Why does charity nourish all other virtues? Charity has the “quality of perfecting the perfections which it meets with, it more greatly perfects where it finds greater perfection.” Discuss what St. Francis means by this. St. Francis says that small acts filled with love have more value than great acts done with less love. How do we see this in St. Terese of Lisieux’s life and spirituality? How do we measure the love with which we act? Saints who are canonized in the Church tend to be those w

VisitationSiste: who
have carried out great public ministries. How many “lesser” saints do
you think there are? What can these “lesser,” unknown saints teach us
about sanctity?
How can we increase our love and fervor?

Blanca Villa: Yes I did.
Sep 8, 7:30 PM
VisitationSiste: Hi Dawn Are you feeling better?
Sep 8, 7:30 PM
Dawn (Guest): yes, thank you for asking
Sep 8, 7:31 PM
VisitationSiste: Are tonight’s questions understandable?
Sep 8, 7:31 PM
VisitationSiste: The Treatise gets intense!
Sep 8, 7:33 PM
VisitationSiste: Hi Kristi
Sep 8, 7:33 PM
VisitationSiste: I guess we can begin!
Sep 8, 7:33 PM
Dawn (Guest): The questions themselves are understandable, but require more deep thought as he is asking us to go
Sep 8, 7:33 PM
Kristi (Guest): Hi Sister, and Everyone!
Sep 8, 7:33 PM
Dawn (Guest): Hi Kristi!
Sep 8, 7:34 PM
VisitationSiste: Yes I agree Dawn and remember the definitions of words he uses sometimes have broader meanings, for ex charity.
Sep 8, 7:34 PM
Kristi (Guest): Hi Dawn!
Sep 8, 7:34 PM
VisitationSiste: It is not just doing good works, but stands for LOVE itself- the spiritual love of others and God, and God’s own love
Sep 8, 7:35 PM
VisitationSiste: So with that, Why does charity nourish all other virtues?
Sep 8, 7:36 PM
VisitationSiste: virtues being such as humility, gentleness patience etc
Sep 8, 7:37 PM
VisitationSiste: Those are key to a Visitation Sister but there are many other virtues
Sep 8, 7:38 PM
Kristi (Guest): It feeds the other virtues.
Sep 8, 7:38 PM
VisitationSiste: Feeds- good point, yes!
Sep 8, 7:38 PM
Dawn (Guest): Love would nourish all virtues, and all things, as God is love
Sep 8, 7:39 PM
VisitationSiste: Yes what good would a virtue be without love?
Sep 8, 7:40 PM
VisitationSiste: Do we agree with St Francis that: St. Francis says that small acts filled with love have more value than great acts done with less love.
Sep 8, 7:40 PM
VisitationSiste: Hi Brian!
Sep 8, 7:40 PM
Dawn (Guest): I do agree
Sep 8, 7:40 PM
Kristi (Guest): I agree!
Sep 8, 7:41 PM
Dawn (Guest): Hi Brian!
Sep 8, 7:42 PM
VisitationSiste: Of course we don’t really ever know how much love someone else puts into an act but perhaps we can gauge somewhat our own contribution
Sep 8, 7:42 PM
VisitationSiste: and yet- an inner instinct does help us feel an outpouring of someone’s love
Sep 8, 7:43 PM
Dawn (Guest): beautifully said Sr Susan
Sep 8, 7:43 PM
Blanca Villa: I agree. It reminds me of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, who said you don’t have to feed the whole world at once, only one person at a time.
Sep 8, 7:43 PM
Brian (Guest): Hi Sister Susan , Dawn , Kristi , and Blanca !!! God Bless You !!!
Sep 8, 7:43 PM
Kristi (Guest): God Bless you, Brian.
Sep 8, 7:44 PM
Blanca Villa: Hello Brian!
Sep 8, 7:44 PM
VisitationSiste: St Teresa and St Therese had somwhat of the same understanding ?
Sep 8, 7:45 PM
Blanca Villa: I agree!
Sep 8, 7:45 PM
Dawn (Guest): about love?
Sep 8, 7:46 PM
VisitationSiste: about the little things done with love
Sep 8, 7:47 PM
Dawn (Guest): oh yes. I was thinking St Teresa of Avila…umm
Sep 8, 7:47 PM
Blanca Villa: Yes Sister.
Sep 8, 7:49 PM
VisitationSiste: Hi Carroll
Sep 8, 7:50 PM
Dawn (Guest): One thing I consider is St Teresa Calcultta does show us that love is not purely a feeling, rather it is works or action. and the feeling is not necessary. this was important for me to see so I was so often not led astray in this way. but there are other ways!
Sep 8, 7:50 PM
Carroll (Guest): Hi everybody
Sep 8, 7:51 PM

