Apr 5, 7:27 Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): welcome guests Tonight we begin second session of St Francis de Sales Spiritual Conferences
Apr 5, 7:30 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Early chapters on the Rule
Apr 5, 7:30 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Hi Michelle
Apr 5, 7:30 PM
Carroll V (Guest): Hello everyone
Apr 5, 7:30 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Hi Carroll
Apr 5, 7:31 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): If we think of our confusing times now the first question surely applies:How can one person’s disobedience put the entire community in disarray
Apr 5, 7:32 PM
Sr Jennifer (Guest): Hello everyone
Apr 5, 7:32 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Hi
Apr 5, 7:32 PM
Carroll V (Guest): Hi Sr Jennifer
Apr 5, 7:32 PM
Guest5744 (Guest): Hello sister Susan Marie which prayer is good for healing mind and and healing body this question from Betty which prayer is the best for healing?
Apr 5, 7:33 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): I have to look for a healing prayer
Apr 5, 7:34 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: To the question. If someone doesn’t follow proper protocol, such as distancing, washing hands or covering their mouth it would put others at risk
Apr 5, 7:34 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): For example, in any institute or program order is expected So disobedience ruins that order and then the goal one is trying to reach may not be reached
Apr 5, 7:34 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Exactly Michelle and are we not seeing that?
Apr 5, 7:34 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Yes
Apr 5, 7:35 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: The number of cases continue to rise. Initially because people didn’t take it seriously
Apr 5, 7:37 PM
Guest5744 (Guest): Why is the holy communion is so important to us that is why I ask you because I want to know? Bettychao
Apr 5, 7:37 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): I am not sure people view this as disobedience
Apr 5, 7:37 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Holy Communion is Jesus
Apr 5, 7:38 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Besides this crisis and religious life where else have you encountered places where “being obedient” is important?
Apr 5, 7:38 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Traffic rules
Apr 5, 7:39 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Very serious consequences!
Apr 5, 7:40 PM
Carroll V (Guest): In Society today, the trend is for each individual to interpret or chhose for himself what is true or right. Therefore, obedience is simply not modelled… not even by our leaders.
Apr 5, 7:40 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): True- like why are the leaders not wearing masks , visibly, at this time
Apr 5, 7:40 PM
Carroll V (Guest): Yes.
Apr 5, 7:42 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Hi Braina and Dawn
Apr 5, 7:42 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Brian
Apr 5, 7:42 PM
Brian (Guest): Hi Sister Susan , Michelle , Dawn , Guest , Carrol V and All !!! God Bless You !!!
Apr 5, 7:42 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Is there ever a reason to be sympathetic to another’s disobedience
Apr 5, 7:43 PM
Dawn (Guest): Hi Sr Susan ,everyone Carroll Brian Michelle and Sr Jennifer
Apr 5, 7:43 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: If a person is ignorant of the rule or if they don’t have the capacity to understand the rule
Apr 5, 7:44 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Ah- yes. and then to try to control the situation if they don’t have the capacity?
Apr 5, 7:45 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Yes, if it can be done with charity
Apr 5, 7:45 PM
Brian (Guest): I think understanding where people might be on their journey toward Christ we should be patient and allow them too make mistakes !!!
Apr 5, 7:46 PM
Carroll V (Guest): Often disobedience stems from either confusion or some underlying disorder. So, it is important to have compassion… and to try to clarify the source of the disobedience in order to restore order rightly.
Apr 5, 7:46 PM
Guest5744 (Guest): So is my friend sister Teresa she don’t know that question eather? My friend my spiritual guider she is in Spain she is a mother Abess and a nun a Benedictine nun from saint BENET monastery she know how to speak English. She told me pray to the our lady of Guadalupe she will not let you down and she will let you raise up you faith so it will not let you fall down ? What is that mean? Bettychao this question for sr susan
Apr 5, 7:46 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Yes compassion !
Apr 5, 7:47 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): I think your Benedictine nun means you will always be protected by Our Lady, Betty
Apr 5, 7:48 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): How can we keep in mind the repercussions of disobedience as mentioned by St. Francis when we might feel tempted to be disobedient to our bishops during this unusual time? I think re no Mass in many places
Apr 5, 7:50 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): It has been difficult fior us to not have Mass. Do you still all have Mass where you live?
Apr 5, 7:51 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: The repercussions could put others at risk of the virus. No, we have no Mass in Pennsylvania
Apr 5, 7:51 PM
Rutj (Guest): Priest celebrate in an empty church.
