Since God is everywhere at all times, what does it mean to place yourself in His presence? In John 15:15, Jesus says, “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” If this is so and God is our Father, why is it acceptable to pray in a prostrate position and genuflect? Why is it helpful to have a reflection on the hideousness of the devil and the awfulness of the sins

Sr Susan (Guest): and vileness associated with him and his fallen angels? Doesn’t it seem like it would pollute the mind? How is our mere desire for Jesus a rejection of Satan? What does it mean that Jesus calls us by name? The beauty of Our Saviour and of the saints seems like such an easy choice. Why does St. Francis have us picture ourselves between heaven and hell until the end of our lives? Why is the choice difficult sometimes?

q 1 Since God is everywhere at all times, what does it mean to place yourself in His presence?

y 14, 7:23 PM

Barbara (Guest): In part, as best we can, to put our full attention on Him, aware of His Majesty and our filial relationship to Him

May 14, 7:24 PM

Bettychao (Guest): Through you baptism and 7 blessed sacrements

May 14, 7:24 PM

Paula (Guest): To remember that He is with you always and act like He is present

4, 7:25 PMBarbara (Guest): Interesting, Paula–When I think of putting myself in “His Presence,” I realize I see Him outside myself

May 14, 7:26 PMBarbara (Guest): Putting myself in His Presence makes me feel like I

7:26 PM

Barbara (Guest): I’m going into the Inner Court

May 14, 7:26 PM

Paula (Guest): I realize Him out of myself but walking with me as a companion

ay 14, 7:27 PMPaula (Guest): like on the road to Emmaus

y 14, 7:27 PM

Barbara (Guest): Interesting, too, I realize that even when I see Him as companion, I want & LOVE for Him to be Lord!

May 14, 7:27 PM

Ruth (Guest): Sr. Susan, last Sunday Chat was FULL, ten people, I think. I couldn’t get on. But I had a guest here and it might have been too much of a challenge for her. We went to St. Mary’s HS together, I for just the last two years — with my parents’ permission but not their approval.

May 14, 7:27 PM

Bettychao (Guest): Through the mass we getting touched to the lord and believe he is with us through mass

ay 14, 7:28 PMSrSusan (Guest): St Francis says we need to remember we are in God’s presence

4, 7:29 PM

Barbara (Guest): Sr, does St FdeS want us to remember that Presence as one of a friend?

May 14, 7:29 PM

Bettychao (Guest): We honor those saints because saints bring us to Jesus christ

May 14, 7:29 PM

SrSusan (Guest): I believe so Barbara

0 PMSrSusan (Guest): q2 In John 15:15, Jesus says, “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” If this is so and God is our Father, why is it acceptable to pray in a prostrate position and genuflect?

4, 7:31 PM

Paula (Guest): as a sign of our humility and respect

May 14, 7:31 PM

Barbara (Guest): For me, it’s not only acceptable, but it’s beneficial/nourishing to do so to remind ourselves and to show Him that “friends” or not, no way are we His equal

14, 7:32 PM

Bettychao (Guest): God our father sent his spirit to mary our mother and Jesus friends because Jesus bring the Holy Spirit from Heavenly Father to them and us

May 14, 7:34 PM

Paula (Guest): also a sign of our deep love of God….even a husband at times many kneel before his true love

May 14, 7:34 PM

Ruth (Guest): Good Bettychao.

May 14, 7:34 PM

SrSusan (Guest): We respect our friends and the greater they are the more respect. So now if we are talking about God our respect and adoration is the highest and we genuflect

14, 7:35 PMBarbara (Guest): Wow, Paula–is that why men take a knee when proposing marriage?

May 14, 7:35 PMBettychao (Guest): The Holy Spirit guide us to follow his rules that he want us to obey in our lives

14, 7:36 PM

Paula (Guest): you see it a lot on western shows

May 14, 7:36 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Honor thy Father and Mother

May 14, 7:36 PM

Ruth (Guest): Yes. It shows deep respect. I know a woman who became a Catholic after seeing an elderly man genuflect reverently to the Blessed Sacrament.

May 14, 7:36 PM

Lisa C (Guest): God is our Father

May 14, 7:36 PM

Barbara (Guest): So beautiful, Ruth!

