs.
May 19, 7:53 PM
Ruth (Guest): Yes, indeed. There may even be a major restructuring in the future, or shall I say, less structure, more Holy Spirit.
May 19, 7:53 PM
Lisa C: No matter what is happening the Immaculate Heart will win in the end along with Jesus
May 19, 7:53 PM
Ruth (Guest): On this we agree, Lisa.
May 19, 7:53 PM
Lisa C: Ruth, I am not sure at all that is the HS. The lack of structure is more of the work of the devil.
May 19, 7:54 PM
Ruth (Guest): HS?
May 19, 7:54 PM
Lisa C: Holy Spirit
May 19, 7:54 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): People need to see their real need for Jesus !!! The rottenness of this world has people looking for truth ! Great opportunity for us too Shine through Jesus to others !! To point them to God !!! Let them make a choice !!!
May 19, 7:55 PM
Ruth (Guest): Maybe. Maybe not. There was not a lot of structure in Jesus’ day, or in the time of the early Martyrs.
May 19, 7:56 PM
Lisa C: Then the Church was small and most were led by Jesus or the Apostles. Now we need structure to hand down the truth as it was originally proclaimed.
May 19, 7:57 PM
Lisa C: Mercy without repentance is like faith without works….meaningless and dead.
May 19, 7:57 PM
Ruth (Guest): But without it, there is danger or each going off in his own direction, believing what his own interpretation of Scripture and Tradition says — kind of like in many of the Protestant denominations. Mistakes, sometimes bad mistakes can creep in.
May 19, 7:59 PM
Ruth (Guest): But even Bishop Barron points out that the structures as we know them are not essential to be the Catholic Church.
May 19, 7:59 PM
Lisa C: What structures?
May 19, 8:00 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): A Strong Christian Community with everyone doing their part , using their gifts in relatioship with God . A unity that cannot be broken with the Holy Spirit guiding our way !!!
May 19, 8:00 PM
Ruth (Guest): And we’ve seen what clericalism can and has done — gross harm, putting power ahead of Truth and even Justice in some instances.
May 19, 8:01 PM
Lisa C: Many faithful Bishops and Cardinals have said that clericalism is not the problem.
May 19, 8:01 PM
Dawn (Guest): Yes Brian! and you are in a place to see the fruits of this. perhaps more so than in other places, do you think?
May 19, 8:01 PM
Ruth (Guest): SIN is the real problem.
May 19, 8:02 PM
Lisa C: Ruth, yes, but specific sins have caused the crisis
May 19, 8:02 PM
Lisa C: We are off topic
May 19, 8:02 PM
Ruth (Guest): But also SIN covered up through the powers that be.
May 19, 8:02 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Soo much attacks our unity with God and the Church . These obstacles must be removed . Jesus wants us to be One !!!! John Chapt 17 !!!
May 19, 8:03 PM
Ruth (Guest): Are we?
May 19, 8:03 PM
Ruth (Guest): I like the book John 17. It shows how in little ways unity amidst diversity is possible and being worked at.
May 19, 8:04 PM
Dawn (Guest): 2) In everyday life, what does this look like between being held by God and walking hand-in-hand along side him?
May 19, 8:04 PM
Lisa C: It’s a delicate balance between just letting go and knowing when to act
May 19, 8:04 PM
Ruth (Guest): I do not often feel carried, much more a co-worker with the Lord, hand in hand sometimes, but mostly just plugging along, trying to walk in peace and justice.
May 19, 8:05 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): I have seen the demonstration of God’s Unlimited Power , Authority , and Love in the Kairos Prison Ministry Dawn !!!!
May 19, 8:06 PM
VisitationSiste: I am back at the monastery How is chat going?
May 19, 8:06 PM
Ruth (Guest): Evangelization helps to evangelize the evangelizer.
May 19, 8:06 PM
Dawn (Guest): Amen!
May 19, 8:06 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Amen !!!