Apr 5, 7:51 PM
Dawn (Guest): I read recently A great temptation is to demand that God return what we have lost. In the fiels of tragedy, God sows seeds of new life. I have pondered on this whenever I begin to feel “I want”…it has helped me to remain patient and to just watch
Apr 5, 7:51 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Welcome Rutj
Apr 5, 7:51 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Good point Dawn– maybe “new life” is ahead of us
Apr 5, 7:52 PM
Dawn (Guest): We hope so
Apr 5, 7:52 PM
Apr 5, 7:52 PM
Rutj (Guest): Rutj is Ruth. Just missed the “h” key.
Apr 5, 7:53 PM
Dawn (Guest): We have no Mass here in sierras but we do have new snow!
Apr 5, 7:53 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Yes, we have online Mass too
Apr 5, 7:53 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: We will also have Holy Week Services on line
Apr 5, 7:53 PM
Dawn (Guest): Hi Rutj
Apr 5, 7:54 PM
Brian (Guest): I think about Spanish Flu Pandemic !!! Cities that used masks and shut things down saved many Lives those that did not lost many lives .
Apr 5, 7:54 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Hi Ruth! Thought you were a new member!
Apr 5, 7:54 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): new article for later: http://www.catholic365.com/article/11281/nine-heroic-efforts-of-st-jane-de-chantal-to-combat-one-of-europes-worst-plagues.html#
Apr 5, 7:55 PM
Apr 5, 7:55 PM
Dawn (Guest): Priests have truly stepped forwarded everywhere to help people, to offer Mass and other things.
Apr 5, 7:55 PM
Dawn (Guest): forward
Apr 5, 7:56 PM
Dawn (Guest): wonderful article Sr, thank you
Apr 5, 7:56 PM
Carroll V (Guest): No Mass here. Initially, Diocese of Venice closed all churches completely, but Diocese of St Petersburg ( “next door”) permitted private prayer in churches. Friends were driving there to pray. I struggled with that desire, but did not have peace about going because it seemed that as a resident of this diocese, I should obey this Bishop. It turned into an opportunity to fully enter in to the ” desert” and also spiritual connectedness of others in my parish and beyond.
Apr 5, 7:57 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Two of our priests have died from the virus in our Diocese
Apr 5, 7:57 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Venice was offering confession. I saw that on their website.
Apr 5, 7:57 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Among every family or group living together there are rules to live by, even if they are unwritten. What do we do if someone breaks a rule?
Apr 5, 7:57 PM
Brian (Guest): Soo Sorry Sister Susan !!! How are all the Sisters Doing !!!!
Apr 5, 7:58 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): We are all ok praise God!
Apr 5, 7:58 PM
Dawn (Guest): oh very sorry to hear about your priests
Apr 5, 7:59 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Depending on the rule there are various ways of reprimanding. Some may be a verbal reprimand and others may carry a fine, yet others prison time
Apr 5, 8:00 PM
Rutj (Guest): And there are natural consequences of disobeying the rules of social distancing.
Apr 5, 8:00 PM
Brian (Guest): Praise God Sister Susan !!! I have been preparing too sleep outside in car if I need too . Being deployed into the Hospital tommorow . We have positive cases and very short of staff with quarantines !!!!
Apr 5, 8:00 PM
Carroll V (Guest): Yes Michelle, we have drive through Confession, which is a real blessing and participation in daily livestream Mass and Adoration is good.
Apr 5, 8:01 PM
Dawn (Guest): I am in the midst of a situation where someone was deciding to ignore the rules and so when she told me I simply said my thoughts on the matter. its not been easy but with prayers I think it turned around and she decided to not follow thru with her plan.
Apr 5, 8:01 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Brian where do you work- in a hospital? Special and extra prayers!
Apr 5, 8:01 PM
Rutj (Guest): Dawn, so glad to hear it!

Apr 5, 8:02 PM
Rutj (Guest): The turn around I mean.
Apr 5, 8:03 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Yes I agree Ruth- that was positive, Dawn!
Apr 5, 8:03 PM
Rutj (Guest): We prayed together about that just last night.
Apr 5, 8:03 PM
Dawn (Guest): yes, thank you Ruth. now, to pray for the offended feelings. well it caused me to think of Sr Susan and the monastary. the situations that may arise and needing to tell someone what they do not want to hear. its not an easy thing to do I imagine
Apr 5, 8:03 PM
Rutj (Guest): On the phone.
