All life has its share, greater or lesser, of trials. No one is spared. If for some this arouses anger and bitterness, for others it is the occasion to become more intimately associated with the reality of the Cross and to discover the grace of forgiveness. It is certainly not easy because it is contrary to our purely human reflexes, but it is nevertheless the way that the Lord taught us. In this month when our dead are particularly honored, let us also make this effort for the salvation of their souls as our Sister Marie of the Sacred Heart invites us!

as a reminder: this October 28, 195th anniversary of the birth of Sister Marie du Sacré Cœur Bernaud, founder of the Guard of Honor and November 1, anniversary of her Baptism.

To be the host of Jesus

No longer able to suffer after Calvary, because once risen, Christ no longer dies, Jesus incarnated again in the Eucharistic Host to continue, until the end of the centuries, his function of Priest by immolating himself on our altars.
Being our supreme leader, and we his members, it happens that what he can no longer suffer in himself, he can suffer in his mystical members. This is why St Paul exhorts all Christians to make of their body a host which completes in their flesh what is lacking in the Passion of our Lord. Jesus left us a portion of his chalice. Will we refuse to accept Him and reject all the crosses He presents to us?

Nowadays, doubtless more than ever, so much the world is dark in the darkness of sins, Jesus needs hosts, victims of love, souls ready to immolate themselves to complete what is lacking in his Passion. The honor guards have this role to play. For Jesus, we are his hosts as he was the Host of his Father.

Also during this month, the supernatural effects of our immolation, patiently accepting our crosses and all our trials, will effectively reach the souls in Purgatory. How eagerly do they not wait this month to be especially rescued! Let us not deceive their expectations, let Jesus take care of applying to them the merit of our reparations, our sufferings, our tears, our humble sacrifices and by these means hasten their eternal happiness … in view of our own!
