Saint Francis de Sales , preaching in Paris on the day of Epiphany, took as the subject of his speech the majesty of the nascent Church. He called this festival one day of vocation, of offering, of light and love; he wanted each day of communion to be a day of Epiphany for us ; “For,” said he, “you must, after having received the Holy Eucharist , pay homage to your king, and renew your oath of fidelity. ” Source: Compendium of the True Spirit of St. Francis de Sales: Volume 2