May 19, 8:06 PM
Dawn (Guest): Hi Sr Susan, happy you are here
May 19, 8:07 PM
Ruth (Guest): Welcome back, Sister Susan Marie.
May 19, 8:07 PM
Ruth (Guest): I think we are doing OK.
May 19, 8:07 PM
Lisa C: Hello Mother Susan
May 19, 8:08 PM
VisitationSiste: Hi Great! Keep on going while I try to catch up
May 19, 8:08 PM
Dawn (Guest): I hope to see this in the parish Brian, praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit!
May 19, 8:08 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Soo exciting to see Paul and Barnabas reporting the growth of the Church . Would not have been possible without the Faithful Prayer Support at the Home Church !!!
May 19, 8:10 PM
Dawn (Guest): perhaps this would be a good Scripture to meditate on, to pray over!!
May 19, 8:10 PM
Ruth (Guest): I like the image of Mary holding Jesus, feeding him at her breast.
May 19, 8:12 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Keep Praying Dawn and get as many as you can to Pray . Invite other Communities to Pray for your Parish !!! We are in a War for Souls we must be available to God as a Community !!! Then we will see God move Mountains !!!!
May 19, 8:13 PM
VisitationSiste: are we on question 2 or 3
May 19, 8:13 PM
Lisa C: St. Gertrude the Great and St. Faustina say God will save souls if we ask. Somehow He will get through to their free wills.
May 19, 8:14 PM
Alice (Guest): I think we were on question 2 Sister
May 19, 8:15 PM
VisitationSiste: thank you
May 19, 8:15 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Our enemy has taken a great chance by bombarding the media with his filth !!! We see the Church beginning to advance the Unity that Jesus has asked of us with the use of the media to bring Christian Communities together around the World !!!
May 19, 8:15 PM
Dawn (Guest): last posted was Q2. What it looks like to see someone surrendered to God. they are not conformed to this world!
May 19, 8:16 PM
Lisa C: The assault against the unborn/preborn has gone beyond belief and that seems to have shocked complacent people into action.
May 19, 8:18 PM
Dawn (Guest): maybe this is why Pope Francis admits he does not listen to news….as he walks to bring unity
May 19, 8:18 PM
Lisa C: :/
May 19, 8:18 PM
Ruth (Guest): I think so, Lisa. It does seem that more and more people are coming to realize that a human embryo and a fetus are first of all HUMAN — persons worthy of protection. I am encouraged by the TEENS for LIFE movement.
May 19, 8:19 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Wow when you meet someone surrendered too God it is soo obvious , Soo uplifting , soo encouraging , and such a contrast to others !!! You see Jesus Christ !!!
May 19, 8:19 PM
Lisa C: :-/
May 19, 8:20 PM
Dawn (Guest): :/ better
May 19, 8:21 PM
VisitationSiste: where is the teens for life located- is it countrywide
May 19, 8:21 PM
Dawn (Guest): Someone full of Grace…could be a homeless person, could be anyone
May 19, 8:21 PM
Ruth (Guest): Yesterday I volunteered to be at Adoration while a TEENS for LIFE meeting was going on in the main church. After Mass I was able to meet an number of them. Some, who’d been to DC for the Right to Life demonstration were wearing T-shirts that said We Are the Pro-Life Generation.
May 19, 8:22 PM
Dawn (Guest): a small child
May 19, 8:22 PM
Dawn (Guest): wonderful Ruth!
May 19, 8:22 PM
Lisa C: Yesterday Cardinal Burke led a march for live in Rome
May 19, 8:22 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): If you ever get an opportunity to attend March for Life in Washington do it !!! You really see the Unity of the Church !!!! Very encouraging to the Young Leaders for Christ !!!
