About humility, Saint Francis says the “humble think that all others far outdo them and are much better than they. How is this different from pusillanimity, which is a lack of courage or determination, or in other words timidity? As we have discussed in the past, how is obedience an important factor when considering our response to the bishops’ decisions to cancel the public celebration of the sacraments? Why do you think obedience is an undervalued virtue? Where in our world could we see a ben

VisitationSiste: Where in our world could we see a benefit from a greater practice of obedience?
It’s obvious that we should obey our superiors. It’s also good to obey our equals, such as married partners. But when is it prudent to disobey someone equal or inferior to us?

May 3, 7:34 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): i think just studied the catholic teaching and studied the holy bible and live in the word from the lord
May 3, 7:34 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Most of the saints practised humility and grew in this virtue
May 3, 7:35 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Hi Blanca and Ruth- Sr Susan here

Guest7584 (Guest): Saint Francis says the “humble think that all others far outdo them and are much better than they. How is this different from pusillanimity, which is a lack of courage or determination, or in other words timidity?
May 3, 7:36 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Ok Dawn!
May 3, 7:36 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): because jesus show example the good example to show us how to live in the right way the saints and hist apostles follow in his way.
May 3, 7:37 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: True humility takes strength of character. A week person who does things out of fear is not practicing Humikity
May 3, 7:37 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Weak
May 3, 7:38 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): just obey the ten commdments and live in the right path as jesus point you the way
May 3, 7:38 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Good poit- so first we need to pray for and develop strength of character- which the trials of life often help us to achieve
May 3, 7:38 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): point
May 3, 7:39 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Humility accepts oneself as they are and listens to the other with an open mind and heart.
May 3, 7:40 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): I have known very humble persons and one of them is a man without sight who oozed this humility- it was in his voice, in his questions, in his requests for assistance
May 3, 7:41 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Yes, when you meet someone who is truly humble you can sense it in the way they talk and act
May 3, 7:42 PM
Blanca Villa: The humbled have acquired the virtue of humility by action and the timid usually don’t take action at all. Sometimes that is confused with humility. Does that make sense?
May 3, 7:42 PM
Ruth (Guest): I think being humble means being face-to-face with reality.
May 3, 7:43 PM
Ruth (Guest): What you say makes a lot of sense, Blancha.
May 3, 7:43 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Yes, Blanca that is true.
May 3, 7:44 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Often it is said humility is truth.
May 3, 7:44 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): jesus say i am the way of truth and life and faith i humble my self to the father you too anyone who does not humble theyself and not follow the word of the lord is not my apostles.anyone who love the lord by action that tell all the people you are really christian not just only go to mass and pray rosary you must share the jesus love to eachother by action.that is true christian.
May 3, 7:46 PM
Ruth (Guest): Amen, Betty.
May 3, 7:46 PM
Ruth (Guest): And sometimes that means service you would not ordinarily do.
May 3, 7:47 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Very true!
May 3, 7:47 PM
Blanca Villa: Agree
May 3, 7:47 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): How is humility and obedience related? That thought just came to me
May 3, 7:48 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: In order to be obedient one must have humility.
May 3, 7:49 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): the ten commdments of God teach us live in love and humble
May 3, 7:49 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: It is human nature to want to do what we want or to think we know better than another person. As I said, it take strength to obey
May 3, 7:50 PM
Blanca Villa: In order to obey one must humble one self to the authority of another.
May 3, 7:50 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Sometimes it not a person of authority
May 3, 7:50 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): sister susan this is bettychao just pray with divine mercy of jesus and read the more gaspel that help you obey and humble to the lord.bettychao
May 3, 7:50 PM
