A foundation and a world center for Saint Francis de Sales
At the dawn of the 17th century, Saint François de Sales (1567-1622) acquired the castle of Thorens-Glières.
Isabelle de Roussy de Sales, direct descendant of the brother of Saint François de Sales, and her husband announce the launch of the “International Foundation Saint-François-de-Sales Héritage Salesien”. It will aim to disseminate as widely as possible the writings and thought of this illustrious figure of Catholicism. According to a press release, this foundation should “nourish the future Saint-François-de-Sales world center, which will be established on the family lands of its birth in Thorens.”
The administrative creation of the foundation (recognized as being of public utility) was recorded in the Official Journal of Associations and Foundations of November 23, 2020.
Isabelle de Roussy de Sales, great-niece of the Doctor of the Church and founder of the Order of the Visitation with Jeanne de Chantal, is president of this foundation. The Saint-François-de-Sales world center would include, among other things, a large Saint-François-de-Sales museum where scenes would retrace the history of the saint’s life, in the midst of personal objects that had belonged to him. . “We will now communicate in order to encourage donations and collect all types of grants, public or private contributions that will allow us to finance all of the foundation’s projects,” indicates Isabelle de Roussy de Sales Work is expected to start in 2021.