May 19, 8:23 PM
Lisa C: States are putting out all out bans on abortion now in response to NY
May 19, 8:23 PM
Lisa C: We will have to be very careful which case tries to go to the Supreme Court
May 19, 8:23 PM
Ruth (Guest): Yes, Sister it is nation-wide. I have a guide on forming groups in high schools and another for college students. It helps them both to understand the issues and to feel less alone with their Catholic (AND Natural Law!) beliefs.
May 19, 8:24 PM
Dawn (Guest): this is example of how God brings good out of evil
May 19, 8:24 PM
Ruth (Guest): Good observation, Dawn.
May 19, 8:24 PM
Lisa C: I wish Fr. Pavone could arrange for lawyers to study this and get just the right cases
May 19, 8:25 PM
Ruth (Guest): It is horrible that NY is allowing, even celebrating 3rd trimester — even full term abortion.
May 19, 8:25 PM
Dawn (Guest): I assumed Alabama would be the state, maybe not
May 19, 8:25 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): I will never forget attending Eucharistic Adoration with thousands of Youth at George Mason University the night before March for Life !!!
May 19, 8:26 PM
Dawn (Guest): Ah!!
May 19, 8:26 PM
Lisa C: The worst is the Cardinal Dolan has not excommunicated the Governer
May 19, 8:26 PM
Ruth (Guest): But it is soooo horrible that some people are reacting, realizing how uncivilized infanticide ( That’s what it is!) is.
May 19, 8:26 PM
Lisa C: The Bishop in Albany has banned him from Communion
May 19, 8:26 PM
Lisa C: Not that he was going
May 19, 8:27 PM
Lisa C: He claims to be Catholic, like Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and all the prochoice hippocrits
May 19, 8:27 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Pray for our Leaders !!!
May 19, 8:28 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): The enemy wants us to hate them soo that we disobey God !!!
May 19, 8:28 PM
Dawn (Guest): I’ve attended one March for Life, on West Coast. I have the sign you mentioned Ruth, we are the prolife generation
May 19, 8:28 PM
Lisa C: I wish Jesus would come down and throw some tables
May 19, 8:28 PM
Ruth (Guest): Gov. Cromo, in effect, ex-communicated himself!
May 19, 8:28 PM
Dawn (Guest): We are commanded to pray for those who persecute us
May 19, 8:28 PM
Lisa C: Yes, Ruth, but the Cardinal should say something
May 19, 8:30 PM
Ruth (Guest): I think so too. That is where “clericalism” — sort of Catholic Church political “correctness” gets in the way of the Gospel being shared with the world.
May 19, 8:30 PM
Dawn (Guest): Amen Ruth!
May 19, 8:31 PM
Dawn (Guest): know satan is using all these highly charged emotional issues to divide us. like Peter we will sink if we do not keep our eyes on Jesus!
May 19, 8:32 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): When we really Love Oneanother and really Love our Enemies the Walls around everyone fall down and everyone sees God !!!!
May 19, 8:33 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Amen Dawn !!!
May 19, 8:33 PM
Ruth (Guest): That goes for the Pope, too, though. Excuse me if this seems irreverent, but if he was really unaware of the abuse — so much of it — Ireland, the US — it is frighteningly excessive ignorance; if he knew about some of it — for which there is considerable evidence — than in his sense of “Mercy” for the perpetrators, he failed at justice, truth, and mercy for the victims. How is it possible that grown men need to have a big “conference” to “learn” what the problem is?
May 19, 8:34 PM
Lisa C: Ruth, to look like they are addressing the issue
May 19, 8:34 PM
Lisa C: Not sure they are
May 19, 8:34 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Awesome Kairos Weekend at Albion Correctional for Ladies !!!! Keep all the Girls in Your Prayers !!!!!
May 19, 8:35 PM
Ruth (Guest): Important point Dawn. And we have his Dear Mother to put the serpent under her heal — if we appeal to her unfailingly.
