St Francis de Sales said of this biblical event, the Visitation:

“Do you not think that what most particularly prompted our glorious Mistress to make this visit was her most ardent charity and a very profound humility which enabled her to pass with such speed and promptitude over the mountains of Judea? O certainly, it was these two virtues that impelled her and made her leave her little Nazareth, for charity is not idle: it bubbles in the hearts where she reigns and dwells, and the Blessed Virgin was all filled with it, all the more so because she had love even in her womb. “
