Memento of the month

1st Friday of the month of June 1674: Our Lord Jesus Christ unveiling his Sacred Heart, during what is called the “2nd great apparition”, asks Saint Marguerite-Marie (nun of the Visitation of Paray-le -Monial) the reparative communion of the 1st Friday of each month and the Holy Hour. These two practices are dear to the devotees of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in particular to the Guardians of Honor, and to many communities of the Order of the Visitation.

June 6, 1610: (Solemnity of the Holy Trinity) Sainte Jeanne de Chantal, Marie-jacqueline Favre, Jeanne-Charlotte de Bréchard, accompanied by Anne-Jacqueline Coste, shut themselves up in the little “house of the Gallery” to attend to the perfection of divine love. This is the birth of the Order of the Visitation.

June 6, 1611: Saint Jeanne de Chantal, Sister Marie-Jacqueline Favre and Sister Jeanne-Charlotte de Bréchard make their oblation in the hands of Saint François de Sales.

June 9, 1849: Entry into the Monastery of the Visitation of Bourg-en-Bresse of Sister Marie du Sacré-Cœur Bernaud, future founder of the Guard of Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She will begin her postulancy at the end of the following month.

June 10, 1611: Saint Francis de Sales informs Saint Joan of Chantal of the intuition he received during the night, of what will be the coat of arms of the Order of the Visitation and its motto: “Long live Jesus!” ”

June 11, 1899: Pope Leo ⅩⅠⅠⅠ consecrates Humanity to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

June 16, 1793: Birth in Soyhières (Swiss Jura) of the Venerable Mother Marie de Sales Chappuis, Religious of the Visitation (Monasteries of Friborg, Paris, Troyes).

June 16, 1875: Laying of the first stone of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre.

June 16, 1941: Death of the Servant of God Sister Françoise-Thérèse (Léonie Martin), at the monastery of the Visitation of Caen, whose beatification process is underway.

Between June 13 and 20, 1675: “3rd great apparition” – Jesus discovers his Heart to Saint Marguerite-Marie and says these words to her: “Here is this Heart which has loved men so much…”

June 20, 1671: Entry of Saint Marguerite-Marie to the monastery of the Visitation of Paray-le-Monial.

June 21, 1686: The image of the Sacred Heart is venerated for the first time by the Community of the Visitation of Paray-le-Monial.
