Discuss your relationship with your guardian angel. Do you have a regular devotion, are you in need of kindling a relationship? Why do you think God has assigned us angels? Does it seem superfluous if we have the Holy Spirit? Who do you think St. Francis is referring to when he says, “these dear, small lambs”? Might it be the sisters under the care of St. Jane Frances? What does this say about the lambs that we are caring for? Have you told the Lord today that you love Him? What does it mean to crucify our

 spirit?
How can we make it more of a natural inclination to long for the Lord and His will?

Adrianna (Guest): I came upon it by accident and just went down the rabbit hole…here I am.

Aug 8, 7:20 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): We have been doing this for a number of years- glad it was a safe accident!

Aug 8, 7:20 PM

Adrianna (Guest): I do have deep Visitation connections so I was interested.

Aug 8, 7:21 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): So then you know it is St Jane”s Feast this coming Thursday\

Aug 8, 7:22 PM

Adrianna (Guest): Yes, she is very special in my life, as well as St. Margaret Mary.

Aug 8, 7:23 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): Wonderful! Last year was St Margaret Mary’s 100th anniversary of canonization, and in 2022 we celebrate St jane’s 450th anniversary of birth

Aug 8, 7:24 PM

Adrianna (Guest): I did not realized that St. Margaret Mary is such a “new” saint.

Aug 8, 7:25 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): She was beatified in the mid 1800″s I think- and then canonized 1920 It took a while I guess

Aug 8, 7:27 PM

Adrianna (Guest): The first picture I saw of Jesus was of the Sacred Heart.

Aug 8, 7:27 PM

Adrianna (Guest): I guess I was 2 or 3.

Aug 8, 7:28 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): That is amazing actually. What an impression He made on your soul

Aug 8, 7:28 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): To remember that

Aug 8, 7:29 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): We have a novice here who also met the Sacred Heart of Jesus in statue form as a child and she never forgot either

Aug 8, 7:29 PM

Adrianna (Guest): I did not realize at the time, but we always sat in a certain pew at church when I was very small and it was only years later that I looked up while visiting the church as saw that it was a stain glass window of St. Margaret Mary!!

Aug 8, 7:30 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): I can see why you know or connect to the Visitation

Aug 8, 7:30 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): welcome viewer

Aug 8, 7:30 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): Hi Elena!

PM

Elena (Guest): I only just started actively praying to my guardian angel last year, after hearing a good homily on the topic. I’ve been relying on my angel for things like protection and nudges , but I would like to be more attentive to that relationship. In particular, asking my angel to help me in prayer and with certain spiritual struggles I have.

Aug 8, 7:36 PM

PM

Ruth (Guest): I used to think that my guardian angel took way too many holidays and vacations.

Aug 8, 7:38 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): I am not consistent but my angel has helped me in what for me seem extraordinary ways. I need to be more faithful

Aug 8, 7:38 PM

Adrianna (Guest): I talk to my angel alot!!

M

Sr Susan (Guest): One time I really needed to talk to a particular priest and I sent my angel, mentally, to him and a day or so later the priest called I was not in any type of regular communication with this priest either

:40 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): Yes I believe so

Aug 8, 7:40 PM

Simone (Guest): I must confess.. faith in personal angels is a bit of a white patch in my Catholic Spirituality

Aug 8, 7:40 PM

Adrianna (Guest): My angel has protected me from danger.

Aug 8, 7:40 PM

Elena (Guest): How beautiful. Thank you for sharing that story, Sister.

Aug 8, 7:40 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): That’s sort of close to what happened for me in a serious situation

1 PM

Adrianna (Guest): My angel actually pushed me out of danger.

Aug 8, 7:41 PM

Elena (Guest): I’m pretty sure I keep my angel on the run with a lot of saving me from danger. ha

Aug 8, 7:41 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): How Adrianna?

Aug 8, 7:41 PM

Simone (Guest): my father in law -not a Catholic -heard a voice in the car saying ” Doug slow down” – and he just reached the top of a hill. and he could not see that there was an accident right after the top.. he would have fully crashed into it

Aug 8, 7:41 PM

Elena (Guest): Adrianna, would you be willing to tell that story?

Aug 8, 7:41 PM

Simone (Guest): yes Adrianna

42 PM

Adrianna (Guest): Sure

Aug 8, 7:42 PM

Elena (Guest): wow, Simone! That’s amazing. God is so good to us.

3 PM

Ruth (Guest): Now, somehow, by the grace of God, I think my Guardian angel has done an amazing job of keeping me alive, at the very least, and helping me to keep on seeking the Truth and seeking to serve God as best I can, but I often don’t give my guardian angel credit, or even bother to talk with her/him. I am much more comfortable with the Saints, because I can better understand their “minds.”

Adrianna (Guest): I used to own a horse named Gabriel after the Angel…and one day I was walking him out of the barn and he stepped on a sharp rock and reared up and his hoof was about to strike my jaw with great force and my angel literally pushed me out of the way and I fell backwards. I felt his hoof just graze my cheek like a feather.

