SrSusan (Guest): What does it mean that God gives us to someone? Isn’t this only something married people should say?Why do you think Saint Francis was so struck by his encounter with Saint Jane, such that he believed God gave her to him? Does that seem to have “come true” after this encounter?Would you agree that it is important for us to meet the right people in our lives to accomplish certain ends? This could be true of a marriage partner, a teacher, job, or apostolic work. How do we “tune in” to the Holy Spirit’s
promptings in this area? How do we search for such people, and discern whether we will work well together? What does this mean in our encounter with each person we meet? Why is it important for clergy to not pursue the bishopric or becoming cardinal as an aspiration or “career goal”? Why was it so important that Saint Francis was hesitant about the idea of becoming cardinal?Sometimes a parish priest or a bishop might seem like they have so much time to spend in prayer and silence, but in reality, their lives

Carol (Guest): Hi Carol! Good to see you tonight on the chat!
Mar 2, 4:26 PM
Carol (Guest): Hi, are you another me?
Mar 2, 4:27 PM
Carol (Guest): ???.. do you mean because your name is up twice?
Mar 2, 4:27 PM
Carol (Guest): Yes
Mar 2, 4:27 PM
Carol (Guest): It’s me Simone
Mar 2, 4:28 PM
Carol (Guest): I don’t know why this happened
Mar 2, 4:34 PM
SrSusan (Guest): q 1 What does it mean that God gives us to someone? Isn’t this only something married people should say?
Mar 2, 4:34 PM
Ruth (Guest): Sometimes I’ve had to RE sign in. Then I was Ruth 2 even though I was, of course, ONE person.
Mar 2, 4:35 PM
Carol (Guest): I think God does give us to people in all kinds of different rolee
Mar 2, 4:36 PM
Carol (Guest): SIMONE: I have a friend.. who has been on a pilgrimage I think with her church. One day.. after a prayer time the priest from her church.. who travelled with them.. came up to her and said ” I think the Lord has given you to me”.. and it was not a Salesian priest. The two of them have a most beautiful and pure spiritual friendship now
Mar 2, 4:36 PM
Ruth (Guest): No. I think a deep, long-time, friendship is a gift from God !
Mar 2, 4:36 PMRuth (Guest): Good example, Simone.
Mar 2, 4:37 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: I think.. that’s how I felt when I met my husband. God has given each other to us. I actually thought that we should have a spiritual friendship.. but my husband said ” I do not do friendship with women”
Mar 2, 4:38 PM
Carol (Guest): so we got married
Mar 2, 4:38 PMCarol (Guest): SIMONE here.. My husband has changed his mind since then.. just for the record
ar 2, 4:39 PMCarol (Guest): Today my new parish had a town hall meeting to talk about how to improve things. Mostly people already in ministry, but a couple newbies like me. We all left with the sense we were called there today for some purpose
Mar 2, 4:40 PMCarol (Guest): did you change your parish Carol? recently?
?Why do you think Saint Francis was so struck by his encounter with Saint Jane, such that he believed God gave her to him
Mar 2, 4:41 PM
Carol (Guest): Oh! I have ‘t told you yet! God performed a miracle and got me into an apartment I should not have qualified for it’s right across the street from my new parish. Literally
Mar 2, 4:41 PM
Carol (Guest): SIMONE here: CAROL !!!!!!!! that is so amazing!
Mar 2, 4:42 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: Thank you Lord.. for such a wonderful prayer answer! you are in an apartment Carol! I am so happy for you!
Mar 2, 4:42 PM
Carol (Guest): He said, “Won’t you be my neighbor?”. Just like Me Rogers
Mar 2, 4:42 PM
SrSusan (Guest): wow Carol!!
Mar 2, 4:42 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone: LOL…
ar 2, 4:43 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: You have THE BEST neighbour now Carol. And you will be a good neighbour for HIM too
Mar 2, 4:43 PM
Carol (Guest): So in the morning, I say lauds, then run across the street for adoration and Mass
Mar 2, 4:43 PM
Ruth (Guest): Wonderful! Carol. How I wish that could happen on the State, National and international levels, too.
Mar 2, 4:43 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: Carol.. you so so deserve this.
Mar 2, 4:44 PM
Carol (Guest): There’s no telling when or where HE’S moving me again, but right now I’m most definitely hiding in the shadow of His wings
Mar 2, 4:44 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: back to the question. I think St. Francis was so struck because God has spoken. And St. Francis.. like my husband maybe… did not expect that God would offer him a Spiritual Friendship with a woman
Mar 2, 4:44 PMRuth (Guest): thatks great Carol. Easier to get to Adoration.
