October is the Month of the Holy Rosary. Here is how St Francis de Sales taught us to pray it.
“You will take your rosary by the cross, which you will kiss after signing yourselves, and you will place yourself in the presence of God, saying the entire Creed.
On the first large Bead you will invoke God, asking him to accept your service that you want to render to him and to assist you with his grace to speak it well.
On the first three small beads you will ask the intercession of the sacred Virgin greeting her, at the first, as the dearest daughter of God the Father; to the second, as Mother of God the Son; and the third, as the beloved Bride of God the Holy Spirit.
On each ten you will think of one of the mysteries of the Rosary according to the leisure which you will have, remembering that which you will propose to yourself, mainly by pronouncing the very holy names of Mary and Jesus (…)
At the Bead that is at the end of the last ten, you will thank God for the grace he has given you for allowing you to say it. And moving on to the three little beads that follow, you will greet the sacred Virgin Mary, begging her, at the first, to offer your understanding to the Eternal Father, so that you may forever consider his mercies; at the second, you will beg her to offer your memory to the Son, to have her Death and Passion continually in your mind; at the third, you will beg her to offer your will to the Holy Spirit, so that you can forever be inflamed with her sacred love.
At the Bead which is at the end, you will beg the divine Majesty to accept everything to his glory and for the good of his Church, to the bosom of which you will beg her to keep you and bring back all those who are misguided. , and pray to God for all your friends, ending as you started, with the profession of faith, saying the Creed and making the sign of the Cross.
You will wear the rosary on your belt or in another obvious place, as a holy mark by which you want to protest that you wish to be a servant of God our Savior, and of his most sacred Bride, Virgin and Mother, and to live as a true child. of the Holy Catholic, Apostolic and Roman Church. “