3 q’s: How many “lesser” saints do you think there are? What can
these “lesser,” unknown saints teach us about sanctity?
How can we increase our love and fervor?
Sep 8, 8:04 PM
Ruth (Guest): You write “saints” with a small “s” Does this mean saits who are not canonized?
Sep 8, 8:07 PM
Brian (Guest): Soo many many lesser Saints I think of my Aunt Jane who suffered soo much in her life but always had a smile and a hug from Jesus too everyone !!! At her funeral a veil way above the alter in the ceiling fell to the alter . Seemed like a special recognition God sent to confirm her great Love for Him Through a Life of Great Suffering !!!
Sep 8, 8:07 PM
VisitationSiste: yes
Sep 8, 8:07 PM
Dawn (Guest): I can not find a number of less known Saints, I do think it would make an interesting study
Sep 8, 8:07 PM
VisitationSiste: not canonized as well as those more unknown
Sep 8, 8:08 PM
VisitationSiste: Interesting Brian!
Sep 8, 8:08 PM
Dawn (Guest): That sounds like Signal Grace, Brian!
Sep 8, 8:09 PM
Ruth (Guest): saints — like the good practicing Catholics, and maybe even other people of faith with whom we’ve been privileged to associate here on earth, or we’ve read their letters r biographies?
Sep 8, 8:09 PM
VisitationSiste: I think so, yes
Sep 8, 8:11 PM
VisitationSiste: When I read Magnificat magazine there are always a few saints I had never heard of. Not that I know all the saints in Butler’s Lives of course!
Sep 8, 8:13 PM
Carroll (Guest): …saints like the people who quietly and resolutely role model true devotion and charity for the love of God and do things to enkindle faith in others… but, day after day, year after year, never drawing any attention to themselves…
Sep 8, 8:13 PM
VisitationSiste: Sanctity is our goal and each of us is to become those saints!
Sep 8, 8:13 PM
Brian (Guest): I should read in more depth the lives of the Saints . I Love the Confessions of St Patrick and the Prison Diary of Saint Perpetua
Sep 8, 8:14 PM
Ruth (Guest): Just today I was thinking what a help it was to me that my seventh grade math teacher shared his Faith with me by sending four important books for me to read to my new school (eighth grade), and that we had a correspondence for several years until he died. And he told me that I had to meet one of his friends, a librarian in my new school, who also got me to read an important book.
Sep 8, 8:14 PM
VisitationSiste: loving outreach to you
Sep 8, 8:14 PM
Carroll (Guest): That is beautiful Ruth
Sep 8, 8:15 PM
VisitationSiste: I think heaven is filled with these lesser saints which incluude family members and friend
Sep 8, 8:15 PM
Dawn (Guest): Such a hopeful thought!
Sep 8, 8:16 PM
Brian (Guest): Inspirational Teacher Ruth !!!! Just like you have been an Inspirational Teacher too Us and Soo many others throughout your lifetime !!!
Sep 8, 8:17 PM
Dawn (Guest): Did you file your letters Ruth? I only ask as I have been looking at images of letters seems a lovely thing to do
Sep 8, 8:17 PM
VisitationSiste: I think they teach us sanctity is possible and it is what the Lord wants for all of us
Sep 8, 8:17 PM
Ruth (Guest): I was remembering that I would often just have a silent imaginary conversation with this former teacher of mine and often thereby gain insight into questions and solutions to various problems or concerns.
Sep 8, 8:19 PM
Dawn (Guest): A blessing Ruth, as Brian says then you are able to pass this on to us, to others!
Sep 8, 8:19 PM
Carroll (Guest): Ways to increase our love and fervor: spending time with Jesus in Adoration, focusing on gratitude for all of His grace, and saying ” yes”
Sep 8, 8:20 PM
Ruth (Guest): I’m sure I did not throw out the letters but I haven’t any idea where I would start looking for the m. I’ve moved ab out forty times since then.
Sep 8, 8:20 PM
Carroll (Guest): ” yes” to Him every moment of every day
Sep 8, 8:22 PM
VisitationSiste: If only more people followed your suggestions, Carroll!
Sep 8, 8:23 PM
Carroll (Guest): …If only I followed my suggestions! … God knows our hearts and efforts, though!
Sep 8, 8:23 PM
Brian (Guest): I think that when we are able to spend time listening to others it seems to be a powerful tool the Lord Jesus uses to help others . You can actual see God working to help another as you are focused on truly listening too them !
Sep 8, 8:23 PM
Ruth (Guest): Carroll, you have the right idea. That is so important. But to live it out, practically in every situation — that’s not so easy; often not entirely clear what that entails. We are to be co-creators with Him, not just passive “yes” sayers.
Sep 8, 8:24 PM
Carroll (Guest): Good point, Ruth.
Sep 8, 8:24 PM
Blanca Villa: The number is unknown to me. They teach us that we are all called to be saints and that we can increase our love and fervor by being faithful to our Lord and for me personally to take the time to acknowledge every person I meet/talk to throughout my day even if I’m in a rush.
Sep 8, 8:25 PM
VisitationSiste: Each present moment lived well leads us to sanctity, yes!
Sep 8, 8:26 PM
Brian (Guest): Soo Important Blanca !!!
Sep 8, 8:27 PM
Blanca Villa: I work at a law office with c
Sep 8, 8:28 PM
Ruth (Guest): Pardon me for taking so long. This computer in the hospital solarium has a rubber sheet over the entire keyboard and often the letters that appear on the screen are different from what I think I am typing, so I have to go back and correct a lot of it to make what I write even intelligible.
Sep 8, 8:28 PM
Blanca Villa: Clients who are in pain & I’m always rushed so this is a challenge for me.
Sep 8, 8:28 PM
Carroll (Guest): No worries Ruth!
Sep 8, 8:28 PM
Dawn (Guest): thank you for your effort to be here Ruth!
Sep 8, 8:30 PM
Carroll (Guest): Sr Mary Dolores would say, ” You’re taking care of Jesus,” Blanca… (She is one of the Srs from Brooklyn.)
Sep 8, 8:30 PM
Brian (Guest): I really like it when groups of people serve God together ! Remember the guys who cut the hole in the roof and lowered their friend too Jesus . Many Groups of Christians do this in many ways around the World !!!
Sep 8, 8:30 PM
VisitationSiste: yes.
Sep 8, 8:31 PM
VisitationSiste: and thank you Blanca for joining us tonight with your insights. We meet regularly on Sundays here!
Sep 8, 8:31 PM
Blanca Villa: Thanks Carroll.
Sep 8, 8:31 PM
VisitationSiste: Everyone have a blessed week!
Sep 8, 8:31 PM