Mar 2, 4:46 PM
Carol (Guest): I think men and women can be just friends, but it must be managed carefully
Mar 2, 4:46 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: I totally agree with you Carol
Mar 2, 4:46 PM
Carol (Guest): I got added to the Rosary group before you could say boo
Mar 2, 4:46 PM
Ruth (Guest): 😀. Mr. Rogers,
Mar 2, 4:46 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: lots of honest accountability necessary
Mar 2, 4:46 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: lots of honest accountability necessary
Mar 2, 4:47 PM
SrSusan (Guest): and St Francis prayed long and hard about whether to take on St Jane as directee but was convinced God wanted him to
Mar 2, 4:48 PM
Carol (Guest): SImone here: Yes, you have to really pray about something like this
Mar 2, 4:49 PM
Carol (Guest): If the friendship is not inspired by God it can turn into somehing deadky
Mar 2, 4:49 PMRuth (Guest): I Agree, Carol. And I think there has to be a very high level of maturity, spiritually, emotional; in every way, Real self knowledge.
Mar 2, 4:50 PM
Ruth (Guest): I wonder if there was a big age difference between Saint Francis and St Jane Francis de Chantal.
Mar 2, 4:50 PM
SrSusan (Guest): 5 years
Mar 2, 4:51 PMCarol (Guest): Because that would make it more like brother and sister
Mar 2, 4:53 PM
SrSusan (Guest): Would you agree that it is important for us to meet the right people in our lives to accomplish certain ends?
Mar 2, 4:53 PM
Carol (Guest): Yes
Mar 2, 4:54 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: I have a beautiful spiritual friendship with a priest. I think I spoke about it here before. There is not an ounce of attraction between us physically- but we truly feel that when we talk about spiritual things, that God makes these talks fruitful for both of us. So .. we meet once a week on the phone now. And we both find the other person enriching for our lives. But the boundaries are very very clear
Mar 2, 4:55 PM
Ruth (Guest): In Virginia, years ago, I witnessed a tragic turn in what was supposed to be a counseling situation. the charismatic prayer group leader was married, the father of at least six children. Supposedly he was helping a female . . .
Mar 2, 4:55 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: I think God himself is interested to link us with the right people.. who carry the right Charism.. to support us in our endeavour
Mar 2, 4:55 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: I think God himself is interested to link us with the right people.. who carry the right Charism.. to support us in our endeavour
Mar 2, 4:55 PM
Ruth (Guest): I say, definitely, Sister.
Mar 2, 4:56 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: Oh Ruth.. I have seen many male leaders fall.. by foolishly going into “spiritual situations” – and falling by not being strong enough to stand against temptation
Mar 2, 4:56 PM
Carol (Guest): As in all things, discernment is paramount
Mar 2, 4:56 PM
Carol (Guest): We had two priests last year in our diocese.. who left the priesthood for that very reason
Mar 2, 4:56 PM
Carol (Guest): last one .. was from Simone here
Mar 2, 4:57 PMRuth (Guest): Once when I was quite anxious about whether or not, I’d be able to remain Faithful when I felt so isolated in my Catholic Faith.
Mar 2, 4:59 PM
SrSusan (Guest): I think God sends us the right people but we need to recognize them
Mar 2, 4:59 PM
Ruth (Guest): God made a personal promised to me: He would always give me the friends I NEED, to be true to Him ‘til the end of my life. I have still been lonely at times, but he has, indeed, kept that promise.
Mar 2, 5:00 PMCarol (Guest): Simone here: Oh Ruth.. that is so wonderful. What a sweet sweet promise God gave you
ar 2, 5:00 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: It sounds like a true prayer answer.. straight to a big question of your heart. I am so touched
Mar 2, 5:00 PM
Carol (Guest): I think we are not meant to go it alone. Even hermits gather as community
Mar 2, 5:01 PMCarol (Guest): We are all soul companions for each other
Mar 2, 5:01 PMCarol (Guest): The body of Christ needs each other
How do we “tune in” to the Holy Spirit’s
promptings in this area? How do we search for such people, and discern whether we will work well together?
Mar 2, 5:03 PM
Ruth (Guest): I am almost in tears just now, with gratitude. HE knows what is important and provides it.
Mar 2, 5:04 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: big hug Ruth
Mar 2, 5:04 PM
Carol (Guest): Yes, big hugs!
Mar 2, 5:05 PM
Ruth (Guest): thanks!
Mar 2, 5:05 PM
Carol (Guest): Sometime we think we are meant to be in with someone, but it is only superficial. We would npbe unequally yoked
Mar 2, 5:05 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: I am still searching for a person that can support me in my ministry.. mostly with Admin stuff.. I am praying.. that God will bring that person along. I have found one person now.. which I have to pay.. but I think it works well.. and another person is coming along side, that is carrying the vision here with me more. I see both as a prayer answer
Mar 2, 5:05 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: oh Carol.. these words are daily coming to my mind.. when I think about my daughter’s relationship.
Mar 2, 5:05 PM
Ruth (Guest): You have become loving arms of the Body of Christ!
Mar 2, 5:09 PMSrSusan (Guest): I have not ever actually searched for a person except once being on a team to find a principal
Mar 2, 5:10 PM
Ruth (Guest): Even SOME unequal yoking CAN be from HIM.
Mar 2, 5:10 PM
Kimberly (Guest): Hi everyone
Mar 2, 5:10 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: interesting Ruth.. that you are saying this
Mar 2, 5:10 PM
Carol (Guest): Hi Kimberly!
