Merciful Father,

36 PM

SrSusan (Guest): 1st q: How can we have a greater hunger for the Eucharist? On days when we cannot make it to daily Mass (or even a Sunday Mass), how can we still maintain a devotion to the Eucharist?

Jan 23, 7:36 PM

Elena (Guest): I will be going to the Visitation in Tyringham, MA hopefully in the next couple of months. I pass by there on the Turnpike when I visit my family near Boston.

Jan 23, 7:36 PM

Carol (Guest): I will have to come back and pray with you

Jan 23, 7:36 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Wonderful!

Jan 23, 7:37 PM

Elena (Guest): One bright spot from the pandemic is the plethora of live Adoration channels on YouTube. I have a couple favorites that I go to.

Jan 23, 7:37 PM

Elena (Guest): It’s one way to remember that we are in His presence, and to adore Him.

Jan 23, 7:37 PM

Carol (Guest): I try always to remember who i am at Mass to see, knowing He is a person, not an idea

Jan 23, 7:38 PM

Carol (Guest): Me too Elena

, 7:39 PM

Elena (Guest): Carol — what you said about Mass being about a Person, not an idea… that’s so important to our faith life. 39 PM

Elena (Guest): I also think that regular confession helps us to want Holy Communion and be drawn to the Blessed Sacrament.

Jan 23, 7:39 PM

SrSusan (Guest): True and it would help in evangelizing if we speak about Our Lord this way

40 PM

Carol (Guest): In our Parish study we have just started reading Tom Curran’s book on the Mass, Seems most people have forgotten Jeeus is an actual person

Jan 23, 7:40 PM

Elena (Guest): Yes! Christianity isn’t just about being “nice” and even the charity that we are called to do must come from our worship, not to make ourselves feel good or look good.

Jan 23, 7:40 PM

SrSusan (Guest): I remember it was a friends deep devotion to the Eucharist that helped me grow in faith

, 7:41 PM

Elena (Guest): THat’s beautiful, Sister. 41 PM

Elena (Guest): Since last summer, I have been trying to spend time with the Blessed Sacrament every day, even if only for 15 minutes on those busy days. He wants me to spend time in His presence.

Jan 23, 7:41 PM

Carol (Guest): When I go up to receive I like to think He is standing behind the priest or minister

Jan 23, 7:42 PM

SrSusan (Guest): I found this out when I was in the infirmary that I would have a hard time now if the Real presence was not nearby. Years go I would not have felt this way.

42 PM

Elena (Guest): Wow, He really has led you deeper into his Eucharistic Heart, Sister! , 7:43 PM

Elena (Guest): I desire more than anything in the world to live under the same roof as the Blessed Sacrament.

Jan 23, 7:43 PM

SrSusan (Guest): That sounds like a vocation

 PM

Elena (Guest): For now I am hindered by debt.

Jan 23, 7:43 PM

Carol (Guest): I wish I could too!

Jan 23, 7:43 PM

Elena (Guest): I’m sure many people do… He draws us!

Jan 23, 7:44 PM

Carol (Guest): And age for me, at least for monastic

Jan 23, 7:44 PM

Elena (Guest): I thought the Visitation takes older vocations..?

Jan 23, 7:44 PM

SrSusan (Guest): In your congregation Carol as domestic do you think they will ever allow you to have Jesus in your home

Jan 23, 7:44 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Yes we are supposed to but if communities are already too elderly thay are cautious

Jan 23, 7:44 PM

Elena (Guest): Ahhh that makes sense.

Jan 23, 7:44 PM

Carol (Guest): I don’t know. I believe one person might, but he is a descon  PM

SrSusan (Guest): q2 Discuss the concept of “digesting Jesus Christ spiritually  PM

Elena (Guest): I know from the last few years of discernment that there are MANY of us women out here, longing for a consecrated life with the Blessed Sacrament in our midst. yet there seems to be nothing for us, exactly. It’s something I wonder about, if the Lord will do something unique and new with us, eventually.

