Oct 27, 7:26 PM

Jennifer Koo: Welcome viewers

Oct 27, 7:26 PM

Dawn (Guest): Hello Sr Susan and Jennifer!

Oct 27, 7:27 PM

Jennifer Koo: Hello Sr Susan

Oct 27, 7:27 PM

Jennifer Koo: Hi, Dawn

Oct 27, 7:27 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Hi Dawn and Jennifer

Oct 27, 7:28 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Difficult questions tonight- we are drawing close to the end of the Treatise on the Love of God Book 12 will be the last

Oct 27, 7:28 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Hi Blanca

Oct 27, 7:28 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Glad you all had a good chat last Sun I could not make it in time.

Oct 27, 7:29 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Glad to be back!

Oct 27, 7:29 PM

Jennifer Koo: Hi, Blanca

Oct 27, 7:29 PM

Dawn (Guest): I am happy you are here tonight Sr.

Oct 27, 7:29 PM

Blanca Villa: Hello everyone!

Oct 27, 7:29 PM

SrSusan (Guest): do we understand this question: What is the distinction between a sinner who doing works while dead in sin compared to the works of someone made dead by sin

Oct 27, 7:30 PM

SrSusan (Guest): I don;t think it is too clear

Oct 27, 7:30 PM

Dawn (Guest): I do not clearly understand the difference

Oct 27, 7:30 PM

SrSusan (Guest): it is subtle

Oct 27, 7:30 PM

Dawn (Guest): not in the question itself but in reading what Francis writes

Oct 27, 7:31 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Which paragraph?

Oct 27, 7:31 PM

Jennifer Koo: Hi, viewers

Oct 27, 7:33 PM

SrSusan (Guest): The works then of a sinner, while he is deprived of holy love, are not profitable to eternal life, and therefore they are called dead works: on the contrary the good works of the just man are said to be living, inasmuch as divine love animates and quickens them with its life. But if afterwards they lose their life and worth by sin, they are said to be works in death

Oct 27, 7:33 PM

SrSusan (Guest): does that help

Oct 27, 7:34 PM

Jennifer Koo: Hi, Phyllis

Oct 27, 7:34 PM

Phyllis Wong: Hi Jennifer

Oct 27, 7:34 PM

SrSusan (Guest): it seems to me that on a supernatural level, unseen to the eye, some good works have no value if the sinner does them tho on the natural level they may do some good

Oct 27, 7:35 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Hello Phyllis- are you here for first time?

Oct 27, 7:35 PM

Phyllis Wong: M i in the right chat?

Oct 27, 7:35 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes, Phyllis you are

Oct 27, 7:36 PM

Phyllis Wong: Yes. Are you sister Jennifer?

Oct 27, 7:36 PM

Jennifer Koo: Phyllis is from Singapore, and she wanted to know more

Oct 27, 7:36 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Great!

Oct 27, 7:36 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes, I am Sr Jennifer

Oct 27, 7:37 PM

SrSusan (Guest): It seems to me that philanthropists, for ex who let’s s ay are serious sinners, might give lots of money away and that will help someone who receives it, but on the soul level it does not help the giver. Is that how you understand this ?

Oct 27, 7:37 PM

Phyllis Wong: Okay. How are you? And when is good weather there?

Oct 27, 7:38 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Hi Lisa

Oct 27, 7:38 PM

Lisa C: What about a philanthropist who never had the grace of being taught about God?

Oct 27, 7:39 PM

Lisa C: Hi Mother and everyone

Oct 27, 7:39 PM

Jennifer Koo: If the poor sinner afterwards return to God, then God will remember his former good

Oct 27, 7:39 PM

Jennifer Koo: Hi, Lisa

Oct 27, 7:39 PM

SrSusan (Guest): all is in the judgement of God- He has mercy on the ignorant I think

Oct 27, 7:39 PM

SrSusan (Guest): The return of sin deprives the heart and all its works of life: the return of grace restores life to the heart and all its works.