Ruth (Guest): I remember being humbled to the point of tears, when, one morning early, after I had been on duty nearly 24 hours in the emergency room, a nurse — and I was just a resident physician, usually the brunt of experienced nurses “put downs”, that male nurse brought me a cup of tea, and looking around for a wastebasket to put the hot teabag in after it had steeped enough, he noticed, stretched out his hand, and said, “Put it here.”
May 3, 7:52 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Betty, you are right – pray is very necessary to develop humility
May 3, 7:52 PM
Ruth (Guest): It was such a kindness, a humble act on his part.
May 3, 7:52 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Yes and God gives us that gift
May 3, 7:53 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: It is a gift because we can not do it on our own
May 3, 7:53 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): do you think obedience is an undervalued virtue?
May 3, 7:53 PM
Blanca Villa: I don’t think one can exist without the other.
May 3, 7:53 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Yes, in today’s society it is looked upon as weakness
May 3, 7:54 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): i remenber I have a indian dance teacher name malathi iyengar I am so accept her as friend and I love her and her dance program and I say something praise her but she rejected and hate me in all her life and treated me as enimies. the first time my sister monica is angry at her but I forgive her and I do forgive and forget.Jesus say forgive other I will forgive you the sins you do.bettychao
May 3, 7:55 PM
Ruth (Guest): And once, when I was a patient, a nurse who was a Mercy sister, a nun, took the bedpan with such humility you’d think I was giving her a marvelous gift! It would have seemed funny had she not been so sincere!
May 3, 7:56 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Forgiveness is so essential too, tat is why it is preached so often and also because lots of people steruggle with it
May 3, 7:57 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): In a monastery obedience is not undervalued but it is the hardest evangelical counsel to follow, many say
May 3, 7:57 PM
Blanca Villa: I agree. We live in a “Me & I do what I want” culture.
May 3, 7:58 PM
Carol Ann: Hello Everyone!
May 3, 7:59 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): priests and bishop and sisters nun they can do mistake but the difference is they can confession with jesus and make a vow to jesus that they not do the same mistake again. i think they must watch out thier action more important then us.even we are catholic we also must watch the action which is welcome christ in our life or not so action is important.
May 3, 7:59 PM
Ruth (Guest): Often in ordinary life outside the religious houses, one has to decide whether or not to be obedient. It happens way too often that some “superior” is trying to get you to do something immoral just so that the administration will not blame him. You may have to put your “head on the chopping block” professionally just in order to maintain your integrity.
May 3, 7:59 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Even at work (outside a monastery) obedience is hard for people. It’s our society that makes it difficult to be obedient.
May 3, 8:00 PM
Blanca Villa: Sad, but true Ruth.
May 3, 8:00 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Hi all!
May 3, 8:00 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Oh yes, Ruth that is true
May 3, 8:00 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Where in our world could we see a benefit from a greater practice of obedience?
May 3, 8:01 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Right now with the virus. Following guidelines would be a good test of obedience
May 3, 8:02 PM
Carol Ann: In the public forum, we could obey our governors better during this epidemic. Many are refusing to follow because they think its stupid
May 3, 8:02 PM
Blanca Villa: I think right now in the whole world with the stay in shelter orders.
May 3, 8:02 PM
Ruth (Guest): Simple, if everyone followed traffic laws, for example, there would be fewer accidents, and those that do occur, might have less serious consequences, e.g. because they would involve lower speeds.
May 3, 8:02 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): i have a friend name Sister Anna nubiola she is accept me like a grandmother and grandchild she told me the same thing.when you read the bible about action humbled and love ask the the holyspirit to guide you.the holy spirit that jesus said he is burn the fire of love in our soul we need holy spirit.bettychao
May 3, 8:04 PM
Ruth (Guest): All day I’ve been singing “Come Holy Spirit!”
May 3, 8:04 PM
Carol Ann: Good preparation for Pentecost
May 3, 8:04 PM
Ruth (Guest): It is important for each to do his part to slow the spread of COVID19, so that hospitals are not overwhelmed with the sick and dying.
May 3, 8:05 PM
Blanca Villa: It is tragic that some people are disobeying those that want to keep them & their families safe.
May 3, 8:06 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): And Sr Anna also teach me read the bible in deeply becuase bible when jesus got killed on the cross he ask God to forgive us they dont know what they do.,sometime is hard for us to forgive the person hate you .but if you pray for them God will change their hearts and maybe one day they will accept you and they will also accept jesus as their savier. bettychao
May 3, 8:06 PM