Jan 23, 7:46 PM

Carol (Guest): There are many new communities like mine, but its like you have to find them by word of mouth

, 7:49 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Maybe the Lord will raise up a holy soul for this purpose

M

Elena (Guest): “digesting Christ spiritually” I like the image St. Francis uses of food that goes to all the parts of the body to strengthen the entire organism. I think we can also invite the Lord to enter into our hearts, minds, spirits, and allow him “access” by inviting Him.

Jan 23, 7:49 PM

Elena (Guest): Sister Susan… I am praying for this, actually.

9 PM

Elena (Guest): Sister Susan… I am praying for this, actually. PM

Carol (Guest): It seems that many newer ones are more charismatic in nature

Jan 23, 7:50 PM

SrSusan (Guest): The deep spiritual writers say we are to become Christ

7:51 PM

Carol (Guest): If we let Jesus we can become all flame

Jan 23, 7:52 PM

Elena (Guest): There is a lot of purification… in me, anyways!! This is His work. I am powerless other than to invite Him as Sovereign of my being. And to THANK Him for my being, and for redeeming me.

Jan 23, 7:53 PM

Elena (Guest): Yes, St. Paul, right? I long for that transformation.

Jan 23, 7:53 PM

Carol (Guest): That was a paraphrase if Abba Joseph, an early desert father

n 23, 7:54 PM

SrSusan (Guest): The desert fathers were so profound

 PM

Elena (Guest): It reminds me of St. Catherine of Siena: If we become who we were meant to be, we will set the world afire. (I’m paraphrasing, too).

Jan 23, 7:55 PM

Carol (Guest): Yes, and our founder has studied them extensively

:55 PM

Carol (Guest): Oh, she is one of my favorites

Jan 23, 7:55 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Do you cover them in formation

:56 PM

Carol (Guest): Yes, selected writings of the Fathers are.

Jan 23, 7:56 PM

Elena (Guest): How wonderful!

SrSusan (Guest): q3.”St. Francis talks about Jesus straightening things out in us with the Eucharist. And yet, “we must be content to get there gradually.”

Jan 23, 7:57 PM

Carol (Guest): I suspect that I will want to read more

Jan 23, 7:57 PM

SrSusan (Guest): .” Does it seem that St. Jane de Chantal is too impatient in desiring spiritual progress?

M

Carol (Guest): He will transform us, but only as fast as we can stretch and accept

Jan 23, 7:58 PM

Elena (Guest): I’m reading a biography of St. Jane de Chantal now, written by Elisabeth Stopp. The next question reminds me of what I’ve been reading about her – her impatience. This is a quality I share with her, so I’m praying for her intercession. To let God do in us what he wants to do… and to surrender the entire process to Him rather than be frustrated at ourselves for not “getting there”

SrSusan (Guest): Elena I just finished reading that book this week!

Jan 23, 7:58 PM

Elena (Guest): Sorry I should be writing in the singular… letting God do in me what he wants.

:58 PM

Elena (Guest): Sister, given you have read and know a lot more about her than I do, how do you think this book rates?

Jan 23, 7:59 PM

Carol (Guest): I am in the same boat

Jan 23, 7:59 PM

SrSusan (Guest): As I get older and dont see progress and maybe even slippage I do get anxious a little

Jan 23, 7:59 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Great book Elena Another one is Andre Ravier’s but it is simpler

00 PM

Elena (Guest): My spiritual director tells me that’s the enemy’s lie…. that I should be “better” and that I’m displeasing to God, which then makes me rely on myself rather than God. 00 PM

SrSusan (Guest): I think I fall into thatn 23, 8:00 PM

Carol (Guest): Me too8:01 PM

Elena (Guest): Oh thank you for the tip. I’m glad you think so, Sister, because I am really impressed with the presentation of her as a real person, not floating up to heaven from the age of 15 haha:01 PM

SrSusan (Guest): She really grew in her spiritual life

Jan 23, 8:02 PM

Elena (Guest): I suppose we probably all do in some way. We live in a culture that prizes self-reliance. “God helps those who help themselves” I think that’s a puritan thing. 02 PM

Elena (Guest): She clearly did.. I’ve adopted her as my “Holy Mother” with Our Lady as my “Abbess.”