Oct 27, 7:39 PM

SrSusan (Guest): said St Francis

Oct 27, 7:39 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes

Oct 27, 7:40 PM

SrSusan (Guest): weather is good in May-Oct

Oct 27, 7:40 PM

Lisa C: That seems eminently fair that the works come back to good when the soul returns to a state of grace

Oct 27, 7:40 PM

Jennifer Koo: She wanted to come and attend mass here, maybe to make a retreat

Oct 27, 7:41 PM

SrSusan (Guest): wonderful!!

Oct 27, 7:41 PM

SrSusan (Guest): no matter how many good works we have, we can easily render all of that empty through a single mortal sin. What are your thoughts on this?Does all of this make God unfair?

Oct 27, 7:41 PM

Jennifer Koo: Hi, Ruth

Oct 27, 7:41 PM

Dawn (Guest): God then does not forget the works of those who having lost love by sin recover it by penance. Now God forgets works when they lose their merit and sanctity by sin committed, and he remembers them when they return to life and vigour by the presence of holy love. Yes, this is how I understood, your example clarified

Oct 27, 7:42 PM

Lisa C: No, God is never unfair, He is always just. If we are separated from God by sin, then we have no life and it is by life in the Holy Spirit that we attain merit in heaven for our works.

Oct 27, 7:42 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes, that’s what I understood as well. Is that right, Mother?

Oct 27, 7:42 PM

Blanca Villa: That was my understanding as well.

Oct 27, 7:43 PM

SrSusan (Guest): I think so! The place of Divine Mercy is what I am thinking of now

Oct 27, 7:43 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Hi Ruth

Oct 27, 7:43 PM

Jennifer Koo: I think everyone has the same idea

Oct 27, 7:44 PM

SrSusan (Guest): can we Discuss this idea that even though the works of sin can destroy, it does not compare with the works of charity.

Oct 27, 7:45 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes

Oct 27, 7:45 PM

Lisa C: God’s love can overcome all the damage done by sin.

Oct 27, 7:46 PM

Lisa C: In the new Jerusalem God will rebuild the world in a perfect way with no damage from sin.

Oct 27, 7:46 PM

Jennifer Koo: I think when we have sin, it separates us from God

Oct 27, 7:46 PM

SrSusan (Guest): God’s love is like His mercy

Oct 27, 7:46 PM

SrSusan (Guest): St Francis says sin proceeds from our infirmity, charity proceeds from God’s power

Oct 27, 7:46 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Hi Brian

Oct 27, 7:47 PM

Jennifer Koo: Hi, Brain

Oct 27, 7:47 PM

Ruth (Guest): That is an interesting passage.

Oct 27, 7:47 PM

Lisa C: Love and mercy seem different to me, God loves no matter what, but gives mercy only if we repent

Oct 27, 7:47 PM

SrSusan (Guest): very- and fairly deep

Oct 27, 7:47 PM

SrSusan (Guest): that’s an interesting statement Lisa

Oct 27, 7:47 PM

Dawn (Guest): Hi Ruth, Lisa Blanca and Brian

Oct 27, 7:48 PM

Lisa C: To receive mercy we have to exercise the free will of repentance

Oct 27, 7:48 PM

Jennifer Koo: I like St Francis writing, worth reading and to ponder

Oct 27, 7:48 PM

Lisa C: otherwise we are still in the power of sin

Oct 27, 7:48 PM

Phyllis Wong: Yes, i am thinking of doing a retreat there. However it will be with God’s grace. Thank you and I will let u know in advance when I am planning. Until then take care and meet in chat again. See you!

Oct 27, 7:48 PM

Brian (Guest): Hi Blanca, Phyllis, Jennifer , Ruth , Lisa , Sister Susan , Jennifer , and Dawn !!! God Bless You !!!

Oct 27, 7:48 PM

Ruth (Guest): Hello Sr. Susan, Sr. Jennifer, Dawn, Lisa, Brian, Blancha; welcome Phyllis and viewers.

Oct 27, 7:48 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Blessings Phyllis Hope to meet you!

Oct 27, 7:48 PM

Jennifer Koo: I think you have to write to Mother

Oct 27, 7:49 PM

Dawn (Guest): Do you think he sometimes gives mercy and this loving act brings repentance in a sinner…

Oct 27, 7:49 PM

Jennifer Koo: See you Phyllis

Oct 27, 7:49 PM

SrSusan (Guest): another interesting thought Dawn

Oct 27, 7:49 PM

Lisa C: He gives love that brings repentance

Oct 27, 7:49 PM

SrSusan (Guest): if one responds to that love, yes, then one repents

Oct 27, 7:50 PM

Lisa C: Mercy has to come after someone is sorry or else he is still separated from God. If we are separated we cannot have mercy or anything else.

