Jesus, as he did for St. John, the beloved Apostle whom the Church celebrates on this day, makes her rest for a long time on his breast, and then reveals to her the inexplicable secrets of his Sacred Heart.

End of December 1862: A letter from the Visitation of Annecy invites the whole Order to be more zealous in spreading devotion to the Heart of Jesus. Shortly afterwards, at the Visitation of Bourg-en-Bresse, the Community commissioned Sister Marie of the Sacred Heart Bernaud to look for ways to respond to this call from the Lord: she would soon found the Guard of Honour.