Apr 5, 8:03 PM
Brian (Guest): I have worked 24 years in outpatient clinics outside of Hospital but before that I worked in the Buffalo Psychiatric Center . I will be returning too my roots !!!
Apr 5, 8:04 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Do you have proper protective gear Brian?
Apr 5, 8:04 PM
Brian (Guest): 11 years in the Hospital
Apr 5, 8:04 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): You are on the front lines now!
Apr 5, 8:04 PM
Rutj (Guest): Brian, going back to in-patient work?

Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Good preparation Brian and ask her to intercede for you
Apr 5, 8:07 PM
Rutj (Guest): They closed the inpatient psych unit here. I think to make room for the expected flood of patients.
Apr 5, 8:07 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Wow- that is serious
Apr 5, 8:08 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): What ideas have crossed your mind about the spiritual underpinnings of this crisis
Apr 5, 8:08 PM
Brian (Guest): Thank You Dawn and Everybody for your prayers for all of us !!!
Apr 5, 8:09 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: I think it has given people time to reflect on life and the need to trust in God rather than ourselves.
Apr 5, 8:09 PM
Brian (Guest): Amen Sister Susan !!! I feel her Joy in Christ !!!!
Apr 5, 8:10 PM
Guest5744 (Guest): Sr Susan Marie why all you monastery rules are very private and follow private order? I am just asking I don’t mean rude?
Apr 5, 8:10 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: As advance we are as a country – we can’t control the virus. I hope it opens up a dependence on God
Apr 5, 8:10 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: I also think this has given time for families to bond more.
Apr 5, 8:11 PM
Brian (Guest): Soo Many beginning too look toward or back too God !!!! God Help is all to be a Helpful Witness too your Love for Others !!!
Apr 5, 8:11 PM
Dawn (Guest): a great turning around towards God
Apr 5, 8:11 PM
Rutj (Guest): Did not Our Lady predict chastisements if people did not amend their ways? And it may not be “just by chance” or “just” Trump’s disregard for science (climate, CDC, etc.) that the USA has the highest numbers . . .
Apr 5, 8:11 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Because one has to understand them and have them explained Betty by someone who knows
Apr 5, 8:12 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Yes we have been warned and repentance is needed
Apr 5, 8:12 PM
Carroll V (Guest): The world certainly deserves chastisement, but it is not for us to determine why God is allowing this. It is more important to acknowledge that the Holy Spirit is not the author of trauma. The enemy is at work and the best way to overcome evil is to have COMPLETE confidence in the Love and Mercy of God.
Apr 5, 8:13 PM
Brian (Guest): Our Technology is being used in this Holocost for Great Good !!!
Apr 5, 8:15 PM
Dawn (Guest): and to repent. make reparations. We can have complete confidence in God and should while remembering he is also a Just God….
Apr 5, 8:15 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Yes and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus!
Apr 5, 8:15 PM
Brian (Guest): Amen !!!
Apr 5, 8:16 PM
Rutj (Guest): Maybe with quarantining and the worst economic crisis and virtually everyone forced to remember that death is a reality, people will become more reflective and try to get their values in order. Even 9-11 had some of that as a consequence. Permissive will of God. Whew! We have to go on believing that God IS Love, and helping make his love shine through . . .
Apr 5, 8:16 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): Families can enthrone the Sacred heart in their homes
Apr 5, 8:16 PM
Dawn (Guest): Amen! I look forward to reading article you posted by St Jane
Apr 5, 8:16 PM
Carroll V (Guest): I put an image of Divine Mercy on my front door facing out. Since Jedus is the Blood of the Lamb, the Marion Fathers are inviting this practice to ask for spiritual protection. In my apartment complex, this has started to create an opportunity for evangelization. There is SO much available online now, too… perhaps many conversions will ultimately come from this.
Apr 5, 8:16 PM
Guest5744 (Guest): Sr Susan Marie why you have someone explain me the last question?
Apr 5, 8:16 PM
Sister Susan Marie (Moderator): That’s great Carroll
Apr 5, 8:17 PM
Dawn (Guest): Thats wonderful Carroll
Apr 5, 8:18 PM
Sister Susan

6. How does a married couple apply this advice, since there is no one superior,
but the two are co-superiors, in a way.
Apr 5, 8:18 PM