Oct 27, 7:50 PM

Dawn (Guest): but we can receive it?

Oct 27, 7:50 PM

SrSusan (Guest): in what sense sepaprated though, as in a way if we were completely separated we would no longer exist

Oct 27, 7:51 PM

Blanca Villa: I have always equated God’s mercy to his love.

Oct 27, 7:51 PM

Jennifer Koo: God has loves us before we know Him

Oct 27, 7:51 PM

Lisa C: Sin will separate us from God completely. No we always exist. We are separated from seeing Him and being with Him.

Oct 27, 7:52 PM

Lisa C: Our souls are forever, without God we are in hell

Oct 27, 7:52 PM

Dawn (Guest): He is always calling us, for his will is for everyone to turn to him

Oct 27, 7:52 PM

Lisa C: I think we will have a chance to chose Him even if it is at the last second.

Oct 27, 7:52 PM

Jennifer Koo: I think that’s why Jesus descended into shell

Oct 27, 7:52 PM

Brian (Guest): God’s Mercy and Protection seems to be upon many as they gradually seem to open their eyes to God and begin to pursue Him even in small ways even a glance !!!

Oct 27, 7:53 PM

Lisa C: Hell was when Jesus gave us His spirit and separated from God the Father

Oct 27, 7:53 PM

Ruth (Guest): I find all this rather confusing. Francis is a Saint and I am not, so I must take his words seriously. But he seems to me to be talking/writing as if there is an off/on switch and that one is either/or in sin or not. And applies this, it seems, even to infirmities, not just mortal sin. Aren’t we all sinners? Don’t we all have infirmities? And doesn’t God’s power shine through, at least sometimes, despite our infirmities?

Oct 27, 7:53 PM

Lisa C: He had to get His Spirit back to come back to life

Oct 27, 7:54 PM

SrSusan (Guest): I think he means mortal sin or deadly sin as St John wrote

Oct 27, 7:54 PM

Dawn (Guest): thank you for question Ruth

Oct 27, 7:54 PM

Lisa C: Ruth, there is mortal sin and venial sin, mortal separates us from God until we repent.

Oct 27, 7:55 PM

Jennifer Koo: I don’t think that is referring to infirmity physically

Oct 27, 7:56 PM

Blanca Villa: Infirmities refer to our weaknesses that lead us into sin.

Oct 27, 7:57 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes, I agreed

Oct 27, 7:57 PM

SrSusan (Guest): What can we do to ensure we continue to walk in the power of divine charity

Oct 27, 7:57 PM

Lisa C: Confess our sins

Oct 27, 7:57 PM

Lisa C: Receive the sacraments

Oct 27, 7:57 PM

Lisa C: Pray

Oct 27, 7:58 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Live Truth- Live Jesus

Oct 27, 7:58 PM

Lisa C: Make sacrifices

Oct 27, 7:58 PM

Brian (Guest): Prayer , Christian Action , and Study !!!

Oct 27, 7:58 PM

Blanca Villa: Yes on all.

Oct 27, 7:58 PM

Jennifer Koo: Stay in the present of God all the time

Oct 27, 7:58 PM

SrSusan (Guest): good companionship, Christian friends

Oct 27, 7:59 PM

Brian (Guest): Amen Sister Susan !!!

Oct 27, 8:00 PM

Brian (Guest): Soo many avoid Christian Community when we need Christian Friends Soo Much !!!

Oct 27, 8:01 PM

Lisa C: That is the one thing Protestants do better than we do

Oct 27, 8:01 PM

SrSusan (Guest): with so much controversy these days it is sometimes difficult-

Oct 27, 8:01 PM

Ruth (Guest): So true, Lisa.

Oct 27, 8:01 PM

SrSusan (Guest): after services you mean Lisa?

Oct 27, 8:02 PM

Lisa C: They have more social activities together as a parish, retreats, weekly meals, prayer groups, etc.