Blanca Villa: Thank you! And good night to everyone. If you all can please pray for my mom, her name is Maria she is having back problems and may be having surgery. God bless you all.
Sep 8, 8:35 PM
Ruth (Guest): Funny Carroll, that you say that just now, because my doctor had been talking about what was worrisome or not something to worry about, and I got a little worked up saying something like, We shouldn’t WORRY about ANYTHING, maybe be CONCERNED enough to take it into account, but then, just DO what we understand to be the best thing and go from there. I’m not sure he understood; seems he might have felt a bit attacked by the energy with which I focused on the “semantics.”
Sep 8, 8:35 PM
Brian (Guest): God Bless You All !!! Thank You for Prayers for Kairos Men we had beautiful mini-retreat Friday Night and Saturday ! Keep Shining for Jesus in all the Beautiful Ways He Calls You Too !!!!
Sep 8, 8:36 PM

Dawn (Guest): goodnight Carroll and Brian. God bless your work
Sep 8, 8:41 PM
Ruth (Guest): Thank you all of yo0u. Blanca Villa, I hope to get better acquainted with you in future chats. This group has been a tremendous support for me. Tonight I told the chaplain about Living Jesus Chat. She had not heard of it before and was very interested; I gave her the information. I wo nder if she will join us some Sunday evening.

Sep 8, 8:57 PM
Ruth (Guest): Dawn I’ve written a couple of letters on my new iPad — always with LOTs of interruptions; and updates. I don’t know if I’ll get to it tonight, but I intend to e-mail them to you and maybe other long-distance close friends. I’ve missed 2 and a half Sunday chats and I feel it. I miss all of you! So I am grateful that I could get on this computer tonight. I’m sorry to hear of your being so ill. You are always in my prayers, though. I’ll put my hospital bed telephone number in the e-mail and believ
Sep 8, 8:59 PM
Ruth (Guest): believe that it’ll do both of us good to chat. I can only call Massachusetts from this phone though, and have considerable difficulty using my TracFone. Miriam is likely to call shortly, though, if she has not yet done so.
Sep 8, 9:00 PM
Ruth (Guest): Good night and have a blessed week.