Mar 2, 5:10 PM
Ruth (Guest): Hi Kimberly!
Mar 2, 5:11 PM
Carol (Guest): He can unequally yoke us–to teach us
Mar 2, 5:11 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: good point Carol.
Mar 2, 5:12 PMCarol (Guest): Simone here: She is wrestling.. with God and the church… but wrestling makes people stronger usually.
Mar 2, 5:12 PMCarol (Guest): Because God always wins
Mar 2, 5:13 PM
Carol (Guest): SImone here: I hope she does not walk away limping forever.. like Jacob
Mar 2, 5:13 PM
Ruth (Guest): I do it know the latest details of Victoria’s “love life”, but there are so many factors that go into a relationship . .
Mar 2, 5:14 PM
Ruth (Guest): Do NOT
Mar 2, 5:14 PM
Ruth (Guest): Not litl
Mar 2, 5:14 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: you are right Ruth. and Victoria has said NO.. to this young man for a whole year. ahh.. it is complicated
Mar 2, 5:15 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: anyways.. when God puts her name on your mind.. please send a quick prayer up
Mar 2, 5:15 PM
Ruth (Guest): Why does Jakob’s wrestling with angels come to mind just now?
Mar 2, 5:16 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: do you ask me Ruth.. why I mentioned that?
Mar 2, 5:16 PM
Ruth (Guest): And to this day his injured thigh has a place on the Passover Seder plate.
Mar 2, 5:17 PM
Ruth (Guest): symbolically of course.
Mar 2, 5:17 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here” the desert is a dangerous place – when one is limping.. The eternal trust on God has been stamped on his body
Mar 2, 5:17 PM
Ruth (Guest): Of course, Simone!
Mar 2, 5:19 PM
SrSusan (Guest): ???
Mar 2, 5:19 PM
Ruth (Guest): Oh Simone, I am not asking YOU, I am asking myself.
Mar 2, 5:19 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: Sister Susan.. did we confuse you? Can I clarify for you?
Mar 2, 5:20 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: what is your question Sister?
Mar 2, 5:20 PM
SrSusan (Guest): yes please
Mar 2, 5:20 PM
Ruth (Guest): Like a dream image that needs to be explored more when awake in God’s presence.
Mar 2, 5:22 PM
Carol (Guest): its like using imagerybin prayer. Pretty Ignatian
Mar 2, 5:22 PM
SrSusan (Guest): oh
Mar 2, 5:22 PMCarol (Guest): oh.. well.. I see the limping of Jacob.. as something very dangerous in the desert. Not being able to run.. can be a death sentence in the desert. So.. from that moment on.. Jacob had to fully trust God – to keep his life… Is it a bit clearer now? Sorry for the confusion
Mar 2, 5:23 PMSrSusan (Guest): yes I get it now
2, 5:23 PM
SrSusan (Guest): Why is it important for clergy to not pursue the bishopric or becoming cardinal as an aspiration or “career goal”? Why was it so important that Saint Francis was hesitant about the idea of becoming cardinal?
Mar 2, 5:24 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: he has founded his ministry on humility.. and he continued it in humility
Mar 2, 5:25 PM
Carol (Guest): I think the duties and responsibilites are greater the farther up you go
Mar 2, 5:25 PMCarol (Guest): Speaking about humility.. I am offering the Lenten study on the Litany of Humility again this Lent. If anyone is interested.. or knows someone who is interested.. please let me know. You all.. on this chat can participate for free of course.
Mar 2, 5:26 PM
Carol (Guest): Those who are first are servants of all
Mar 2, 5:26 PM
Carol (Guest): for your friends.. I have a 50% discount coupon.. your friends are my friends
Mar 2, 5:26 PM
Carol (Guest): Yes please Simone
Mar 2, 5:26 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here.. oops.. Sorry.. the Lenten study.. is actually from me – SImone
Mar 2, 5:27 PM
Carol (Guest): Simone here: OK Carol.. I send you the link. Should I forget please just remind me. We are starting on Ash Wednesday
Mar 2, 5:30 PM
SrSusan (Guest): Sometimes a parish priest or a bishop might seem like they have so much time to spend in prayer and silence, but in reality, their lives
SrSusan (Guest): are just as busy as the laity (even if it looks different). How can we support them better to ensure this part of their lives isn’t diminished? When is it OK to resist or doubt a call, as long as we ultimately decide to surrender? Does this make the choice more free?
Mar 2, 5:30 PM
Ana (Guest): Nice to meet you all. Is this every Sunday?
Mar 2, 5:30 PM
SrSusan (Guest): yes
Mar 2, 5:30 PM
Ruth (Guest): thank you Carol sorry one of my trigger fingers changed your name. I think you understood “my” Biblical image better than I did. Your interpretation will help me cope with the after effects of Chemo and severe arthritis better, maybe even be more grateful for the “forced” Trust it necessitates.

Carol (Guest): This question about “resisting”or “doubting” a call. is very interesting I find
Mar 2, 5:32 PM
Carol (Guest): sorry.. that was me again – Simone
Mar 2, 5:32 PM