Oct 27, 8:02 PM

Brian (Guest): Great Opportunities Everywhere to Build Community !!!

Oct 27, 8:02 PM

Lisa C: Youth groups too

Oct 27, 8:03 PM

SrSusan (Guest): interesting because when I look at parish bulletins they seem to have so much going on

Oct 27, 8:03 PM

Jennifer Koo: Protestant have good communication and cell group s

Oct 27, 8:03 PM

Ruth (Guest): What is difficult, Sister? Creating a welcoming atmosphere — during a crisis time in the life of the Church?

Oct 27, 8:03 PM

SrSusan (Guest): what is a cell group

Oct 27, 8:03 PM

Dawn (Guest): Some parishes are very alive I think, well I read about them or listen to their priests talk

Oct 27, 8:03 PM

Jennifer Koo: It means that the small Christian community

Oct 27, 8:04 PM

Jennifer Koo: There’s more personal care

Oct 27, 8:04 PM

Brian (Guest): No Better Time to Build Community than during a time of Crisis !!! Nobody does that better than the Catholic Church !!!!

Oct 27, 8:05 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Persoanl care- that is interesting to learn about

Oct 27, 8:05 PM

Dawn (Guest): Thank you Brian, I do think this IS happening in many places

Oct 27, 8:06 PM

Brian (Guest): Amen Dawn !!!

Oct 27, 8:07 PM

Dawn (Guest): However, perhaps the small community is also part of his glorious plan…

Oct 27, 8:07 PM

Jennifer Koo: When a church is getting too big, grouping of people who stayed nearby or age group, interest, education or social backgrounds …

Oct 27, 8:08 PM

Jennifer Koo: Group members will know everyone well and taking care of one another

Oct 27, 8:08 PM

Brian (Guest): The World lacks Resiliance . The Church is Resiliance in Action !!!! I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens Me !!!

Oct 27, 8:08 PM

Ruth (Guest): I had a good experience yesterday. Went to the parish where our former pastor is now pastor for a discussion of the book by Bishop Barron: Letter to a Suffering Church and prayer and meditation time.

Oct 27, 8:08 PM

SrSusan (Guest): very good idea- do they have their own pastor

Oct 27, 8:09 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes, every group will be under the care of a pastor

Oct 27, 8:09 PM

SrSusan (Guest): so we would need more priests then

Oct 27, 8:09 PM

SrSusan (Guest): any other outstanding topics tonite anyone wants to discuss?

Oct 27, 8:10 PM

Jennifer Koo: Before I left the protestant church, I belong to a cell group that we have 70 active families

Oct 27, 8:11 PM

Jennifer Koo: Maybe we should talk about St Margaret Mary

Oct 27, 8:11 PM

Ruth (Guest): Another name for those small groups or cells is “house church.” We have a sort of model for it in the Jewish Sabbath family meal, to which, at least sometimes, others are also invited.

Oct 27, 8:11 PM

Brian (Guest): The Visitation !!!

Oct 27, 8:12 PM

SrSusan (Guest): ?

Oct 27, 8:12 PM

Jennifer Koo: This is not the house church. It is only a fellowship

Oct 27, 8:12 PM

SrSusan (Guest): did you all view the new video about St Margaret Mary and Sacred heart?

Oct 27, 8:13 PM

Jennifer Koo: New video? Where?

Oct 27, 8:13 PM

Dawn (Guest): It was beautiful, the video

Oct 27, 8:13 PM

SrSusan (Guest): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lolor_0iZQ

Oct 27, 8:13 PM

Blanca Villa: Yes!

Oct 27, 8:13 PM

Lisa C: yes

Oct 27, 8:13 PM

Brian (Guest): The mention of this great event with Mary and Elizabeth is Soo powerful !!!

Oct 27, 8:13 PM

Ruth (Guest): Wow! Jennifer, I did not know a cell could be that big — 70 families. I always thought of it as maybe 3 or 5 persons to about a maximum of 24 or maybe 30 — the number of people one can really interact with on a regular basis.

