This symposium is part of the 4th Centenary of the death of Saint Francis de Sales. 1622-2022.

400 years after his death, these “Interviews of Saint Germain” will take place in Talloires between the Abbey which once preoccupied François de Sales and the Hermitage which he envisaged as a privileged place for a studious and contemplative retreat. We will underline a Salesian and Talloirian anchorage which anticipates a dialogue between Brother Germain and Brother François.

The “Interviews of Saint Germain” will evoke 400 years of Salesian development and revival: this colloquium proposes to revive the memory of the saint and the posterity of his thought.

Several speakers will take us a step from 1622 to today while tracing a face of François de Sales “Frescoist & Writer”.

The universe of François de Sales which we are going to talk about is very beautiful and his letters are very ardent.

We will approach François de Sales, a great fresco artist with his pen in his hand, which looks like a paintbrush. Very skilful brush to paint the Church and also the world, like gardens variegated with infinite flowers… which mix the colors! “There must therefore be of various sizes, of various colors, of various odors, and, in short, of different perfections. »

We will favor three formats of speeches for the progress of the debates: conferences and a round table, an audiovisual medium! (Film: “1622, by dint of loving, François de Sales”)

Fresco painter: François de Sales is skilled in the use of color. He also has a colorful paste on his palette, mixes various adjusted colors or quarrels endlessly to bring color to life. Whether embellishing, telling a story, tracing images and portraits and highlighting a gospel heritage.

Writer: Skilled in the art of writing and quite simply “a man of letters, the Bishop of Geneva handles the pen through books and letters, to the point of inventing a form of journalism that speaks to the times and publishes good news!