Carol Ann: The country is so divided right now, and even the people in government don’t always believe the doctors
May 3, 8:07 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Beautiful, Betty.
May 3, 8:07 PM
Ruth (Guest): Yes, by not following the “social distancing” rules in parks, those that ignored them wound up getting the parks closed to everyone in NYC. And because some people did not act responsibly, fines were placed on violators, first $500, and then $1000.
May 3, 8:07 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): just like some people who dont put faith in jesus and want him gettting killed on the cross like the cheif priests. bettychao
May 3, 8:08 PM
Blanca Villa: 100% agree Ruth. A few streets over from where I live people are protesting against our governor. They are not wearing masks and are just plain careless. I hope that they are not taking the virus home to loved ones.
May 3, 8:08 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): I think the roots of difficulty in obedience reside in pride, which is opposite to humility
May 3, 8:09 PM
Carol Ann: That is true. We are a very proud and stiff necked nation
May 3, 8:10 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): just like some person they only think about themself and not care about others that is very sins to jesus and his bible teachings.jesus say if you care and love and help eachother you do for me.bettychao
May 3, 8:11 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): Dear sr susan.this is bettychao.I did read you email and i remenber what to do and answer all the answer that you ask me.
May 3, 8:11 PM
Blanca Villa: And unfortunately that’s why this country has the highest reported covid19 related deaths and sick people.
May 3, 8:12 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): You are doing great Betty!
May 3, 8:13 PM
Ruth (Guest): Sometimes it is necessary to OBEY AND protest. Simultaneously. That is so if “authority” is being unreasonable but not immoral, or if authority — like for instance, some of our Bishops — is acting out of fear or some other less noble motive — instead of out of LOVE, CARING, concern for the ETERNAL SALVATION of the sick and dying.
May 3, 8:13 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): That is interesting Ruth never thought of that
May 3, 8:13 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): we must pray to the chapled of divine mercy of jesus and ask him forgive our sins that we make and do so he will help us and take away the virus of the world. mom say only divine mercy jesus can do and can help just pray
May 3, 8:14 PM
Carol Ann: Thats right Betty, and Mother Mary will help us through the Rosary too
May 3, 8:15 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): i hear the news from the interenet that 3 senior catholic sisters nuns got catch the virus and die i am so upset and I ask the lord let them rest in peace in his kingdom.bettychao
May 3, 8:18 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): when my mom vivian chao join the putagory of holy mother mary meetting .when she visit some senoir catholic people they die my mom and her church friend go to the grave and funeral and pray for them with holy rosary.
May 3, 8:18 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: That’s beautiful Betty
May 3, 8:19 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): It’s obvious that we should obey our superiors. It’s also good to obey our equals, such as married partners. But when is it prudent to disobey someone equal or inferior to us?
May 3, 8:19 PM
Carol Ann: When they ask us to do something we know is wrong
May 3, 8:19 PM
Ruth (Guest): Of course! I strongly suspect that certain priests in this diocese, God bless them!, are PRUDENTLY AND RESPONSIBLY, NOT following the blanket regulation to stay at home because dying parishioners NEED Extreme Unction. And some are finding ways to keep social distancing AND continue offering the Sacrament of Penance, and even offering “Parking Lot Adorartion of the Blessed Sacrament” — with the audio of shared prayers and reflections sent to parishoners through their car radios!
May 3, 8:19 PM
Michelle Pasko Olivier: Whenever someone asks us to do something immoral or unethical we should not obey
May 3, 8:20 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): sister susan marie. i didnt see any questions from the sister susan marie. where is she?

Michelle Pasko Olivier: Hopefully it will be fixed and we can join in the novena
May 3, 8:25 PM
Ruth (Guest): It certainly makes a difference what we are asked to do, by whom, and to what end. We should not disobey legitimate authority just because we do not like what they are asking us to do, but “authority” loses it’s legitimacy when it becomes abusive.

May 3, 8:28 PM
Guest7584 (Guest): Yes that is the passage of the Visitation Betty
May 3, 8:28 PM
Ruth (Guest): Purity of intention: I think we should all STRIVE for that — for single-mindedness in serving God. However, if we think we are getting really close to complete “purity of intention” chances are we are fooling ourselves in one way or another.
May 3, 8:29 PM
Guest9906 (Guest): say humbled to the lord,. jesus give mary to us is teach us learn from mary how to humbled theyself to the lord.

Let us bring him/her now, and in the week ahead, to our Lord to be h