May 14, 7:37 PM

Bettychao (Guest): Today I join the mass from the computer iPad scream the church clergy teach us about holy spirit

4, 7:38 PMRuth (Guest): She thought, there must be something really special there, and began questioning. she was in the otherwise empty church because she wanted to play an organ and had heard that there was one there.

14, 7:39 PMBarbara (Guest): Amazing Grace!

May 14, 7:40 PM

Barbara (Guest): So, when the Lord knelt to wash His disciples feet, He was showing respect…

May 14, 7:40 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Why is it helpful to have a reflection on the hideousness of the devil and the awfulness of the sins

and vileness associated with him and his fallen angels?

4, 7:41 PM

Bettychao (Guest): The lord do this action is teach us to love and respect eachother

May 14, 7:41 PM

Ruth (Guest): In the Liturgy of the Hours the Holy Spirit is referred to with PERSONAL pronouns. Today our Pastor kept using “it” to refer to the Holy Spirit. That disturbed me.

7:41 PMLisa C (Guest): We should be afraid of the devil, he lies and tries to trick us. If we know how bad he is we can better avoid his evil tricks.

, 7:41 PM

Lisa C (Guest): We should be afraid of the devil, he lies and tries to trick us. If we know how bad he is we can better avoid his evil tricks.

May 14, 7:42 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Ruth that would disturb me too

May 14, 7:43 PM

Bettychao (Guest): The Bible tell us why the angel lucifer disobey God and be come devil we can’t be like him we want obey the lord always

14, 7:43 PMBarbara (Guest): St FdeS’ technique of visualizing the grotesque nature of evil as a way of being “turned off” by it reminds me of a weight loss “Break the habit of eating something not good for you to eat” technique. First, imagine the grossest, most repulsive, nauseating vermin you can think of; next imagine the beautifully appealing food you are trying to refrain from eating; then imagine the vermin crawling all over the food, totally covering it; finally imagine yourself eating the vermin-covered food—You won’t!

14, 7:43 PM

Paula (Guest): To remind ourselves of how awful sin and satan is as we our often catch by the glamour of sin

May 14, 7:44 PM

Paula (Guest): *are

May 14, 7:44 PM

Barbara (Guest): I’m with you, Ruth!

4, 7:44 PMRuth (Guest): I feel it needs to be addressed, but who am I to say anything? His preaching has gotten distinctly better and clearly he TRIED to prepare well. He went through a stack of books, selected something that compared the Holy Spirit to electricity.

14, 7:45 PM

Ruth (Guest): The devil DIVIDES us. The Spirit of Christ makes us ONE body, the Body of Christ.

4, 7:46 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Ruth, you can ask why he said it and just say it confused you

May 14, 7:46 PM

Bettychao (Guest): We need to reject the satan and get back to Jesus Jesus want us with him

May 14, 7:46 PM

Barbara (Guest): What if you very respectfully told him that you were offended by hearing the Holy Spirit Who is a Person referred to as an object–an “It.”

7 online

4, 7:47 PMLisa C (Guest): Fr. Rippenger has videos on you tube about angels, including bad angels, and he discusses how they make decisions and help us or hurt us.

May 14, 7:47 PMBarbara (Guest): Lisa–Good idea– if Ruth says she was confused and asks why he referred to the Holy Spirit as he did–that’s better!

4, 7:47 PMPaula (Guest): The Holy Spirit can’t be an it. He is the love between the Father and the Son

y 14, 7:48 PMPaula (Guest): if Father and Son are He….then what is the Holy Spirit…..?

y 14, 7:48 PMLisa C (Guest): Fr. Rippinger is an exorcist

ay 14, 7:49 PMLisa C (Guest): I like his videos, especially how he talks about Guardian Angels

ay 14, 7:50 PM

Lisa C (Guest)https://youtu.be/8WMjnJmgpn4

May 14, 7:50 PM

Ruth (Guest): Thank you, Lisa.

ay 14, 7:51 PM

Lisa C (Guest): He has a lot of videos

May 14, 7:51 PM

SrSusan (Guest): q How is our mere desire for Jesus a rejection of Satan?