Aug 8, 7:44 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): That is beautiful!

PM

Elena (Guest): Adrianna, wow!Angels are a bit terrifying, TBH. The way they’re described in the Bible is intense. They aren’t sweet faerie looking beings with feathered wings. 45 PM

Adrianna (Guest): They are powerful no nonsense beings doing their job for God.

Aug 8, 7:45 PM

Simone (Guest): Thanks for sharing Adrianna

Aug 8, 7:46 PM

Simone (Guest): So.. the main”job” of an angel is to protect my physical life? I am sorry. I hardly ever had teaching on this

Aug 8, 7:47 PM

Adrianna (Guest): Say the guardian angel prayer, what are the words….

Aug 8, 7:47 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): I also had an interesting “fall”. I was on my way in Jersey City to my spiritual director, back in the late 80’s, to tell him I decided to enter the Visitation As I was walking down the street I fell over nothing but when I landed the sidewalk felt like a pillow, so soft I figured it was my angel

Aug 8, 7:48 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): Angel of Guardian , guardian dear to whom God’s love commits here ever this day be at my side to light and guard to rule and guide Amen.\

Aug 8, 7:48 PM

Elena (Guest): Did you take that as an affirmation of your vocation?

8 PM

Elena (Guest): Did you take that as an affirmation of your vocation?

Aug 8, 7:49 PM

Elena (Guest): I say that prayer every morning, now.

Aug 8, 7:49 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): Yes one of the affirmations My director also confirmed the choice

Aug 8, 7:50 PM

Elena (Guest): I love how God uses things that would be deemed as loss to give us something huge.

Aug 8, 7:50 PM

Simone (Guest): So.. was that an angel then? Back in early 2000’s my husband wrote a church – if they would take him on staff.. while he was writing he heard an audible voice saying ” Write this other church first”. My husband thought first.. well. I just ignore that. but got so convicted in his heart about disobedience that he did write the other church – he still has the half finished letter filed. Because of this “other church” we befriended a Catholic priest – who ushered us with his prayers into the Catholic Church

Aug 8, 7:50 PM

Ruth (Guest): The one time I literally heard a voice say something that turned out to be very important toward helping keep me hopeful despite a dismal prognosis, I told my former pastor who is also my designated health care proxy about the incident. I was completely surprised by his response. But it made sense scientifically.

Aug 8, 7:50 PM

Elena (Guest): Trying to wrap my brain around that one, actually. I should be asking my guardian angel’s help with that. It’s pretty big stuff.

 PM

Elena (Guest): These stories are all such incredible witnesses to God’s love. I also believe that our angels worship with us and help us to glorify God with our lives as part of their own adoration of Him. I don’t know if I explained that well…

Aug 8, 7:52 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): I am sure others in heaven could also communicate somehow with us when God so allows

Q: Why do you think God has assigned us angels? Does it seem superfluous if we have the Holy Spirit?

Aug 8, 7:53 PM

Elena (Guest): I love this question because I get confused on this a little. Like, who do I thank in the moment when something is found or goes my way or I’m saved from some minor or major catastrophe.

4 PM

Adrianna (Guest): Thank God first angel second

Aug 8, 7:54 PM

Elena (Guest): Simone — I agree! I do the same thing. They are worshipping and glorifying God at the eternal Banquet with us.

Aug 8, 7:54 PM

Simone (Guest): It seems – from what I read here mostly in the testimonies.. that you somewhat “know” when an angel steps up in your life

:54 PM

Elena (Guest): Always thank God first. Good point, Adrianna. M

Ruth (Guest): Sr. For me, that would’ve been my fat padding.

Aug 8, 7:54 PM

Adrianna (Guest): Oh you do know it…it is usually quite clear.

Aug 8, 7:55 PM

Aug 8, 7:58 PM

Simone (Guest): I once got totally lost on a beach in Spain. I was about 8 years old. A strange man took my hand and lead me back to the place where my parents were. When my Dad wanted to thank me – he was gone

Aug 8, 7:58 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): The Holy Spirit is God and 3rd person of the Trinity while Angels are created spirits by God so I think there are different roles for them

PM

Carol (Guest): Thank you Sr Susan

Aug 8, 7:59 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): yes choirs of angels

Aug 8, 8:00 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): I am not sure how this was discovered or revealed tho

Aug 8, 8:00 PM

Ruth (Guest): Yes, Carol. Hmmm, Adrianna: Seen a spirit? Maybe the way we can “see” the wind, by the effects it/they have on us and on natural objects in the environment.

0 PM

Simone (Guest): So – what would you all recommend for me to develop my relationship with my angel? M

Elena (Guest): I think God has assigned us angels for them to share in God’s love for us… not that he needs the help, but the same way God wants us to pray to participate in his plan of redemption.