May 19, 8:35 PM
Lisa C: Amen
May 19, 8:36 PM
Dawn (Guest): Will pray for them Brian! thank you for sharing much! God bless you and all the Girls
May 19, 8:38 PM
Ruth (Guest): Lisa, “LOOK LIKE” instead of DOING what is necessary? That’s the part of clericalism that I have a problem with, a big problem. On the other hand, I have know some really, really good priests — in persona Christi — made visible.
May 19, 8:38 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): God is beginning the process of addressing abuse ! He is beginning in the Church First !!!! Great opportunity to allow God to Help and Heal our Greatest Hurts !!!
May 19, 8:39 PM
Dawn (Guest): thank you Sr Susan for offering this chat.I am thankful as it helps me to do the job I do the rest of the week, which is be with little people. God bless you Sr
May 19, 8:41 PM
Dawn (Guest): a place to be spiritually nourished, like a well.
May 19, 8:41 PM
Dawn (Guest): it is snowing
May 19, 8:42 PM
Guest2714 (Guest): Thanks Dawn and thank you all for your prayers for soo many !!!! God Bless You All !!!! You are All Soo Special !!! Keep Shining for Jesus !!!!
May 19, 8:43 PM
Dawn (Guest): Thank you Brian. God bless you~
May 19, 8:44 PM
Dawn (Guest): Lisa, thank you for pointing to Scripture when Jesus was praying ….very helpful!! God bless you
May 19, 8:44 PM
Ruth (Guest): Brian, I really admire what you do through Kiros, and your Faith, but your remark at 8:38 seems to me simplistic — pardon me. Even the “baby killers” when aware of sexual abuse of children have been DOING something about it for a long, long, time. Long before the Church even acknowledged that there was abused children.
May 19, 8:46 PM
Ruth (Guest): Child abusers in jail for that crime are often ostracized or become victims of other prisoners . . .
May 19, 8:46 PM
Dawn (Guest): Thank you Ruth for all you share!
May 19, 8:46 PM
Ruth (Guest): But “we” the Church have way too long hidden the crime.
May 19, 8:47 PM
Dawn (Guest): Ruth, it seems everyone has said goodnight. As for what was, it seems God is working in the midst of it now
May 19, 8:49 PM
Ruth (Guest): Even after 2002 and all the efforts then to protect the innocent, the abuse went on, and on in “higher places” in the hierarchy. It is this aspect of “the structure” that we need to pray out of existence, and use whatever legitimate means there are to change.
May 19, 8:49 PM
Dawn (Guest): Perhaps this could be looked as as the turning of the tables Lisa spoke of! Jesus has come down upon his temples and is turning the tables over in rightous anger!
May 19, 8:50 PM
Dawn (Guest): only God
May 19, 8:54 PM
Ruth (Guest): Thanks Dawn. Yes, I do get “carried away.” God IS at work. So is his Mother. But until the hierarchy is either cooperating with them or replaced by some other form of “structure” the face of the Church Jesus Christ founded will look very different than it does now. Jesus will not abandon His Church. And Christ IS victor — not only will be.
May 19, 8:56 PM
Dawn (Guest): Amen! now I am going to read this Scripture when Jesus turned over the table of the money changers and those selling doves. of course there has been exchange of money in all of this! how else to keep people quiet…But God….loves Justice. and His Will be done!
May 19, 8:58 PM
Dawn (Guest): In Jesus and Mary
May 19, 8:58 PM
Ruth (Guest): Oremus pro invicem. Let us pray for one another. [BTW a clerical salutation and closing. If only! . . .]
May 19, 8:59 PM
Dawn (Guest): Amen.
May 19, 9:00 PM
Dawn (Guest): Latin is beautiful
May 19, 9:01 PM
Dawn (Guest): will follow up with email. wondering about Munich
May 19, 9:39 PM
Karen Parker: hi
May 19, 9:40 PM
Karen Parker: I think I got the time wrong… y’all were here earlier, weren’t you?
May 19, 9:47 PM
Karen Parker: Hopefully I’ll remember about this earlier next Sunday. Have a blessed week, if anyone reads this…