Oct 27, 8:15 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes, 5 of us are appointed to visit the sick, or whoever needs help in the group

Oct 27, 8:15 PM

Jennifer Koo: This is what I mean personal care

Oct 27, 8:16 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Perhaps after this Treatise book we can do a short series on St Margaret Mary and Sacred heart for chat- let me know your ideas

Oct 27, 8:16 PM

Jennifer Koo: Wow, Mother. That’s good

Oct 27, 8:16 PM

Jennifer Koo: It’s the Jubilee year

Oct 27, 8:17 PM

Blanca Villa: I vote yes.

Oct 27, 8:17 PM

Dawn (Guest): Good idea

Oct 27, 8:17 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Therre are books on line we could use- and add with other mterial

Oct 27, 8:17 PM

Jennifer Koo: I say Yes

Oct 27, 8:19 PM

Lisa C: Maybe we could also do her spiritual director Saint Claude de la Colombière

Oct 27, 8:19 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Yes we could I think

Oct 27, 8:19 PM

SrSusan (Guest): What a beautiful way to live Jubilee year

Oct 27, 8:20 PM

Jennifer Koo: Yes, good idea

Oct 27, 8:20 PM

Brian (Guest): Have had several opportunities in recent weeks to talk to Moms who are are pregnant and the recognition that we give to these ladies with child is powerful example of Gods Love and the affirmation of Life !!!! Just as what took place during the Visitation !!!

Oct 27, 8:20 PM

Ruth (Guest): Here we have an organization called Mercy Care for the Adirondacks. It is volunteers working mostly with homebound elderly people — after very comprehensive training — in various capacities. It was started by the Mercy Sisters together with a sociology professor.

Oct 27, 8:20 PM

Dawn (Guest): Yes!

Oct 27, 8:21 PM

Ruth (Guest): I am fine with the idea.

Oct 27, 8:21 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Brian I had a meditation on pro life and visitation Have you read that

Oct 27, 8:22 PM

SrSusan (Guest): https://visitationspirit.org/2019/01/the-visitation-proclaims-life-in-the-womb-2/

Oct 27, 8:23 PM

Ruth (Guest): Thanks for calling our attention to the article, Sister.

Oct 27, 8:23 PM

Dawn (Guest): Thank you

Oct 27, 8:24 PM

Brian (Guest): Thank You Sister Susan I will read !!! Elizabeth’s recognition of Baby John kicking at the near presence of Christ in Mary very early on in her pregnancy is Lifesaving !!!

Oct 27, 8:26 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Hi Carroll

Oct 27, 8:26 PM

Carroll (Guest): Missing you all last week and tonight- Elisabeth is now bedridden and requiring my attention this time of night.

Oct 27, 8:29 PM

Dawn (Guest): Amen

Oct 27, 8:29 PM

Ruth (Guest): Thank you, Sister Susan, for all the work — and love — you put into this.

Oct 27, 8:29 PM

Carroll (Guest): Enjoyed the meditation this week and looking forward to reviewing chat. Thank you all for being here! I have to run for now. Have a blessed week.

Ruth (Guest): Thanks for stopping by Carroll, you always make a good contribution. Elizabeth is blessed to have you caring for her. All the best to both of you. And to ALL of you chat members and viewers.

Oct 27, 8:31 PM

Brian (Guest): Heard a story of Heartbreak . Father Baker was called to Erie Canal by workers who were dredging canal . They found a holocost of skeletons from young children . Moms were soo shamed by culture of day that they would take children’s life this way . Today we have whole families that shame young girls into abortion . Father Baker started an infant home to saves the lives of these children . Christian Action . We must support these young girls in having their children today any way we can instead of shaming

Oct 27, 8:33 PM

Brian (Guest): God Bless You All !!! Keep Shining for Jesus !!!

Oct 27, 8:33 PM

Dawn (Guest): This is really the pro life movement….supporting those who offer

Oct 27, 8:35 PM

Dawn (Guest): I believe there are homes for mothers opening near some PP

Oct 27, 8:35 PM

Ruth (Guest): Yes, local Catholic Daughters have a baby shower once a year and collect enough baby clothes and paraphernalia and money to supply the entire diocese — many centers offering support for unwed mothers.

Oct 27, 8:35 PM

Dawn (Guest): wonderful!

Oct 27, 8:36 PM

Ruth (Guest): Good night. Have a blessed week.

Oct 27, 8:37 PM
