The nuns of the monastery of the Visitation tell extraordinary stories. In particular, it was Sister Teresa Bourgeat who was the “chosen one” by the angelic messages
We find the presence of the guardian angel in the life story of the venerable Mother Chappuis, known as Mary de Sales Chappuis, who died in the odor of holiness in the monastery of the Visitation in Troyes (France) in 1875.
Here are some fragments of the history written by the nuns of that monastery concerning the relationship of the venerable with the celestial spirits:
“When our Mother arrived in Troyes, Sister Teresa Bourgeat was superior in that city of a house of the Daughters of St. Vincent de Paul. She was attracted to our mother; their souls understood each other, they were bound by a close friendship and, according to the testimony of Sister Teresa, they were in continuous relationships through the intermediation of their good angels. The one of our venerable mother took care of sending Sister Teresa to her when she needed her and fulfilled the commission so faithfully that, very soon, she was seen arriving at the parlor where she was expected; and our mother told her smiling the reason for her call ”.
An inner impulse
More often that call was transmitted by the angel under the guise of an inner impulse about which Sister Teresa could not be mistaken, and which she had no qualms about resisting.
Sometimes that impulse, that sweet obsession, became almost sensitive, witnessing the following fact of a characteristic simplicity.
Jams for the sick
One day when Sister Teresa was making jams for the poor sick, the nun who helped her in that work heard her say:
“In due time, please, let me finish, just a moment longer”. “But mother, said the nun present, who are you talking to like this?”. “To the good angel of Mother Mary de Sales (Chappuis) who won’t let me rest until I go to the Visitation”. And she went there promptly.
“Ah, here you are finally”, says our mother seeing her arrive. When Sister Teresa was aware of the fairly important matter in question, “it is therefore for this reason, she said, that your good angel pushed me so hard. We have these details – the nuns add – from Sister Clementina, companion of Sister Teresa (Report, p. 72).
The nuns themselves prayed to the good angel of the venerable mother and she went to the indication of her good angel. In 1844, she attested that she had seen the exterminating angel pass over Paris and in fact shortly after the riots of 1848 began.
