“That God must be good…” Dear friends, It is a great joy for me to write to you for the first time as the new rector of the sanctuary. . In discovering this new mission, I give thanks to the Lord for all that Father Benoit Guédas has achieved here in recent years, as well as for the many people, employees and volunteers, with whom I am at the service of pilgrims.
In December we will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the entry into eternal life of Saint Francis de Sales. The latter was renowned for his great gentleness, so much so that Saint Vincent de Paul said about him: That God must be good since Monsieur de Sales is so good.
Thus, one day, violently verbally attacked by an angry man, François refrained from reacting and humbly kept silent. To those who thought he should have corrected this insolent, he retorted: I made a treaty with myself never to speak when I feel angry. This gentleness bore fruit: touched by the charity of the saint, the man came back shortly afterwards, quite sheepish, to beg his forgiveness.
Also discover the program of the feasts of Saint Margaret Mary, from October 14 to 16. The saint testified thus to her spiritual encounter with Francis de Sales: once, looking at a painting by the great Saint Francis de Sales, he seemed to cast such a loving paternal gaze on me, calling me his daughter, that I regarded him as my good father.
Following his example, let us receive Saint Francis as a father, make our beautiful advice to abstain from speaking under the effect of anger, in order to be victorious over evil with good! I entrust myself to your prayer, so that the Holy Spirit may guide me and lead me here to the City of the Heart of Jesus.