May 14, 7:51 PM

Lisa C (Guest): He knows about the devil and demons, because he fights them

y 14, 7:52 PMPaula (Guest): He must have lots of courage from the Holy Spirit

14, 7:53 PM

Dawn (Guest): Hi Sr Susan, were your new communicants today? Lovely

May 14, 7:53 PM

Paula (Guest): it shows our love…preference

May 14, 7:53 PM

Barbara (Guest): If I understand StFeS, Good (Jesus) and evil (satan) cannot simultaneously co-exist in our desire at the same time; ultimately we need to choose one. Desiring Jesus is a choice for Him (good) and a de facto rejection of satan (evil).

May 14, 7:53 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Yes they received first Communion yesterday

 7:54 PM

Bettychao (Guest): Sr Susan when I go to jerusalem I buy the jerusalem bible the our church clergy say the Bible verses is all is the same but the Filipino people say is not the same but when I studied protasdant bible and Catholic Bible together the verses is the same I don’t know why those Filipino say is not the same but my church father say is all the same

May 14, 7:54 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Sin separates us from God. Satan wants us to be damned. We cannot be damned, if we are in league with Jesus.

14, 7:56 PMLisa C (Guest): Satan was the highest angel and smartest angel and when he rejected God and then saw that God made man and allowed man to be his sons it made satan angry at us.

 14, 7:56 PM

Paula (Guest): They probably don’t have all the same books in the Bible

May 14, 7:56 PM

May 14, 7:56 PM

Barbara (Guest): Sr Susan, In terms of “securing salvation” is the “preferential option” debunked?

May 14, 7:56 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Protestants are missing the apocrapha

May 14, 7:57 PM

Lisa C (Guest): the books we have that they do not

May 14, 7:57 PM

SrSusan (Guest): I don’t know what you mean Barbara, can anyone else clue me in

May 14, 7:57 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Is it the poor you mean

y 14, 7:57 PM

Barbara (Guest): For a while there was a view that no one would go to hell who really, overall preferred Jesus to satan–

May 14, 7:58 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Oh I dont agree with that- is that in the catechism

4, 7:58 PM

Barbara (Guest): Our children (now grown adults) were taught that

May 14, 7:59 PM

Bettychao (Guest): But the Bible is the same we can’t change they can’t change eather because is the word of Jesus Jesus say everything can pass way my word can’t passway so I believe bib

May 14, 7:59 PM

Bettychao (Guest): Bible is the same

May 14, 7:59 PM

Ruth (Guest): Did I tell you, I’ve been struggling because a long time friend and devout Catholic (He even published a bk on St. Thomas Aquinas) and with his wife has been heroically practicing the corporal works of mercy, appears to have committed suicide, with three tries, and with a verbalized plan, even to the timing.

14, 8:00 PMLisa C (Guest): That preferential option cannot be true….“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

y 14, 8:00 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Matt 7:21

May 14, 8:00 PM

Paula (Guest): You have to show your love of God…if you love me keep my word…and His word is His commandments

4, 8:02 PMSrSusan (Guest): q What does it mean that Jesus calls us by name?

ay 14, 8:03 PM

Dawn (Guest): he is calling us unto himself

May 14, 8:03 PM

Bettychao (Guest): He is God he know us by name

8:03 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Isaiah 49:1–7

May 14, 8:03 PM

Barbara (Guest): Just as each sheep knows his shepherd’s voice and follows him when the shepherd calls him by name, Jesus, our Good Shepherd calls us/His sheep, individually by name, and we follow Him. Conversely, the sheep will not follow anyone whose voice they do not recognize. Moral: We need to recognize Jesus’ Voice in order not to be duped into following satan, who masquerades as a someone who offers to shepherd us into “good” pastures that are totally evil

May 14, 8:04 PM

Paula (Guest): Sorry to hear that Ruth….have trust and hope….we cannot go until the Father beckons

May 14, 8:04 PM

Lisa C (Guest): calling us by name means He knows us

May 14, 8:04 PM

Lisa C (Guest): He had a plan for us before he made us

May 14, 8:04 PM

Ruth (Guest): And another friend, who had been calling me every day often after 10 PM, reacted to my request to call earlier, by 8 or 9, in such a way, that we seem to be no longer so close, like I was not loving and no longer trusted when I tried to explain why it is important for me to try to be in bed by 10 or 11. . .

May 14, 8:05 PM

Paula (Guest): He loves us….each one….

 8:05 PM

Paula (Guest): He loves us….each one….