Jan 23, 8:02 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Christ grows in us like the dawn, sometimes, slowly but surely

 8:02 PM

Carol (Guest): It could be. The Puritans seemed to have a different take on things

Jan 23, 8:03 PM

Elena (Guest): I love that image! Christ grows in us like the dawn.

 8:03 PM

Carol (Guest): It makes me smile to think of it Sister4 PM

SrSusan (Guest): It is St jane’s 450th birthday today-

Jan 23, 8:04 PM

Elena (Guest): Yes!!!!

Jan 23, 8:04 PM

Elena (Guest): Happy Birthday, St. Jane.

Jan 23, 8:04 PM

Carol (Guest): Happy Birthday!

Jan 23, 8:04 PM

SrSusan (Guest): We sang to her but I am sure she would prefer if we lived the life here better 8 PM

SrSusan (Guest): q4What does it really mean that “Christ lives in us?” Is He simply taking up residence as in an apartment?

PM

Elena (Guest): I’m sure she is praying for each of you, and that your love for Our Lord is what pleases her.

09 PM

Elena (Guest): This is a funny question!

Jan 23, 8:09 PM

Carol (Guest): In a way, yes. His transformation of me makes me think He is rearranging my mental furniture.

Jan 23, 8:09 PM

Elena (Guest): I think we have to give Christ to others in order for Him to fully live in us.

Jan 23, 8:10 PM

Elena (Guest): Haha Carol – love it! He’s definitely doing some massive redecorating in my heart, thanks be to God.

Jan 23, 8:10 PM

Jan 23, 8:11 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Some poetic prayers for Christian unity week spoke of a manger in our heart! Why not an apartment?? smile

1 PM

Carol (Guest): He does it so often I started making jokes about tripping over the couch in the dark. That night I dreamed there was a new table with a kit Kamp in it :11 PM

Carol (Guest): Totally His sense of humor 8:14 PM

Elena (Guest): He’s hilarious. And He’s wild. To me, anyway, I can’t see him as the muted, tame guy from so many Jesus movies. He gives us what we need to be purified… and I swear sometimes I can feel him winking at me 15 PM

Elena (Guest): Oh Sister… don’t the postulants and novices all start with cleaning the refectory? That’s been my experience no matter what community I discerned with. It makes me smile, tho.

Jan 23, 8:15 PM

SrSusan (Guest): We are made in His image- how would we have humor if He does not?

23, 8:15 PM

Elena (Guest): Exactly!! 15 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Yes refectory is first job !!  PM

Elena (Guest): And I like to think the things I love – music, birds, the woods – are things HE loved first and then chose to share those with me.  8:16 PM

Carol (Guest): He winks at me too, when I notice little things He does for us all that no one else sees 16 PM

Elena (Guest): Hahaha! The funny thing is I like kitchen/cleaning duty. It’s my job here at the house I share with another woman who is also discerning. It’s my thing. n 23, 8:16 PM

Elena (Guest): Carol – that’s beautiful! :17 PM

SrSusan (Guest): last qWhat is the difference between God’s will in general and God’s will in particular?

8:20 PM

Carol (Guest): Gods will in general is that we all love Him and accept salvstion. In particular is what each one of use needs to do to get there

Jan 23, 8:20 PM

Elena (Guest): I’m guessing….? God’s will in general has to do with the redemption of mankind and our free will, and God’s will in particular has to do with the specific path he’s created for each one of us to get to heaven.

Jan 23, 8:21 PM

Elena (Guest): The school I teach for is St. John Bosco Schools. We are not diocesan or connected with a congregation, so we do not have the Blessed Sacrament at school. But we do have a chapel that is in renovation mode at the moment from “former cafeteria” to “dedicated chapel.”

Carol (Guest): Will you have a sacristan and a tabernacle?

Jan 23, 8:26 PM