Aug 8, 8:00 PM

Carol (Guest): There are so many stories of actual sightings though

1 PM

Carol (Guest): Simone, I would just greet him and ask him to stay near

Aug 8, 8:01 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): Maybe start with gratitude or thsnksgiving for the angels presence with you

Aug 8, 8:01 PM

Adrianna (Guest): Just talk to your angel, like we are now.

PM

Simone (Guest): I think I will do that. I feel comfortable thanking GOD for the presence of angels and I feel comfortable starting to talk.

Aug 8, 8:03 PM

Adrianna (Guest): I guess they may be assigned at conception?

Aug 8, 8:04 PM

Elena (Guest): I’ve hear that, yes, Adrianna. Fr. Ripperger gave a homily on guardian angels that I heard on YouTube.

Aug 8, 8:04 PM

Ruth (Guest): Usually we use a person’s NAME when we greet them; so why this business about not asking one’s guardian angel the angel’s name, or giving the angel one, just so that we can converse “normally” with our guardian angels?

Aug 8, 8:04 PM

Elena (Guest): I wonder that too, Ruth.

Aug 8, 8:05 PM

Elena (Guest): I’m sure there’s some spiritual principle behind that.

Aug 8, 8:05 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): and gentleness is the best approach 8:12 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): St Francis said : But what are we to give these dear, small lambs? Love itself, for either they live on love or do not live at all: there is no middle course between death and love for them; they must either die or else love, for ‘he that loveth not’ says St. John ‘abideth in death’.

Aug 8, 8:12 PM

Ruth (Guest): Elena, I like that explanation; couldn’t pronounce their names. As for higher being. So is God, and I understand the Jewish notion of NOT speaking God’s name or even writing “G_d” — still, as New Testament people we have a clearer sense of God’s immanence, not just his transcendence and OTHERness, distance. He’s a loving Daddy, “Abba,” Not a King of Siam type that we JUST formally bow down to. Our Daddy-God willingly takes his children on his lap and plays innocent games with us.

Aug 8, 8:16 PM

Aug 8, 8:16 PM

Ruth (Guest): Interestingly, in the Garden of Olives, when Jesus suffered in anticipation of the Crucifixion, He spoke with his Father. The Father sent him an angel to comfort and strengthen him. Jesus did not address himself to his angel.

Aug 8, 8:16 PM

Ruth (Guest): Yes, today’s reading: “Get up and eat!” to the nearly suicidally depressed prophet. 2 PM

Elena (Guest): I say “I love You” to Jesus a lot. I know that I also need to remember “Jesus I trust in You” as the ultimate “I love You.”

Aug 8, 8:22 PM

Simone (Guest): I have not specifically told the Lord today that I love Him, but I hope when he has watched me today, that this would be his conclusion

PM

Simone (Guest): There is power though in saying ” I love you” to the Lord in prayer

Aug 8, 8:22 PM

Adrianna (Guest): I love you is the simplest prayer.

Aug 8, 8:22 PM

Elena (Guest): Crucifying our spirit, as we’ve commented in other chats, is obedience and humility to the little things as well as the big things.

Aug 8, 8:22 PM

Carol (Guest): I also like to tell Him I live you too

3 PM

Ruth (Guest): Good thought, Simone.

Aug 8, 8:23 PM

Carol (Guest): Abandoning ourselves to Him in every moment so we no longer even think if ourselves

PM

Elena (Guest): How can we make it more of a natural inclination to long for the Lord and His will? This is a lifelong pursuit, I think. I am still pushing or pulling in my own direction more than I would like.

Aug 8, 8:23 PM

Simone (Guest): I find my love for GOD so inadequate – compared to His love for me – that I do not even want to mention it. But I think, that it is powerful.

:24 PM

Elena (Guest): Simone — yes I agree!

Aug 8, 8:24 PM

Sr Susan (Guest): I feel similarly

Aug 8, 8:24 PM

Elena (Guest): I mean, that my love is so inadequate. THat was my thought this morning during Mass.

Adrianna (Guest): We are frail humans, but we are given the graces to soldier on.

Aug 8, 8:25 PM

Ruth (Guest): When I say, “I love you” often to our Triune God, I am constantly reminded to add: “And I believe that YOU love me” — even if I do not feel that LOVE.

Aug 8, 8:25 PM

Simone (Guest): In the rare moments when I could sense that His will and mine somehow fused – I felt an indescribable happiness..

 PM

Carol (Guest): Yes Simone 26 PM

Simone (Guest): oh Ruth.. that is beautiful – it is so hard – in times of spiritual darkness – to stand in faith – and receive His love 6 PM

Adrianna (Guest): When I am in His will I feel at peace.

Aug 8, 8:27 PM

Simone (Guest): not sure if spiritual darkness is the right word Ruth..

 PM

Elena (Guest): One of the Sacred Heart ejaculations is “Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Your love for me.” That one is very special to me.