May 14, 8:06 PM

Lisa C (Guest): The Servant of the Lord
49 Listens to me, you islands;t
hear this, you distant nations:
Before I was bornu the Lord calledv me;
from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.w
2 He made my mouthx like a sharpened sword,y
in the shadow of his handz he hid me;
he made me into a polished arrowa
and concealed me in his quiver.
3 He said to me, “You are my servant,b
Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.c”

May 14, 8:06 PM

Lisa C (Guest): 4 But I said, “I have labored in vain
I have spent my strength for nothing at all.
Yet what is due me is in the Lord’s hand,e
and my rewardf is with my God.”g
5 And now the Lord says—
he who formed me in the wombh to be his servant
to bring Jacob back to him
and gather Israeli to himself,
for I ama honoredj in the eyes of the Lord
and my God has been my strengthk—
6 he says:

Lisa C (Guest): and bring back those of Israel I have kept.m
I will also make you a lightn for the Gentiles,o
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”p
7 This is what the Lord says—
the Redeemer and Holy One of Israelq—
to him who was despisedr and abhorred by the nation,
to the servant of rulers:
“Kingss will see you and stand up,
princes will see and bow down,t
because of the Lord, who is faithful,u
the Holy One of Israel, who has chosenv you.”

“It is too small a thing for you to be my servantl
to restore the tribes of Jacob

8:07 PM

Dawn (Guest): thank you Lisa

May 14, 8:07 PM

Paula (Guest): Jesus wants us to chose Him at each moment instead of Satan He wants us with Him in Heaven He loves us

ay 14, 8:11 PM

Ruth (Guest): Jesus may even have a NEW name for each of us, known only to HIm. [Rev. ]

May 14, 8:11 PM

SrSusan (Guest): q he beauty of Our Saviour and of the saints seems like such an easy choice. Why does St. Francis have us picture ourselves between heaven and hell until the end of our lives?

 14, 8:12 PM

Dawn (Guest): oh! thanks Ruth

May 14, 8:12 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Maybe Ruth, but I think we get our name at Baptism when we become God’s children

May 14, 8:12 PM

Lisa C (Guest): He knew it before though

, 8:12 PMBarbara (Guest): Picturing ourselves between heaven & hell till the end of our lives helps us keep from ever growing complacent or overconfident…We need to stay humble and vigilant lest we be seduced by evil trickery…Our willful choice of good or evil ends only with death—until them, our eternal fate is never sealed, one way or another

ay 14, 8:13 PMLisa C (Guest): St. F is right we are between both, because our free will sends us to one or the other and we can change at any time

ay 14, 8:14 PM

Lisa C (Guest): I think at the last second when dying people who did not chose God will chose Him then

May 14, 8:15 PM

Lisa C (Guest): that sentence needs commas

May 14, 8:15 PM

Paula (Guest): And we must be careful as our judgement can get clouded

y 14, 8:15 PMBarbara (Guest): Like the person Ruth was talking about…Only God knows his fate

14, 8:17 PMSrSusan (Guest): In a way we are between heaven and hell on earth because the temptations are always there, to be resisited, but we can fall

 14, 8:18 PM

Paula (Guest): God knows everything….even how many times we choose Him over Satan and in what circumstances and God is just and merciful

 8:18 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Why is the choice difficult sometimes?

May 14, 8:18 PM

Barbara (Guest): Hmmm…we can fall into the pit, as off a tight rope, but we can’t climb up to Heaven on our own–only God’s Grace can save us

14, 8:19 PM

Barbara (Guest): The choice is difficult because the rewards of virtue are not always immediate the way that the gratification from certain evils are

May 14, 8:19 PM

Lisa C (Guest): Blessed Mother can keep us on the right path

May 14, 8:27 PM

SrSusan (Guest): Yes it was delivered to us by a painter. Not ours but it stayed in the lake

May 14, 8:27 PM

Ruth (Guest): My understanding of Purgatory is that we are assured of Heaven BUT must be purified. Here on Earth, it is always possible to set our sights on some false “good” — that is the frightening reality made evident by the choice of that college friend deliberately taking his life (IF it was not an “accident” which seems unlikely.)

May 14, 8:27 PM

Barbara (Guest): Amen! TY, Sr…. You, too!
